Chapter 1034 Don't Be Afraid, I'm Here
"Clarissa, don't be afraid. I'm here."
As he comforted her in a tender voice, he hugged her and patted her back gently.
"Tell me, what happened?"
Instead of answering him, Clarissa just held him tightly and buried her face in his chest.
Because it was still early, Sierra and Robert hadn't woken up.
At the same time, Anne and Marf were also sleeping soundly in bed.
After Anderson felt that Clarissa had gradually calmed down, he held her shoulders, pushed her away from himself gently, and looked at her face.
At that moment, she had messy hair, red eyes, and an abnormal pale face.
The moment he saw that, his brows knitted.
Then, when he looked down, he found that she was not wearing shoes, and her delicate fair feet were even whiter than the white tiles.
At once, he was heartbroken.
"Why aren't you wearing your shoes? Aren't you afraid of catching a cold?"
As he spoke, he carried her without giving her a chance to speak.
Clarissa didn't move either. She just lie in his arms and let him hold her.
After the two of them entered the bedroom, Anderson placed her on the bed before bringing over a towel to wipe her feet. Later, he crouched in front of her and looked up at her. "What happened?"
By this time, Clarissa had regained her composure.
Although her face was still pale, it was much better than before.
Upon hearing his question, she shook her head.
"I'm fine. I just... had some nightmares."
Anderson raised his head and wiped the fine beads of sweat on her forehead.
"What have you dreamt?"
"It's just about some..." Clarissa frowned.
For some reason, she couldn't really remember what she had dreamed anymore.
It was as if she was clear about the dream she had last night, but when she wanted to share, she couldn't describe it.
Once Anderson saw the frown on her face, he knew what was going on with her.
In a deep voice, he said, "It's okay if you can't remember it. Since it's a dream, everything is fake. No matter how scary it is, it will be gone once you wake up. So, don't think too much, okay?"
For a while, Clarissa looked at him before she nodded.
"Are you hungry? Do you want to eat something?"
Clarissa shook her head and pursed her lips. "I want to drink water."
"Okay, wait for me. I'll be right back."
As he spoke, he stood up.
Suddenly, Clarissa held his hand nervously.
With that, he turned back, and he saw the nervousness in her eyes. She was staring at him as if he was her only life-saving straw.
At once, his heart softened.
He didn't know what dream brought out her fear.
However, he knew that her attachment toward him was deeper than her attachment toward anyone else.
So, as a man, he was definitely blessed to be someone that his beloved woman could depend on.
Thinking about that, he smiled. Then, he bent down and lifted her without warning.
Shocked, Clarissa asked, "What are you doing?"
"Aren't you afraid?"
Anderson laughed mischievously. "You're so scared that you won't even let me leave for a minute. Since that's the case, I'll carry you down to get some water with me."
When Clarissa heard this, she was flushed.
With that, she hugged his neck and struggled.
"Don't be like this. Put me down."
"I won't."
"What if you're scared again?" he teased.
"I didn't..." Clarissa was embarrassed, but when she thought of how fearful she was when she woke up in darkness, she immediately shut her mouth.
Looking at her, Anderson knew what she was thinking.
As his eyes deepened, he immediately carried her downstairs.
In the living room downstairs, Anderson put her on the sofa and went to pour a cup of warm water for her. After she finished her water, he asked, "How do you feel now?"
While licking her lips, Clarissa answered, "Much better. I'm fine now."
"Do you want to go back to bed again?"
She glanced at the sunlight outside the window and shook her head. "No."
"Alright then. Let's go back to the room and change our clothes first."
As he suggested, he lifted her and walked toward the bedroom.
Back in the bedroom, Clarissa changed her clothes. At this time, the fear in her heart had completely dissolved.
Then, Anderson held her hand and walked out of the bedroom together. Coincidentally, Sierra and Robert came out of their bedroom as well.
When Sierra saw them, she smiled. "It rained last night. Did you hear that?"
For a while, Clarissa was in a daze before she shook her head. "No."
Hearing that, Sierra smiled. "It rarely rains here. In fact, most of the time in a year, the climate here is dry. Although it rained when you guys are here, it's a pity that it was during the night and you missed it. Otherwise, I am sure you will be happy to see it."
As this place was located in the desert, it was normal to have less rain.
Therefore, Clarissa didn't think much about it.
After that, she went to the room next door and woke Anne. Thereafter, she helped Marf—who just awoke—to get dressed and brought them to wash up. Once they were done, they went downstairs to have breakfast.
For breakfast, the servants had prepared vegetable chowder. It was not a specialty here, but it was an Ascijanese breakfast, which suited Anderson and Clarissa's taste.
As they ate, they chatted with each other.
Later, Sierra started to talk about last night's performance and asked, "Speaking of this, who was the acquaintance you met yesterday? Was that acquaintance of yours having some trouble?"
Clarissa shook her head.
"Actually, we're not really acquaintances. When we were exiting the theater, he helped Anne when she was about to fall. Then, on the way back, we saw his car at the side of the road and knew his car broke down. So, we gave him a ride."
Hearing that, Sierra nodded. "Oh, I see. I thought he is one of Anderson's business associates."
Anderson and Clarissa didn't tell Sierra about their conjecture about Coby's identity because they did not have any concrete evidence.
However, at the mention of Coby, Clarissa suddenly came up with an idea.
So, after breakfast, she called Emmeline and asked if Emmeline had a photo of Coby.
When Emmeline heard her question, she felt strange.
"Why do you want his photos?"
Being asked, Clarissa told her what happened last night.
"I hope you won't mind me for being careful. Since you and Jara are involved in this matter, I have to be more cautious. If he is Coby Marsh, then he knows us for sure. If that's the case, that means he was pretending not to know us and intentionally approach us. Therefore, just in case anything happens, I think we should double confirm."
For a while, Emmeline pondered and replied, "I don't have his photo, and there's not much information about him outside. Although I did see him personally, it's hard to describe. Well, why don't you give me a moment? I'll find someone to sketch his face and send it to you in the evening."
