Chapter 369 He Got Jealous
After all, humans were all subjective.
Sometimes, it took two to build trust in a relationship.
He trusted her, even if he didn't really want her to be an actress, especially if she had to act in a romantic scene with an actor. Even though he knew it was fake, Anderson would still feel uncomfortable about it.
But because it was something Clarissa was passionate about, so he chose to respect her.
Since he had made such a compromise, Clarissa naturally couldn't let him down any further. Hence, she had to be careful to avoid certain things to prevent them from becoming the stumbling block of their relationship.
On this day, Clarissa just finished a relatively intense fighting scene. As she was shooting a wartime drama, there were a lot of fighting scenes involved.
Clarissa's hand was injured, so she could not hold the heavy sword anymore. Therefore, after a discussion, the director changed it to a prop whip.
But the prop whip might seem easy and simple to handle, but in reality, learning it was even harder than sword training.
Clarissa had been learning for the whole afternoon. Finally, she had mastered it. After filming the scenes in the afternoon, she was ready to wrap-up for the day and go back to the hotel.
However, at this moment, a delivery man came.
"Excuse me, are you Miss Clarissa?"
Clarissa was stunned and nodded. "Yes, what's the matter?"
"Hello, these are your flowers and gifts. Please sign-off."
Clarissa was slightly stunned, not because of the huge bouquet of roses that she had received, but because there was a diamond necklace placed in the middle of the roses.
The pendant was heart-shaped with a diamond the size of a thumb inlaid in a blue plate. At first glance, one could tell that it was very valuable.
Clarissa could not help but ask, "Who sent these flowers? Can you tell me the other party's name or contact information?"
The staff member smiled and said, "Sorry, we have to maintain our client confidentiality. Without permission, we can't tell you."
Clarissa frowned slightly, but said nothing before signing-off.
After accepting it, she couldn't hold it because the bouquet was huge, so she asked the staff to put it directly on the ground at the side.
Then, she picked up the diamond necklace on it.
The necklace was exquisitely made. Clarissa could tell that it was not an ordinary jewelry being sold on the market, so it was probably custom-made.
Besides, it was rare to see such a big diamond, so Clarissa was more curious about the person who sent the necklace to her.
The other actors in the crew also gathered around.
"Wow, what a big diamond! It has to be at least ten karats!"
"Oh my god! Who sent this? He must be really rich!"
"Clarissa, how could your admirers be so rich? Never mind the red coral jewelry that is given by Mr. Jordan to you, but how could a fan give you such a big diamond?"
"It's worth at least 20 million dollars, isn't it? My God, it's equal to my pay for several films."
"I really envy you, Clarissa."
Most of the people around them were actresses from the same film. Upon hearing their words, Clarissa was a little absent-minded.
Her delicate brows were slightly furrowed. She had a gut feeling that things were not as simple as it seemed.
No matter how she looked at it, Clarissa did not think that an ordinary fan would give her such a valuable diamond necklace.
For some reason, she suddenly remembered that phone call from that night.
Her heart skipped a beat as her expression changed.
Looking at the actresses who were surrounding the diamond necklace, Clarissa said, "I'm sorry, I suddenly remembered that I have something urgent to do. I have to go back to the hotel now. I'll show them to you another day."
Then, she put the necklace away and left the set.
After returning to the hotel, she found an excuse to send Nora out.
Then, she sat cross-legged on the bed, holding her cell phone, staring at the phone number on the screen, struggling.
After a while, she finally plucked up her courage and hit the call button.
For a moment, Clarissa almost felt that her hands were trembling.
Clarissa broke out in cold sweat as she felt her heart was in her mouth.
However, just when she thought that the call would be connected soon.
A voice message was heard.
"Sorry, the number you dialed is not in service..."
Clarissa was speechless.
What did that mean?
Her expression changed slightly, and then she looked carefully at the numbers on the screen to make sure that she did not make any mistakes. Moreover, this number did not look like it was generated randomly. Instead, it should be the number he had been using for a very long time.
"Why is it not in service?"
Clarissa didn't give up and tried to call the number a few more times. However, just like before, every time she hit the call button, the same voice message was heard.
Her heart sank.
Suddenly, Clarissa felt like she might be having a delusion.
That phone call from that night was like a dream.
In fact, he had never appeared, nor had he ever made a phone call to her. It was all her imagination because she was too anxious.
Clarissa frowned. Her mind was in a mess as she felt a pulse in her temple.
She threw the phone on the bed, covered her head, and buried her face in her chest.
At this moment, the phone rang.
Out of reflex, Clarissa shuddered a little. She quickly picked up the phone, only to see that it was Anderson's call.
She could not help but let out a sigh of relief.
"Hello."
"What are you doing?"
Clarissa sounded tired. "I've just finished work. I'm at the hotel."
"All by yourself?"
"Yeah, I asked Nora to help me buy a book. She'll be back soon."
"Have you eaten yet?"
"Not yet."
Anderson paused and thought for a moment. Suddenly, he asked, "I heard that someone has sent you a gift today?"
Clarissa was stunned and subconsciously felt a little guilty.
"Uh... yes."
"Is it the same person?"
"That's right."
"Oh, of course my wife would be so popular!"
Anderson's tone was soft and gently, without any sign of anger.
However, Clarissa felt a chill running down her spine.
She hurriedly explained, "I don't know him. Really, I don't even know who he is."
Anderson sneered.
"That's really noble of him. He gave away a diamond worth more than 30 million without even leaving a name. I'm almost touched by he way he is giving without expecting return almost moved."
Clarissa was speechless.
Her expression darkened. "Anderson, you're not doubting me, are you?"
Anderson snorted coldly.
He didn't say anything.
Clarissa didn't say anything, and the other side of the line suddenly fell into silence.
After about ten seconds, she suddenly heard his voice.
"I'm jealous."
Clarissa was at a loss of words.
Without hearing her response, he was dissatisfied and repeated, "I said, I'm jealous!"
He raised his voice a little, not hiding the jealousy and dissatisfaction in his tone.
Clarissa suddenly burst into laughter.
Hearing her laughter, Anderson snorted on the other side of the phone.
"Laugh all you want. You're just taking the advantage of the fact that I love you more. Go ahead and laugh at me. If I had known this earlier, I would have locked you at home and wouldn't have allowed you to be an actress. You wouldn't even be able to leave our home. The only person that will be seeing you is me. No one will dare to pursue you after that."
