Chapter 745 Breaking the Rules
For a moment, Uncle Poick was stunned.
When he left just now, Kayla was still having dinner in the other building. How did she end up here so quickly?
Thinking that Jara was still in the study room, he panicked and hurriedly went to her.
On the other side, Kayla was in a daze.
Just now, that servant only mentioned that Jara was in the study upstairs, but she did not tell her which room.
Upon arriving upstairs, she found that there were too many rooms and the doors were shut. So, she didn't know which one was the study.
Having no choice, she had to check the rooms one by one.
Quietly, Kayla opened every door and peeked. As she was afraid that she would seem rude, she didn't dare to make too much noise.
By doing that, she looked like she was sneaking around in the eyes of others.
When Uncle Poick was walking toward Kayla, she was placing the tray on the ground. Then, she leaned against the door, turned the doorknob, and poked her head inside to take a look.
Once she found that it was just an undecorated guest room, she was a little disappointed and moved back out.
After she closed the door, she bent down and picked up the tray before she got up.
Unexpectedly, when she turned backward, she bumped into someone.
Shocked, Kayla subconsciously screamed. However, before anyone could hear her screaming, Uncle Poick covered her mouth.
While covering her mouth, he pulled her aside. After that, he released her and questioned, "Miss Burke, why are you here?"
At that moment, Kayla was very displeased with Uncle Poick covering her mouth and dragging her away.
But thinking that he was the butler of the castle and she was just a guest, she could only suppress the dissatisfaction in her heart.
Deep down, she held a grudge toward him and thought, "When I become Mrs. Holland, I'll make you pay for this."
With this thought in mind, she was much calmer, and she replied in a very gentle and polite voice, "Uncle Poick, I'm here to see Mr. Holland."
Hearing this, Uncle Poick frowned.
"Is there anything you need to talk to him about?"
With a smile, Kayla showed him the tray. "Just now, when I was having my dinner, I suddenly thought that Mr. Holland might not have eaten yet. So, I picked some nice dishes and brought them here. Is Mr. Holland in the study?"
At once, Uncle Poick's face darkened before he said, "Please take the food back. As I've told you, he usually has his meal in the other dining room."
At first, he thought that his harsh and stern words would scare Kayla away.
However, she acted as if she didn't hear it.
Holding the food, she chuckled, "How do you know that he doesn't want it? It's already late, and he is still busy, so I am sure he hasn't eaten yet, and since I have time in my hands, I shall send these to him to express my gratitude."
After that, she was going to head over without any hesitation.
When Uncle Poick saw that, he got nervous.
Once again, he quickly stopped her.
"Miss Burke, please go back. Outsiders are not allowed to enter Mr. Holland's study."
Upon hearing his words, Kayla glanced at him.
Her eyes were a little cold.
"Did he said that too?"
Uncle Poick replied in a low voice, "Of course."
"Oh, but I didn't hear him. When he said this, I was not even here yet. So, I believe this doesn't apply to me, and whatever rules you have to obey are none of my business."
Although her tone was gentle and she laughed softly, each of her words sounded uncompromising.
It didn't occur to Uncle Poick that she would have such an attitude.
All of a sudden, he was knocked down with a feather.
Then, Kayla looked behind him again.
Her eyes fell on the door that he just came out of, and she smiled. "Is that the study room? Relax, Uncle Poick. I'll come out after delivering the food, alright? Mr. Holland hasn't eaten for so long. He must be hungry. So, I'll go first."
After that, she didn't care about his reaction and strode away.
Seeing this, Uncle Poick immediately grew frantic.
He wanted to stop her, but Kayla was quick-witted. She tilted her body and dodged him.
After all, she was young, and her body was flexible. Besides, Uncle Poick had never encountered such a rude situation. Hence, he wasn't prepared.
Being caught off-guard, Uncle Poick didn't manage to stop Kayla. After recovering his senses, he realized that she had run to the door of the study, and his blood ran cold. Immediately, he chased after her.
"Miss Burke! Miss Burke, please wait!"
Although he kept shouting for her, Kayla ignored him.
Right away, she pushed open the half-closed door to the study.
In the study, Jara was standing in front of the floor-to-ceiling window. With his back facing the door, he was talking on the phone.
Hearing the sound behind him, he turned around and saw Kayla, who was standing at the door.
At that time, Kayla was wearing a beige dress. When she was resting in the guest room before dinner, she deliberately picked it from the closet.
After all, in the past, she came from a decent family. At home, she had the best outfits and meals. Besides, there had never been a shortage of luxury goods.
During this period of time outside, she was bullied and drifted from place to place. Therefore, she missed her previous life.
If it weren't for the fact that she didn't want to marry a man in his fifties, she would have gone back a long time ago.
However, she did not want to give up her own life, so she persisted. Despite this, if there were good things in front of her, she would definitely use them.
Moreover, she had come up with a plan that she thought was brilliant.
Jara was from the Holland family—one of the four great families in the Flaucford. Furthermore, he was high-likely to be the successor of his family and might take over the entire Holland Group in the future.
In fact, Kayla's father's company was nothing compared to Holland Group.
Hence, if she could win Jara over and go back to the Burke Family together, she might not have to marry that half-century-old man, and her father would look at her differently.
In the past, Kayla only believed in love.
She felt that as long as there was love, nothing else mattered.
However, after what she had gone through, she realized that in reality, love was nothing without a wealthy environment where she could lead an easy life.
Once, she had trusted that man, whom she was truly in love with, but in the end, he betrayed her.
As she couldn't get over it, she wanted to seek revenge.
However, given her current situation, she did not have the ability to do that.
Let alone revenge, as long as she appeared at Ascijan, Samej would immediately take her back. By that time, even if she told her father what happened, he might not listen to her and treat it as a lie to avoid getting married.
Moreover, she somehow discovered something else.
