Chapter 453 Worried About Her
Next to Gilly was a man who looked extremely young. He was wearing a dark red suit and gem earrings. His peach blossom eyes seemed to be smiling when he gazed at people. The corners of his mouth were upturned with a hint of evilness. One could tell from his well-groomed appearance that he came from a rich family.
He seemed to notice that Lauren was looking at him, so he turned his head slightly and looked at her.
Marty turned his head and looked at Lauren too.
Marty's face lit up with joy when he saw a familiar face in the crowd — Lauren.
Lauren raised her glass to him from afar, gesturing to him that he could continue with his conversation with the few gentlemen by his side.
At this time, Uri appeared, walking arm in arm with Claus. They immediately became the centre of attraction of the party.
Uri was wearing a purple dress tonight. She was looking elegant and graceful. Uri was led by Claus though the crowd, her demeanor was neither servile nor overbearing.
It was not difficult to see that Claus had high hopes for Uri. The Holland family had a total of three children. The eldest and the second eldest were the children of his wife, and only the third son was born illegitimately.
However, when they heard that the illegitimate son, Jara, had returned to the country recently, everyone began to speculate the future of the Holland family.
Lauren hadn't seen Jara at the party, nor was she bothered by it.
After walking around the hall with Uri, Claus walked to Marty's side with a faint smile and chatted with him for a while.
Then, Claus turned his eyes and felt a little surprised.
Then he walked toward Jameson with a smile.
Claus knew who Jameson was. Although they were in the same generation, they didn't have much contact with each other due to their age difference.
Furthermore, Jameson was cold and aloof and did not like socializing. Therefore, he seldom showed up on such occasions. His appearance today was a surprise to many who knew him. However, they did not come forward and butter up to him as they knew his temperament. Those who did not know him could tell that he came from an extraordinary background, but they were stupefied by his serious appearance and did not dare to approach him.
Claus laughed and said, "Hey! Young Master Jameson, you're really a special guest!"
Jameson's lips curled slightly, and he humbly said. "You must be kidding, Mr. Holland. The Holland family and the Ethanbez family have been supporting each other for many years. Since Miss Holland has invited me, of course, I'll come."
Uri smiled and nodded to Lauren at first, and then she said, "Mr. Green, thank you for coming. We are flattered by your presence. Let me propose a toast to you."
After that, she picked up her wine glass.
Jameson did not say anything. He gently clinked his glass against hers and drank it in one gulp.
"This is?"
Claus looked at Lauren and asked with a gentle smile.
Jameson explained nonchalantly, "My wife, Lauren."
He lowered his head and said to Lauren gently, "Lauren, greet him."
Lauren also nodded politely and smiled slightly. "I've long heard of your name, Mr. Holland. I'd like to propose a toast to you."
Her well-behaved appearance obviously pleased Claus, so although he was surprised by the fact that Jameson was married, he still laughed merrily and said, "Okay, I see!"
After that, he picked up his glass of wine and drank it up.
At this time, Gimmy also came to say hello.
Gimmy naturally knew Lauren and Jameson. The three talked for a while. Lauren remembered that some time ago, she heard that Old Master Levine was in poor health, so she asked about him.
Gimmy sighed and shook his head.
"His health is getting worse. We've tried many ways, but none of them worked."
Upon hearing this, Lauren couldn't help but raise her eyebrows in worry.
Jameson said in a deep voice, "Old Master Levine has been through a lot for half of his life so he is destined to be showered with blessings for the rest for his life. So you don't worry about it too much, Gimmy."
Gimmy nodded.
He suddenly thought of something and asked, "By the way, have you been in touch with Clarissa recently?"
Lauren and Jameson looked at each other and did not speak.
Gimmy frowned and said, "Recently, I've been wanting to contact her, but I haven't been able to. Old Master Levine was very worried about her, so he found out from the Jordan family that she is currently abroad with Anderson. Do you know how is she doing now?"
Jameson thought about it and felt that if he did not tell the Levine family the truth, it would make them worry instead.
So he said, "She's in F Country now. Some time ago, Anderson was seriously injured, but now he's fine."
Gimmy's expression changed when he heard that Anderson was injured.
"How could he be injured? Didn't they say they were going overseas for a vacation? What happened to them?"
Jameson said in a deep voice, "It's not a big deal. If you want to know, you'd better ask them yourself."
As he spoke, Jameson told Gimmy about Clarissa and Anderson's contact overseas.
Only then did Gimmy feel slightly relieved.
After the banquet, Gimmy called Clarissa.
At that time, Clarissa had just sent Ryder off.
Because of Anderson's injuries, Elicia was still worried about the two of them staying in the hospital.
Now that Anderson could move around, she tried to persuade them to stay in the Ethanbez Family. Not only would it be convenient, it would also be safer.
The Ethanbez Family had their own family doctors and they should have no issues with tending to Anderson's injuries.
But this idea was rejected by Clarissa.
She didn't want to rely on the Ethanbez Family, not only because of Lia, but also because of her own special identity.
Clarissa didn't want the Ethanbez family to know that she had been in contact with people from the Lost Vanguard and the Sapphire family in order to investigate Mark's death.
Seeing this, since Ryder was not in a position to force her, he had left regretfully.
As soon as he left, Gimmy called.
"Clarissa, I heard that Anderson was injured? Are you guys alright?"
Clarissa was stunned. She thought about it and figured out that it must be Jameson who had told him about it.
She smiled lightly. "We're fine, Uncle Gimmy. Don't worry."
Gimmy sounded a little angry. "How can I be at ease with you like this? Why did you go to F Country all of a sudden? And you are injured. How are you? Is everything okay?"
Clarissa comforted him with a gentle voice, "I'm fine. It was just an accident. You don't have to worry about it too much."
Gimmy was silent for a moment.
"Tell me the truth. Are you investigating the Sapphire family?"
Clarissa pursed her lips slightly.
A moment later, she smiled and said, "Gimmy, although I am indeed very interested in the matter of my biological father, I have already asked you about what happened in the past before.
Since he has been dead for so many years, what's the purpose of investigating his family? To ask them for an explanation for what happened in the past?"
Gimmy was stunned.
He snorted. "Who knows what's in your mind?"
Clarissa smiled. "I'll take it as a compliment."
"You!"
Gimmy sighed helplessly. "All right, you win. But it's good to know that you are all right. When you are free, you should give grandpa a call. His health has been deteriorating again recently. You should care more about him."
Clarissa murmured, "Okay, I got it."
