Chapter 1027 Does the Goddess Really Exist?
Robert had something to do in the laboratory, so he did not go with them.
Even so, Clarissa and the others didn't mind. After all, Clarissa was mainly here to see Sierra.
Their driver for today was a chauffeur from the castle, not Ameer from yesterday.
Along the way, Sierra was elated. While introducing the scenery of the city, she was also chatting casually with Clarissa.
Looking at Sierra, Clarissa could tell that she was happy.
Perhaps Sierra had completely accepted her, or she had recalled some moments from the past.
Therefore, there was lesser estrangement between her and Clarissa now.
Moreover, Clarissa even found back a feeling that she hadn't experienced for a long time. It was the feeling she had when she was in Visstead.
After they were tired from strolling around in the morning, they had their lunch at the largest hotel in the city.
The hotel here was also a white-colored building. Upon entering, the receptionist recognized Sierra and greeted her respectfully.
Feeling a little shy, Sierra turned around and whispered to Clarissa, "Actually, Robert is more prestigious here, while I am just gaining some benefits through him. Besides, I seldom come out."
Hearing that, Clarissa smiled. "After this trip today, I feel that the people here are living in simplicity. Seeing that you are living a good life here, I'm relieved."
"It's all thanks to Robert who saved me back then. Otherwise, I wouldn't have the chance to live the life I have today," Sierra sighed.
To that, Clarissa nodded in agreement.
Then, Sierra chuckled, "Let's not talk about this. Today, we shall taste the authentic local dishes in this restaurant. Usually, I will improvise my cooking, so what you ate at home didn't taste authentic. If you guys like the dishes here after tasting them, I'll have the castle's cooks to make them tomorrow."
Once they entered the restaurant, they found a place and sat down.
Because they came late, there were no private suits left for them.
However, it did not bother them at all. Instead, they found a decent place next to the window in the hall.
After sitting down, Sierra placed the order, and they chatted over a cup of coffee while waiting for the dishes.
Just then, they heard a few people sitting at the table next to them talking about something.
As their voices were relatively loud, Clarissa and the others could hear everything.
"Hey, have you heard about it? There's a song-and-dance performance at the theater tonight."
"What's so exceptional about that? There are performances in the theater every day."
"I know, but today's performance is different. I heard that The Voices of Dreams are performing tonight. Their show, Legend of the Goddess, is excellent, and they only perform once in a few years. If you don't watch it tonight, you will miss it."
"Really? I should watch it then. Let's buy the tickets after dinner."
When Clarissa heard them talking excitedly, she got curious.
Right away, she turned to ask Sierra, "Mom, what's the show they're talking about?"
Sierra smiled. "Ah, it's a famous legend in this town. A thousand years ago, when this town was yet to exist, a huge God's stone fell from the sky and landed on this desert. Then, the stone absorbed the essence of nature here and gradually turned into a beautiful Goddess."
"The Goddess was very kind. When she saw the people dying from drought, she cried out of sympathy, and her tears converged into the Goddess River. However, there were no trees, and the yellow sand polluted the river. When the sun shone on the river, it would easily dry up. So, she pulled out all her hair and turned it into the trees and flowers along the river."
"When those commoners were homeless, she cut her own flesh and turned them into houses. Moreover, to block the sand storm coming from the south, she turned her bones into Mount Goddess. Anyway, she is the legend here. As the locals deeply believe in her, they have built a palace to honor her! If you want to visit there, I will take you there after lunch."
After hearing that, Clarissa chuckled, "This sounds too good to be true."
"I know, right?"
On the other hand, Anne stared at them with curiosity and asked, "Is this true? Does Goddess really exists in this world?"
Sierra laughed and lightly pinched Anne's little nose.
"Of course not. These legends are all made up to trick children like you. Anyway, this legend was harmless, and it has been passed down for a long time, so everyone sees it as a belief."
"What about The Voices of Dreams?" Clarissa asked.
"That band is very well-known here, and they specialize in stage performances. You have never been to Doscea, so you may not know this, but they are popular throughout Doscea. Legend of the Goddess is a stage drama directed by them. A few years ago, I watched it once, and it's quite amazing. If you are interested, we can go and watch it tonight."
Clarissa nodded.
"Oh, I see."
Through Sierra's explanation, she briefly understood that The Voices of Dreams was a stage drama team that created a show out of the legend of this town.
Actually, there was nothing to be curious about because every place had its own legend.
Not only here, but she also heard plenty of fables in Ascijan.
Hence, Clarissa didn't think much about it and just took it as interesting information.
Even so, Anne was very interested.
After all, it was normal for a child to be interested in fairies and myths.
As Sierra described the Goddess so vividly, Anne felt that this Goddess was so kind and magnanimous. Hence, she couldn't wait to see the Goddess.
Seeing that, Sierra smiled. "I'm afraid that you won't be able to see her anymore because she was from a thousand years ago. However, we can visit the palace built by the locals and pay our respects to her. At there, you will have a chance to take a look at her statues and portraits."
"Okay!" Anne nodded her head obediently.
Thus, after they finished their meal, they went to the famous Goddess Palace to pay their respects.
Since it was the locals' faith, the palace was built magnificently.
When they entered, they felt that this place did not look like a place for worship. It was more like a palace built for Emperors in ancient times.
Deep down, Clarissa scoffed as she thought to herself that people with greed were everywhere.
Obviously, this palace wasn't built for the locals to worship the Goddess, but the real owner of this palace.
Although she didn't know who was in charge of this palace, seeing how the road was paved with gold bricks and the wall was made with jade, she knew that person must have secretly embezzled a lump sum of money.
Thinking about that, Clarissa subconsciously blurted out a question.
"Mom, do you know who is guarding this palace? Who does this place belong to?"
Hearing that, Sierra froze for a while before shaking her head.
"I don't know. It seems that no one has mentioned it before."
