Chapter 575 A Huge Risk

"I think he focuses on it, so he may not want to be distracted to participate in the film festival at this time."
Upon hearing this, Clarissa frowned slightly.
Although this kind of film festival was very important, Freddie, as a famous director, didn't really need the exposure. Therefore, it was not a big deal whether he could participate in it or not.
But...
He wanted to film a sci-fi movie?
What did that mean?
Everyone knew that the sci-fi movies made locally were basically cursed.
Every one of them was a failure, and none of them made money.
Over the years, the audience, directors, actors, or even investors had lost hope in any materials related to a sci-fi movie.
It was not something any talented director or great actor could change. The problem was more on the technical difficulties, and it was impossible to make a breakthrough in a short period of time.
And Freddie actually said that he wanted to film a sci-fi movie?
Was there something wrong with his brain?
Rubbing her temples, Clarissa said to Rosie, "When did you hear him say that?"
Rosie tried to recall.
Then she answered, "About three or four days ago. I heard it when I passed by his office at noon."
Clarissa felt her head ached even more.
Based on her intuition, as long as it was something Freddie had decided, it was impossible to change it.
He was stubborn.
While thinking of it, she waved her hand feebly. "Alright. You may leave now."
Nodded, Rosie turned around and walked out.
As expected, soon after Rosie went out, Freddie came in with a big pile of documents and a grin on his face.
The moment she saw him, Clarissa's eyelids trembled subconsciously. She almost dropped her cup to the floor.
"Clarissa."
Freddie was smiling as he walked in pretentiously.
As soon as she saw his smile, Clarissa knew that he must have come to tell her about the movie.
Headache.
Not knowing what to say at first, she waved her hand and motioned him to sit down.
"Director Jordan, what's up?"
Since last year, Freddie was contracted as a film director under Energence International Crop.
Therefore, in other words, Clarissa was his superior.
Upon hearing her question, Freddie immediately smiled and said, "Nothing much. It's just that... there's something I need to discuss with you."
Probably because he knew that his proposal would be a huge risk, in fact, it could even be unreasonable. So when he replied, he couldn't help but to sound slightly guilty.
Initially, Clarissa was still having a headache, but after seeing his attitude, her headache was relieved, and on the contrary, she found it interesting.
In order for the famous director, Freddie, to look so guilty, Clarissa wondered how big of a proposal he was going to propose?
No longer in a hurry, Clarissa sat calmly on the chair, as she looked at him, and said with a smile, "Oh? What's the matter? Tell me about it."
Feeling uneasy, Freddie rubbed his hands, and hesitated for a few seconds before saying, "Well, Fritz and I have recently planned a project. We have already got the outline and the fundamental idea of the script written out. Do you want to have a look first?"
When she heard the question, she nodded.
Immediately, Freddie picked up a few from the pile of documents and placed them in front of her.
Taking it over, Clarissa roughly look through it.
Compared to the scripts from TV series, movie scriptss were relatively simpler.
As long as there was a brief introduction of the characters, and a simple plot of the movie, it would be enough.
The rest of it would have to rely on the director's skills to manifest them.
After reading the outline of the script, Clarissa fell silent.
To be honest, this script was not bad compared to other science fiction films in the country. After all, the basic quality was there.
However, if the film was to be shot according to the script, it would require a huge investment in order to reach the level written in the script.
Although Anderson was not short of money,. and Energence International Crop also had enough funds to invest in it, it didn't mean that the money should be spent as they please.
As a company, they should take into consideration the return on investment. Although Clarissa was the CEO of Energence International Crop, she could not just ignore everyone else's opinion, and blindly invested a large sum of money into this project just because she admired Freddie's work and trusted him.
Putting down the documents in her hand, she looked at Freddie, and asked, "You've never filmed anything related to sci-fi before, right?"
Upon hearing the question, Freddie nodded.
"Then why do you want to film this movie this time?"
When the question was asked, Freddie looked slightly repentant.
"I'm not afraid to tell you the truth. Do you know Khalid, who passed away last year?"
Khalid was quite a well-known director in the circle. His work mainly focused on animation and literary movies. Clarissa had once watched one of his works and thought he was quite a spiritual person.
Although there were still many flaws in his work, he already had what it would take to become a famous director.
At that time, she was already planning to sign him into Energence International Crop.
But unfortunately, before she could take action, she received news saying that Khalid had died at home suddenly from overworking.
Because Khalid was not very famous and had no impact outside the entertainment industry, very few people knew about his death.
However, it caused quite a stir in the entertainment circle.
As a film director, sometimes it was quite tough.
Although there was a big return, the road to fame was unimaginable for most people.
When she received the news of Khalid's death, Clarissa felt remorseful for a long time. She thought that he could have been a rising star, but because of hard work, he died young.
For several days, she felt depressed about it, and only felt better after a while.
So, when Freddie mentioned this person, she suddenly realized that it had been a year since Khalid's death.
All of a sudden, she felt as if she detached from reality.
Shaking her head, Clarissa gathered her thoughts and asked, "I remember him. Why do you ask?"
Frowned, Freddie looked sad.
"Actually, we're friends. Although he was over ten years younger than me, we met a few years ago, and he was a very creative director. He was just very unlucky, plus he was quite a lofty person, so he was misunderstood."
"The script that you are looking at right now is actually the idea he proposed back then. Of course, I know what you are worried about. When he mentioned he wanted to film a sci-fi movie, I had the same concerns."
"As a director, we can't just focus on what we want to film or what we want to express, and ignore the reality and the level of acceptance by the audience. So I've advised him several times to not get involved in this project."
