Chapter 446 I'm Honored

Lauren lowered her eyes and looked at the hand he had stretched out. Her lips curled up into a smile.
"I already know you, Young Master Tory. Your speech on stage just now was very touching."
She didn't reach out her hand.
Tory stiffened slightly.
Then, he retracted his hand as if nothing had happened and smiled. "You flattered me, Miss Jones. I would like to thank you for your support on the charity cause. With this money, we can give those children with autism a better chance of recovery. It's a wonderful cause."
Lauren raised her eyebrows. "So, isn't your contribution even greater?"
"You can't say that. After all, we are in the position where it's reasonable for us to dedicate ourselves to the country and the people."
Tory turned to Uri and asked, "Do you want to stay and attend the dinner party?"
Uri shook her head and said, "I still have something to do tonight, so I won't attend. Do you want to stay?"
Tory's eyes dimmed a little. Although it was only for a moment, Lauren was still able to capture it.
Tory smiled gently. "No, I have some business to deal with at night."
"Then let's have dinner together?"
"Sounds good!"
When Lauren saw that they were chatting well, she did not intend to be the third-wheel. Hence, she turned around and prepared to leave.
However, just as Lauren was about to move her feet, she was suddenly stopped by Uri.
"Miss Jones, would you mind joining us for dinner?"
Lauren was slightly stunned.
Even a fool could tell that Tory wanted to have dinner with Uri alone. Maybe he had other purposes.
So she should not have tagged along and disturbed them.
However, she did not have the heart to turn Uri down when Lauren looked into Uri's eyes.
After a moment, she smiled and nodded. "I'm honored."
The three of them went to the fourth floor of the Oriental Hotel together.
On the fourth floor, there was an open-air restaurant. There were a few VIP private rooms indoors. Because a lot of people came to the auction today, the VIP private rooms had been fully booked.
Uri showed an apologetic expression and said, "If you don't mind, shall we sit in the hall?"
Since Uri had said that, Tory naturally agreed.
Lauren was fine with it too.
The three of them walked to a seat by the window and sat down.
As the host, Uri was the one who ordered the dishes. She ordered all the chef specialties here and a pot of black tea. After that, the three of them started chatting.
They chatted for a while on their way to the restaurant from the auction hall. Therefore, the three of them had some understanding towards each other's backgrounds.
Tory smiled and said, "I don't know. Miss Jones is from the Jones family in Visstead. It's no wonder that you're so generous."
Lauren said calmly, "It's all because of Jeromia that I wanted to keep the old mansion as a token of remembrance! But Miss Holland, based on what I know, you and Jeromia did not know each other, and yet you are willing to bid for it at such a high price. This really surprises me."
Uri raised her eyebrows and said with a smile, "You can do whatever you want but you're depriving my rights to do the same!"
Lauren pursed her lips lightly and did not respond.
A moment later, the dishes were served.
Uri asked someone to open a bottle of red wine and took the opportunity to whisper something in Tory's ear when the waiter poured the wine.
Tory raised his eyebrows and a smile appeared at the corner of his mouth.
"So Miss Jones is also Jeromia's disciple? Forgive me for not knowing before."
In the auction, in order to successfully bid for the old mansion, Lauren wrote a note to Uri, which said, "It's where my beloved master used to live. I'm biding it as a token of remembrance. Much appreciated if you could give it to me."
She knew that with Uri's wealth, if she really wanted to acquire the old mansion, Lauren had no place to compete with Uri over it!
Therefore, she could only come up with such a bad idea!
Fortunately, Lauren was right about Uri being a person who valued friendship very much, although she was born into a rich family. Thus, she probably just took part in the auction on the spur of the moment and would not insist on buying that house.
She smiled faintly and said, "I wouldn't consider myself as his disciple. It's just that when I was young, I used to learn from him for a period of time. Later, when I came to the Flaucford, I wanted to thank him, but I didn't expect that he had already passed away. Now that I have the chance, I wanted to buy that house to keep as a memory!"
Tory's expression changed slightly.
Tory's eyes were calm, but there was a flash of gloom on his face.
"If Jeromia is still alive and knew what have Miss Jones done, he would have been very gratified."
Uri patted him on the shoulder as a comfort.
Tory gently smiled at her.
Lauren felt a little awkward. She shut her mouth and didn't want to say anything else.
They finished their meal quickly.
The three of them finished their meal and prepared to leave.
Just as they reached the door, Lauren stopped in her tracks.
Then, she deliberately took a step back and hid herself behind Uri quietly.
The next second, Lauren heard Uri's voice. "Hey? Mr. Green, what a coincidence!"
Lauren gritted her teeth and felt that she had been quite unlucky recently.
Jameson glanced at Uri nonchalantly before his gaze fell behind her.
"You've seen me! What are you still hiding?"
His voice was cold and impatient.
Lauren had no choice but to slowly walk out from behind Uri.
Uri looked at them and her eyes lit up.
"Oh! I forgot that Miss Jones and Mr. Green knew each other before."
As she spoke, she laughed and moved out of the way. That was when Jameson finally got the full sight of her.
Tory, who was standing by the side, had a faint smile on his face. He was as gentle and elegant as usual, but there was a gleam of darkness lurking in his eyes that could be hardly detected.
Lauren walked to Jameson and whispered, "What are you doing here!"
Jameson took her hand and was about to leave.
Jameson had no intention of paying any attention to Uri or Tory ever since he was here.
Uri took the initiative to say hello to him. At this time, she looked slightly embarrassed.
Tory narrowed his eyes and glanced at the few people behind Jameson. He said, "The Ethanbez Family is indeed something else. You need to be accompanied by so many people when you eat! What an entrance you have made!"
If someone else had said the same thing, he or she might sound as if he or she was jealous and provoking the other party.
However, Tory's gentle tone, coupled with his sincere smile, sounded like he was just joking!
Jameson gave him a cold look.
Jameson then opened his mouth and asked, "Who are you?"
Everyone was stunned.
Lauren was also stunned for a moment, and then she almost burst out laughing!
Although the Irving family in the Flaucford could not be compared to the four great families, nor could it be compared to the well-known Ethanbez Group overseas, it could still be considered as a medium-sized wealthy family.
What's more, everyone knew that Tory was quite a cunning person. Now that he was able to get close on Uri's side, he would have grabbed the opportunity to rise high soon.
For the sake of their future, they could not wait to curry favor with him. Who would deliberately embarrass him?
In fact, Lauren had never taken a liking to Tory because she had heard a lot of scandals about him. But she did not make any comments out of courtesy.
At this time, when Lauren heard Jameson's words, she couldn't help but secretly praise him in her heart.
"Jameson! You are so cruel!"
Looking at Tory's expression as if he had eaten a fly, his face was clearly twisted, but he still pretended to be natural and calm, Lauren felt refreshing!
