Chapter 457 Their Child
Clarissa stroked her belly gently. Thinking that she would have a cute child like Anne soon, she could not help raising the corners of her mouth sweetly.
"Anne, did great-grandma tell you that you're going to have a little brother or sister soon?"
At the mention of this, Anne suddenly became excited.
"I know. Great grandma said that the purpose of your trip this time was to pick a younger brother or sister for me. So when you come back, I will have a younger brother or sister!"
As she spoke, she was also a little curious.
"Mommy, where will you guys be making the selection? Can I come over and find one that I like?"
Hearing her words, Clarissa was speechless for a moment. She didn't know what to say.
She couldn't help laughing and said softly, "Anne, we don't get to choose. It's all in God's plan. In fact, no matter who they are, you will love them very much, right?"
"Of course, that's for sure."
Anne pretended to be a grown up. "I am the elder sister. I will definitely take good care of them in the future. If they all listen to me, I will take them out to play and buy a lot of delicious food for them."
Listening to her sweet and lovely voice, Clarissa's heart was all warm and tender.
At this time, in the video, Old Madam Jordan came out from behind.
"Anne, it's getting late. Don't disturb your mommy's rest. We'll talk to her next time, shall we?"
Anne was still a little reluctant, but when she thought that Clarissa still had to rest, she could only nod.
"All right."
She turned around and waved at the camera.
"Mommy, I'm going to sleep. You should go to bed early too."
Clarissa curled her lips and said, "Okay, good night."
"Good night, mommy."
Anne pouted and kissed the camera, before hanging up the phone.
After the video call was over, Nora walked over from behind.
She handed a glass of milk to Clarissa and said with a smile, "You were on a video call with Miss Anne? I think Anne misses you a lot."
Clarissa smiled. In fact, she also knew that Anne missed her very much. But after all, Anne had the company of Old Madam Jordan. If Clarissa didn't come here, no one would help her to deal with the matters here.
Nora's eyes lit up as if she had thought of something.
"Clarissa, don't you think that Miss Anne resembles you?"
Clarissa was stunned and said with a smile, "Nora, when did you learn to be a toady like that?"
Nora shook her head innocently.
"Clarissa, I wasn't being a toady. I mean it seriously. I didn't think so before when Miss Anne was still very young. As she grows older, her facial features are more mature. If you look more carefully, she does resemble you."
Clarissa couldn't help laughing.
"If anything, she should resemble Anderson rather than me. Even though I'm her mother, I'm not her biological mother after all. How can she look like me?"
Nora parted her lips and wanted to say something, but Clarissa interrupted her.
"Where's Anderson? Where did he go?"
"Oh, Mr. Jordan and David went out together and said that they had something to do."
Clarissa frowned.
"He has been out for more than half a day today. Why does he still go out at night? Although the doctor said that he can walk freely now, his injury has not fully recovered yet and his body is weak. It's so cold outside. What if his wound worsens?"
Nora didn't say anything for a while. Clarissa also knew that Nora shouldn't be blamed for this. So she could only frown and stood up, walked to the window and waited.
Anderson came back in half an hour.
It was November now. F Country was located in the north, hence it was freezing cold in Blink City now.
From a distance, she saw a black car stop downstairs.
Anderson, who was dressed in a black coat, got out of the car with David and entered the gate downstairs.
Clarissa let out a sigh of relief and turned back to the room.
Soon, Anderson and David returned to the room.
As soon as they entered the door, Clarissa felt the chill on them.
She quickly got Nora to take the clothes that the other party handed over and asked, "Where did you go? It's so late and cold outside."
Anderson glanced at her and did not rush to say anything. Instead, he told David and Nora to go back to rest first. When there were only the two of them left in the room, he said, "I've sent someone to investigate the background of the woman we met during the day."
Clarissa was stunned.
Anderson looked at her with a gentle smile and led her to sit down on the sofa.
"I can see that you're really worried about it. Rather than worrying about it, it's better to find out the truth and make yourself at ease."
Although there was heating in the room, she could still feel the coldness of his hand while he was holding hers. Somehow, Clarissa felt touched from the bottom of her heart.
She quickly sniffed and suppressed her emotions.
"What did you find out?"
"There is indeed a group of people who have been following her, but they are not members of the Sapphire family. We don't know their specific background, but we can roughly guess that they must have something to do with Mark's death."
Clarissa shuddered.
She didn't know what that outcome would bring, but she suddenly felt uneasy in her heart.
Just then, Anderson suddenly sneezed.
Clarissa's eyelid twitched. She quickly patted his back and got up to pour a glass of warm water for him.
"What's wrong with you? Are you not feeling well?"
Anderson shook his head.
"It's okay. It was windy outside, so I might have caught a cold."
As he spoke, he drank a few mouthfuls of water.
Clarissa could see that his face was extremely pale, which was worse than it was this afternoon, so she reached out to touch his forehead.
That was when Clarissa realized that he was having a fever and his forehead was burning hot.
Clarissa's facial expression changed immediately.
"Why don't you tell me you're having a fever? I'll call the doctor right away."
As she spoke, Clarissa got up to call a doctor.
However, before she could move, her wrist was grabbed by Anderson. With a little force, she was pulled into his arms.
Clarissa immediately became anxious.
"Anderson, stop fooling around. You're still seriously injured and having a fever. Are you trying to get yourself killed?"
Anderson laughed in a low voice.
He held her in his arms and made her sit on his lap. He lowered his head slightly and leaned closer to her, with his big warm palm covering her belly.
"There's no hurry. I can see the doctor at any time. Let me have a look at our child first."
As he said this, he bent over and leaned his ears against her belly.
Clarissa didn't know whether to laugh or cry because of his behavior. But it was difficult for her to struggle in this position, so she could only hold his head and let him do whatever he wanted.
After listening for a while, Anderson didn't hear anything. He couldn't help but frown.
"Why didn't our child move?"
Clarissa couldn't help rolling her eyes.
"Do you think the baby will move just weeks after I'm pregnant? I'm only in the second month of the pregnancy, so the baby's heart hasn't even started beating yet. You would have to wait for another 5 months to six months to feel the movements."
