Chapter 563 She Agreed

"This should be enough for you for a few years. When I get married to Marty, you can come back to work. I promise, even if you can't stay in Starlight, I will introduce you to other entertainment companies. You will receive more or less the same treatment there."
Evelyn's eyes lit up as she glanced at the figure on the cheque, which was 100 million dollars.
Tsk... She was willing to throw away a fortune just for love. How rich of her!"
A mocking smile flashed across her face. She raised her head and took the cheque with a graceful smile. "Thank you."
Melodie did not expect her to be so straightforward. She was stunned and glanced at Evelyn's eyes, which were crystal clear and without any impurities.
She let out a sigh of relief in her heart. Great. As long as this woman was willing to give him up voluntarily, she would definitely be able to return to Marty's side.
Although she almost emptied her assets to raise the money, it was worth it for Marty's sake.
After all, with Evelyn's standing now, she wouldn't want to leave Marty if Melodie didn't pay enough to her.
"If there's nothing else, I'll leave first."
After that, Evelyn got out of the car.
Melodie looked at her receding figure and felt that something was amiss.
She turned her head and asked Lila, "Do you think she will leave Mr. Blaine?"
Lila sneered and said, "She's a gold digger. Why wouldn't she leave when you have already given her one hundred million dollars?"
For unknown reasons, Melodie didn't think so. Lila saw her worried look and said with a pained expression, "Don't think too much. Since you two have been together for so long, he will never let you down."
Melodie shuddered. "Yes, Marty will definitely come back to me again!"
......
It was already six o'clock in the evening when Evelyn returned home. She got a shock as soon as she stepped out of the elevator door.
At the door, a slender man leaned against the wall with cigarette butts scattering on the ground beside his feet. It seemed that he had been waiting for a long time.
"Why are you here?"
She walked over with her bag. Marty frowned and asked instead of answering, "Haven't you finished your work early in the morning? Why are you back so late?"
Evelyn opened the door with the key and answered, "There was someone in my way..." She suddenly stopped and turned around, but she did not expect that Marty had followed her. Both of them were stunned when her lips brushed against his chin.
"What was that?" Marty's mouth curved into a smile. He placed a hand on the door and held her in his arms, half-smiling.
The two of them were too close to each other. Evelyn could smell the scent of tobacco on him, coupled with his sandalwood scent. It was not unpleasant, but it made her feel a little dazed.
She pursed her lips, shook her head, and gave him a push. "Get out of my way. I'll have to open the door first."
The door opened. It was a two-bedroom house with simple furniture, decorated in warm colors. There was a little bit of stuff, which made the living room look cramped. Some of the furniture seemed a little shabby, but luckily, the homeowner had skillfully covered them with cloths of the same colors.
Evelyn pointed at the sofa and asked him to sit. She then poured two glasses of water and handed one of them to him. After that, she explained, "Melodie came to see me this afternoon and gave me 100 million dollars. In return, I'll have to leave you."
Marty seemed to have expected this and showed no surprise on his face. He glanced at the water in front of him and felt a little despised. Nevertheless, he picked it up and took a sip. "What did you say?"
"I agree."
"..."
Marty glared at her, not showing any anger but exuding an assertive aura.
Evelyn shrugged her shoulders as if she didn't care. "There's no need to glare at me. I'm just small fry with no power. You can't expect me to confront her face-to-face, can you?"
Marty raised his eyebrows slightly and said, "You're my woman now. You don't need to be looking over your shoulder all the time."
Evelyn smiled and said nothing, but she knew in her heart that even if Marty was protective of her now if she offended Marty in the future, she would still be in deep trouble after their relationship came to an end.
"Forget it. I'll take care of it." Marty seemed to realize that he was a little pushy. He waved his hand dismissively and said, "Give me the thing!"
Confused for a moment, Evelyn asked, "What's that?"
"The cheque that Melodie has given you."
Evelyn said, "Why? That's mine."
Marty's face was cold as he looked at her mockingly. "Are you sure?"
Evelyn stopped talking.
If Evelyn did not do as she promised after taking the money, when Melodie learned that she was fooled later, she would not let her off.
"But it's 100 million dollars! Although she knew she shouldn't accept it, she still felt heartache if she were to give it to Marty for nothing.
Couldn't she donate money to the welfare home?
It was a great idea until reality struck. In the end, Evelyn handed over the cheque to him unwillingly under Marty's "persuasion".
Marty's expression softened a little as he watched her pained expression. He was no longer bothered by the fact that she had sold him for a hundred million dollars. He stroked her head and said, "Don't be upset anymore. I'll give you a gift in a few days as compensation."
However, Evelyn had already lost her interest. She seemed a little dejected after the one million dollars just slipped away from her grip.
Marty chuckled, got up, and walked to the bathroom while taking off his clothes.
Confused, Evelyn asked, "What are you doing?"
Marty didn't even turn his head. "I'm taking a shower!"
She was stunned and instantly sprung up from the sofa, chasing after him. "Hey, this is my home!"
"But you are my woman!"
With a bang, the bathroom door was slammed shut. Evelyn stopped in her tracks abruptly at the door, and the glass door almost hit her nose. She stared blankly in front of her for a few seconds. She couldn't cry even if she wanted to.
Oh my god! What had she gotten herself into?
The sound of splashing water came from the bathroom. Accepting her fate, she took a deep breath and shouted, "Don't use my bath towel! There is a new one in the cabinet."
......
As the night fell, the lights filled the entire city with vitality.
Evelyn walked into the kitchen in a fit of anger. As soon as she opened the refrigerator, she heard someone knocking on the door.
She walked out and took a look through the peephole. It turned out to be Aria.
"Nice to meet you, Miss Hussain." Aria was about twenty-five years old. He seemed to be cold, but he was really nice to her now.
He stood at the door with a pile of brand-new clothes in his hands and a gentle smile. "Sorry to disturb you. I'm here to deliver clothes to Mr. Blaine."
Evelyn looked at him with suspicion. "How did you know Marty was here? Did he call you?"
"Well, this afternoon, Mr. Blaine made a trip to the Peony Garden in Mount Howard with the inspection team. Because he was allergic to pollen, he felt unwell after coming down from the mountain and was in a hurry to find a place to take a shower. But it was too far from the hotel. Mr. Blaine knew that your home was nearby, so he asked me to go to the hotel to pick up his clothes and send them here."
"I see." Evelyn thought.
She finally felt relieved. She was right. Marty would never come to her house unannounced without any reason.
