Chapter 478 Not A Gentleman

"It really is it. I can't believe that it is actually in your possession. It has gone missing for so many years . Is it real?"
Obviously, Old Master Jordan recognized what was in the box.He was so excited that his face was flushing. He gently touched the box with his hand, and then his body trembled slightly."
Harrison didn't say a word as he stood by the side and watched with a smile.
Seeing how excited Old Master Jordan was, Clarissa asked curiously, "Grandpa, do you know what is it?"
Old Master Jordan nodded.
Then his facial expression changed slightly.
"You're right. It's too expensive. We can't accept it."
He straightened his back and turned to look at Harrison. The excitement on his face had subsided as his gaze turned sharp.
"Tell me! What is your purpose of bringing this here today?"
Harrison smiled and picked up his cup to take a sip of tea. He then said slowly, "That's a strange question. My niece is getting married. Of course I'm here to give her a gift. What other purpose do I have?"
Old Master Jordan snorted coldly. "Do you think I will believe your nonsense?"
After a pause, he said gruffly, "I know very well how the Hampden family is even though others might not know. You won't do anything that does not benefit you. It's not possible that you don't want anything from us after you have given us such a precious gift."
Clarissa and Anderson were both a little surprised. They didn't expect Old Master Jordan to say something like that.
Harrison suddenly gave a cold and mocking smile.
"What you said doesn't make sense. The gift is especially for Clarissa. It's up to her to decide whether to accept it or not. If you want to gauge the heart of a gentleman with your own mean measure, I have no objection to that, but I'm afraid that some things are not for you to decide."
Old Master Jordan's face turned red because of his words.
After a long while, he let out a cold laugh.
"Gentleman? Well! If you can be regarded as a gentleman, then there will be no villain in the world."
Harrison obviously didn't come to quarrel with Old Master Jordan today. Although the two had got into argument countless times before, he knew clearly the purpose of his visit today.
So when he heard Old Master Jordan's words, Harrison did not refute but look at Clarissa with keen, flickering eyes.
"Clarissa, do you know what it is?"
Clarissa pursed her lips and shook her head.
"Have you heard of the story of the Bucheron Family Jade?"
She was slightly startled before her expression changed slightly.
Not to mention her, Clarissa believed that anyone who had been in primary school would know the story of the Bucheron Family Jade.
Such a priceless jade had been regarded as a treasure since the Warring States period. After thousands of years, it had gone missing and no one knew where it was.
Excitement welled up in Clarissa's chest as she recalled the history of this beautiful piece of jade. Nevertheless, when she took a glance at the jade disk in the box, she shuddered as she thought of something.
"So what you're saying is..."
Harrison smiled and nodded. He reached out his hand and took out the jade disk from the wooden box.
"This piece of jade was carved from the Bucheron Family Jade back then. The Bucheron Family Jade was so durable that it was passed on for nearly a thousand years until it went missing.
After that, my ancestor was lucky to have found it. But at that time, it was no longer as shining as it was thousands years ago and was a little damaged. Originally, my ancestor wanted to restore it to its original state to use it as a jade seal. Unfortunately, countless craftsmen failed to do so. Finally, they had no choice but to carve it into a jade disk."
He handed over the jade disk to Clarissa and said in a low voice, "This is your father's favorite when he was alive. He was prone to having high fevers so he often needed to touch this to fall asleep. Now I pass it to you. If you don't want it, just smash it. Anyway, now that Justin is no longer around, he doesn't need to use this anymore. Therefore, it's just a piece of stone when it has lost its function, no matter how beautiful the jade is."
Clarissa felt the palm of her hand sink as the jade disk was passed onto the palm of her hands.
She was slightly startled and raised her head to look at Harrison only to find him looking serious and his eyes cold. When he looked at the jade disk in her hand, there was a glint of complicity in the depth of his eyes.
Old Master Jordan also didn't expect that Harrison would do this.
But there was no way they were going to give it up since it had been delivered to their doorsteps.
Moreover, it was such a priceless treasure.
Previously, Old Master Jordan didn't want to accept it for fear that Harrison had other ulterior motives. But now that he had said so, what was there to be afraid of?
Old Master Jordan cleared his throat awkwardly and walked to Clarissa. He said in a low voice, "In this case, we have no choice but to accept it! After all, it was your father's belonging and not others'. Just keep it as a token of remembrance."
Clarissa's facial expression darkened as she turned to look at Old Master Jordan.
He seems to look a little awkward. After all, at his age, he really wasn't used to going back on his own words.
In the end, Clarissa let out a dry laugh.
"Grandpa, since you like it, why don't I give it to you. You like to collect this kind of antiques, don't you?"
Old Master Jordan's expression changed.
He gave her a sidelong glance before he shook his head repeatedly.
"No, I can't take this."
"Why not?"
"No reason, anyway, I can't take it."
Seeing Old Master Jordan shook his head adamantly, Clarissa didn't know whether to laugh or cry.
She turned around and returned the jade to Harrison.
"Harrison, since grandpa won't accept it, you'd better take it back!"
Harrison frowned.
"Clarissa, you have to think about it carefully. Not to mention that this is your father's relic, just its value..."
"I've already thought it through." Clarissa sounded indifferent and there was a calm smile on her face.
"Its value is exactly the reason why I can't accept it. Harrison, if I were you, I would donate it to the country. This is the cultural relics lost by the country, tracing back to the history of our country for more than a thousand of years. It should never belong to any of us. If you are aware of that, you should return it and I'll accept your favor."
Harrison was slightly stunned. He had never expected that she would say something like that.
After a moment, he suddenly burst out laughing.
"What you said... makes me feel ashamed of myself."
Clarissa pressed her lips together and didn't say anything else.
The group of people sat for a while. Since Clarissa turned Harrison down, he had been silent.
He had been sitting there silently. No one knew what he was thinking.
When it was time for dinner, Harrison left in a hurry without having dinner.
Clarissa and Anderson had dinner together with them before returning home.
The Starbay Villa was located in a villa area halfway up the mountain. Not only the scenery was very beautiful, the air was fresh as well.
They ate a little too much. They got out of the car halfway and let David drive back by himself so they could take a stroll back to help with their digestion.
The altitude on the mountainside was already a little high. Looking out from a distance, thousands of houses were reduced to constellations of lights, illuminating the city.
