Chapter 540 A Mental Breakdown
Evelyn knew what Jeffrey was worried about, so she asked him to continue driving.
Seeing that Evelyn didn't want to say anything, Jeffrey could only shake his head and continue to drive.
"I don't believe that you can still sleep at ease when you see these photos." Melodie thought to herself.
At this moment, Melodie just couldn't wait for things to blow up.
Although Evelyn and Melodie rarely had interacted with each other working for the same company, she still knew how Evelyn was like.
So this time, Melodie had taken the advantage of her jealousy and lack of confidence.
Based on her character, Evelyn would most probably have trust issues after seeing those photos.
"Let's just sit back and enjoy the show," Melodie thought to herself.
Indeed, at this moment, Evelyn's day was ruined because of the photos sent by Melodie to her a while ago.
She was about to accept him in her heart after what he had said to her that day.
And to be honest, she had made up her mind to tell Marty her feelings for him and promised to be with Marty the next time they met.
However, just as she had this thought in her mind, something like this had cropped up.
Evelyn felt as if she hovered on the verge of a mental breakdown.
Was she being jealous? She wasn't sure.
However, she only knew that when she saw those photos, she no longer had a good impression for him.
So she really didn't know why Marty was such a person.
How could he be so insatiable?
Were her true feelings to him nothing to him?
Evelyn didn't know why, but at this moment, she felt as if her heart had been filled with grievances.
"What's wrong with you?" Evelyn thought.
At this time, Jeffrey stopped at the intersection and waited for the green light. Once again, he could tell from Evelyn's expression that something was wrong from the rearview mirror.
"I'm fine."
If she told Jeffrey that it was because of Marty she was like this, it would be too embarrassing.
That was why Evelyn knew she couldn't let Jeffrey know about this.
Alas...
Jeffrey let out a sigh in his heart.
He always felt that Evelyn was not herself today, but the strange thing was she didn't want to tell him why.
"Well, I don't know what's wrong with you. If something is wrong, you can tell me. After all, we are good friends! You obviously are in a bad mood and hiding things from me. Am I not your friend?"
Jeffrey was really worried about Evelyn, so he wanted Evelyn to tell him what was bothering her, so that he could help her.
At this time, Evelyn lowered her head.
"I'm really fine. Maybe I'm still not accustomed to the fact that I was injured and fear still lingered on in my mind."
In the face of Jeffrey's confrontation, Evelyn chose to be silent again.
"Well, if you have run into difficulties, you must tell me. Don't hold your feelings back."
Anyone could tell that Evelyn was laden with anxiety, but still, she kept telling him that there was nothing for her to tell.
Hence, Jeffrey felt a little helpless about it.
He didn't think it would work even if he kept forcing her to voice out her concern.
"Okay, that's enough. We're here."
After driving for a long time, they finally arrived downstairs at Evelyn's house.
It was only then that Evelyn seemed to come to herself. She slowly picked up her things and got out of the car.
"I don't think you are in the right state of mind. Let me help you take your things."
But all Evelyn needed right now was to take quiet time for herself. She didn't want his company at all.
"Why are you so quiet?"
Seeing that Evelyn was so distracted, Jeffrey felt really strange.
"It's okay. I can take it on my own."
Evelyn refused, and her eyes had always been distant.
She hadn't acted like this before when she came out of the hospital. What happened in between?
A deep furrow got tangled in Jeffrey's brows. He didn't know Evelyn was like this at all.
At the same time, Marty finally went back to his room to rest, but now he was tossing and turning on his bed. He didn't feel sleepy at all.
He didn't understand he couldn't seem to get Evelyn off her mind even after he had drunk so much liquor. Instead, she kept coming to his mind?
All he could think about was, what was Evelyn doing now?
Did Evelyn go home today? Did she leave the hospital?
How was her injury now?
The more he wanted to forget her, the more he thought about her. His mind kept telling him to be concerned about her.
Marty had never had trouble sleeping before.
But now he was experiencing it all.
"Alas... "
Marty couldn't stand it anymore. He had been lying on the bed for more than an hour.
When he was downstairs just now, he clearly felt that he was about to fall asleep, but why was it that in such a moment, his mind was all occupied with Evelyn?
What Marty couldn't figure out now was why Evelyn still didn't like him.
Marty felt it torturous for him that his love was not reciprocated by the one he loved. He really didn't want to feel any of this.
And besides, at such a critical moment, was Jeffrey the one who saved her? He was clearly the one who had been by her side in a life and death situation like that. Why couldn't she see this?
He had done so many things for her quietly behind his back. Why couldn't she understand this?
Did he have to run to her and tell her everything he had done for her?
"Why is there such a dumb woman in the world? I have already confessed my feelings to her, but why doesn't she know my true feelings now and keep on rejecting me?"
Marty was getting even more irritated the more he thought about it.
All of a sudden, he sat up from the bed.
He felt that he needed a smoke to puff away his sadness.
Marty hadn't smoked for a long time because he had heard that Evelyn didn't like guys who smoked.
Therefore, Marty had quit smoking for a long time, but he couldn't fight the urge to smoke today as he had been driven up the wall.
