Chapter 532 Family Banquet
"Uh? You mean..."
Thinking of Sophia's words, Roland rubbed the space between his eyebrows and said, "Nothing. It's just a formality."
After that, he hung up the phone.
It was not suitable for Sophia to know too much about his and his family's ways of dealing things now, so as not to frighten her. So, it was better to go to the police station as a matter of formality, in order to put her at ease.
......
Roland was a man of his words. He really slept in the guest room that night.
The next day, when Sophia woke up, it was already late in the morning.
She toured around the whole villa, but could not find Roland. She guessed that he must have gone to work.
Sophia was a little disappointed. She couldn't help but feel empty being all alone in the big villa. She could only go back to her room to wash herself up. However, after that, her cell phone rang. It was Roland.
Sophia swiped to pick up the phone. Roland's low and sexy voice reached her ears. "Are you awake now?"
Sophia blushed slightly. Actually, she didn't mean to sleep in. She usually wouldn't sleep for long but she had a nice sleep last night.
She stuck out her tongue and said yes.
"What do you want to eat for lunch?"
Sophia thought for a moment and subconsciously assumed that he was coming back for dinner, so she said, "Whatever. I'm fine with anything."
"That's not a valid answer. Make your choice. I'll get someone to deliver it to you."
Only then did Sophia realize that he was not coming back for lunch, and she thought she was reading into things too much.
"A light meal should suffice. I'm not picky about food."
Roland assented and did not say another word.
He didn't speak, and Sophia didn't have much to talk about, so they fell silent for a moment. Just as she was wondering if Roland had hung up, he suddenly said, "Someone will deliver to you some daily necessities and clothes this afternoon. Open the door for them."
Sophia nodded. Realizing that he couldn't see her, she said, "Okay."
After hearing her answer, Roland fell into silence again.
Sophia felt a little confused. "What's wrong with him? Is he sitting idle at work? Why doesn't he talk when he is the one who made the call?"
After a long period of silence,Sophia finally couldn't hold herself back any longer. She asked tentatively, "Is there anything else? If there's nothing else, I'll hang up."
There was still no sound at the other end of the phone. After a long while, he said in a low voice, "Four o'clock in the afternoon, I'll take you to do your hair makeup. In the evening, I'm bringing you with me to a family banquet."
Sophia was stunned for quite a while. It took her quite a while to understand what he meant by that.
"Is he going to announce our relationship?" Sophia thought.
She blushed a little and hesitated for a moment before she said, "Isn't it a little too fast?"
Roland was slightly surprised by her words for a moment.
Immediately, his whole mood was lifted, as a smile spread across his features.
Much to Roland's surprise, Sophia was complaining things were moving too fast instead of directly refusing him.
It seemed that she still knew that he was good to her.
Roland was happy and decided to strike while the iron was hot. He said seriously, "Not fast. Since we have already married, we have to announce it sooner or later."
Sophia was still hesitating. "But..."
Roland joked, "Are you nervous about meeting my family?"
Sophia pouted with dissatisfaction and said, "You're the nervous one!"
"Haha..."
Roland laughed, which was a rare sight to see. In the office, Quan was petrified to see the bright smile on Roland's face.
"Oh my God, I am afraid that he has never laughed so heartily in his 27 years of living. The power of love!" Quan thought.
Roland didn't know what was on Quan's mind. He smiled for a while and said, "Good girl, I'll come to pick you up tonight."
After that, he hung up the phone.
He raised his head to look at Quan who was standing by the side. As Roland was in a pretty good mood, he waved his hand and said, "Call Morris here."
Quan replied, "Yes."
Roland was the only one left in the office. He stood up from behind the office table, walked over to the ceiling-to-floor window, and then looked down at the traffic below with his narrowed eyes.
What happened last night served as a reminder for him.
Two years ago, Sophia was on the news because of the misunderstanding. Although he knew that the person back then was him, in order to protect another person, he couldn't say anything. Nevertheless, he wouldn't allow Sophia to be bullied like this again. The only way was to let everyone know that she was his legally married wife.
No one in the world would dare to bully his wife!
......
After lunch, the courier arrived.
Sophia politely invited them into the house. Her eyes widened in surprise when she saw they were moving boxes into the house one by one as if they were moving house.
This... This was too much!
Although Sofia was surprised, she still went to pour a glass of water for each of the workers and asked them to have a rest. She was just being polite, but these people were flattered and said, "Thank you, Mrs. Blaine."
Sophia's face couldn't help but turn red.
In fact, in the past two years, she was on a work-study programme alone in Flintland, therefore, she had gone through a lot. So she had never looked down upon the working-class people. After chatting with them for a while, she knew that they were all employees holding entry-level positions in the Blaine Group.
Clueless about what was inside the box, Sophia only asked them to move the items into the living room and then let them go.
Then, Sophia had spent the entire afternoon unboxing everything.
Roland was very attentive. Not only did he buy her clothes and shoes, he also bought her daily necessities.
It was not until this moment that Sophia really believed she was married although she was a little reluctant at first. Besides, she had come to his house to live with him. According to what he said this morning, she would be meeting his family tonight, so there was no turning back!
Sophia thought about it for a long time before she finally made up his mind. If there was no turning back, so be it! She wanted everyone who had looked down on her before to know that she was living her best life and there was nothing for them to be worried about.
At four o'clock in the afternoon, Roland arrived home on time.
Without entering the house, he called Sophia in the car. After a while, he saw Sophia in plain clothes running out of the villa.
Sophia was tired and covered in sweat after tidying things up for the whole afternoon. As she just came out from the shower, she smelled really good. Roland's lips curled up in a weak smile when he smelled it. He leaned closer to the nape of her neck and took a sniff. "What a nice smell."
Sophia's face turned red. "Stop it."
"Heh!" Roland was pleased by her shyness. Roland's heart swelled as he drew her head closer and pressed his lips against hers.
Sophia's lips were soft and sweet. He couldn't never get enough of her. Gradually, he deepened the kiss as his hand began to roam all over her body.
Sophia was almost suffocated by his kiss. When she felt his hand moving to her chest, her body froze. She pushed him and snorted softly, "Don't."
