Chapter 1026 A Botanist
After strolling for two hours, they finally finished touring the whole castle.
Along the way, they met several servants.
As most of them spoke in a local dialect, they didn't understand what Clarissa and Anderson were speaking. Even so, they were warm-hearted and kind-hearted.
Moreover, Anderson and Clarissa even lost their way and spent a long time finding their way back to the living room.
When they returned, it was already six o'clock.
At that time, Robert had come back from the lab. As soon as he saw them, he asked the servants to call Sierra and the two children to come over for dinner.
With a smile, Clarissa greeted Robert. In fact, Robert's attitude toward them was gentler than before.
Later, they had local delicacies for dinner.
As Anne and Marf had played with Sierra for a few hours in the afternoon, their relationship had established.
During dinner, both of them kept addressing Sierra as Grandma, making her bloom with happiness.
When Robert saw Sierra was contented, he was pleased.
Besides, he even endearingly looked at Anne and Marf.
Not only did he give them a lot of gifts, but he also specially made a healthy smoothie that suited children's taste for Anne as her body was weak.
Although Anne felt that it tasted strange, she didn't say anything.
After dinner, Robert took everyone to the greenhouse behind the castle to see the Way Tree that Emmeline and the others sent him.
When they arrived, they saw the greenhouse's wall was built with ice blocks, while the roof was made of glass with a layer of transparent thermal insulation on it.
In this way, not only could the sunlight shine in, but it wouldn't affect the surrounding temperature.
Before that, Coby had mentioned that Way Tree needed a cold and damp place to grow. Robert lived in a hot climate, so he came up with this invention.
Studying his invention, Clarissa and Anderson were astonished.
As for the jade pot, it was obviously sent by Jara.
There was a thin layer of water in it, and a long piece of jade stick was used to support the plant.
Later, Robert explained, "Right now, I only can temporarily keep them alive. As for the reproduction, we will have to wait for a period of time."
After hearing that, Clarissa nodded.
"Mr. Lane, how confident are you about this?"
Robert glanced at her and frowned slightly. "To tell you the truth, I'm not so sure."
Clarissa was stunned.
With a serious tone, Robert continued, "This plant is valuable. Besides, I am not a professional botanist, and I only raised it according to the method you told me. Obviously, Coby is still hiding something from you, but this is expected. If you don't give him the whole Jade of Heaven, he will not tell you the exact method."
"But don't worry. Two days ago, I called a good friend who is a professional botanist, and he will come over when he is free. By that time, we will look into this together, and who knows? There might be some positive results."
Hearing his words, Clarissa felt slightly relieved.
After looking at the Way Tree, Robert took them to his herb garden.
Before that, Clarissa had heard of his nickname as a Genius Doctor, but she didn't know much about it.
Now that she saw his herb garden, she realized that he was not only proficient in western medicine, but he was also proficient in traditional Chinese medicine.
Hence, she got curious. After they were done looking around, they returned to the living room and sat down. Then, she asked, "Mr. Lane, you seem to know a lot about traditional Chinese medicine. Are you from Ascijan?"
Robert nodded and answered truthfully, "Yes."
"Why did you come here and live in seclusion then?"
Upon hearing Clarissa's question, Robert didn't say anything.
Just then, Sierra smiled and replied, "Robert's family used to work in the medical field too. After that, something happened to them, and they were no longer around. So, he went abroad to study medicine with his professor, who used to live here. Later, when his professor passed away, he continued to stay here until today."
Immediately, Clarissa understood. "So, that's how it is."
Suddenly, Anne ran in from outside and cried, "Mommy, I just saw a strange man. He ran toward there."
Shocked, Clarissa was about to stand up.
Just then, Robert said. "Don't worry about him. He's my senior, and he is mentally ill. So, you can ignore him."
Although Clarissa was a little surprised, it seemed like Robert and Sierra refused to talk more about him, so she did not ask any more questions.
That night, they stayed in the castle.
Before bed, Sierra ordered the servants to clean up the guest room for them. Clarissa was worried about Marf sleeping alone, so she arranged for Marf to sleep in her room.
As Anne had grown up, she was fine sleeping alone.
At night, after the children fell asleep, Anderson kissed Clarissa's forehead and whispered, "Have a sweet dream."
She nodded.
Later, she had a peaceful sleep.
When she woke up the next day, the sun had completely risen.
In the desert, the night was short, and the day was long. At 6 or 7 a.m., the sun was already shining brightly, while at 10 p.m., the sun would only begin to set.
Although Clarissa wasn't used to it, it was bearable because thick curtains were blocking the sunlight.
After she got up and washed up, she went out and saw Anderson playing with the kids in the living room.
Marf was sitting on the carpet while Anne was circling. As for Anderson, he was sitting on the sofa, directing Marf to piece the Lego.
Watching such a sweet scene, Clarissa couldn't help curling up the corner of her mouth.
"Clarissa, you're awake."
Sierra's voice came from behind.
Upon hearing that, Clarissa turned around and saw Sierra, who was dressed in a white dress. Then, Clarissa nodded with a smile.
"Yes, I overslept."
"You're pregnant, so it's normal. Let's have breakfast. After that, take your medication. Last night, I told Robert about your morning sickness, so he specially prepared it for you."
Hearing Sierra's words, Clarissa immediately thanked Robert. With that, everyone headed to the dining room.
Their breakfast also consisted of a few local specialties. In addition, there were a few light Ascijanese dishes.
Joyfully, Sierra explained, "I'm afraid you're not used to the food here, so I asked the cook to prepare some Ascijanese food for you. You can try all of them and decide which one you like. Next time, I'll ask them to prepare the food you prefer as breakfast."
"Great. I'm fine with anything," Clarissa chuckled.
Anne and Marf weren't picky about food either. Furthermore, Sierra's culinary skills were good.
No matter what kind of dish she prepared, it had a unique taste in it.
Seeing everyone enjoying her food, Sierra beamed.
After breakfast, she suggested going out for a walk.
The climate was hot here. Although this town was relatively cooler than the desert outside, it was still humid.
Moreover, there was a great difference in temperature between the day and night here. When they went out, they did not know when they would come back.
Hence, Sierra not only advised them to put on sunblock, but she also brought a few thick cloaks for everyone.
