Chapter 659 Having a Baby

It had never occurred to Evelyn that her mother would say such a thing.
Moreover, she didn't expect that was her true thoughts.
A plethora of feelings overwhelmed her for a moment as she felt both complicated and touched.
Her father died early, so over the years, her mother had brought her up alone.
She cared for her and protected her. Even in such a harsh condition, she made sure she was not hurt.
Therefore, she was grateful to her mother. But behind the gratification, she always had a faint feeling that she seemed to have kidnapped her mother's life.
After all, if it weren't for her existence, her mother wouldn't have been forced to marry Forbos in the first place.
Later on, her mother actually had many chances to leave Forbos. She could have escaped to a place that no one knew about so that Forbos could not find her, and she didn't have to suffer living in such a bitter life.
But it was all because of her. After all, she was still a child. She needed to go to school, and she needed a stable life.
Therefore, her mother chose to tolerate, enduring the pain of life silently with tears and kept it a secret from everyone.
But even if others didn't know, how could she not know?
She was well aware that at least half of it was because of her.
Thus, at countless moments, she felt her heart ache as she watched her mother's aging face and graying hair, wondering how much of those wrinkles and grayed hair was formed because of her.
If possible, she really hoped that her mother could have her own interests, hobby, life, and the person she really wanted to spend the rest of her life with.
Therefore, she heard those words coming out of her mother's mouth suddenly.
While being shocked and touched, she felt that her dream had finally come true.
Reaching out her hand, Evelyn held her mother's hand while choking in tears.
"Mom, are you serious? If you go back to the south, can you really live on your own?"
In truth, she was still a little worried.
After all, it had been almost two years since Iris came to Flaucford. If she went back again, she would be alone. Could she really get used to it?
With a gentle smile, Iris raised her hand and gently wiped away the tears from the corner of her eyes.
Then, she said softly, "Of course, silly. Since I brought this up, I already made careful consideration. You don't have to worry about me."
"As for you, now that you've grown up, you can't throw a tantrum as casually as you used to. It's your blessing to have Marty doting on you. You have to know that you can't take everything for granted, okay?"
Pursing her lips, Evelyn muttered in a low voice, "I'm not willful."
Seeing this, Iris smiled and said nothing.
Still, Marty wanted to persuade her to stay as he said, "If you don't feel comfortable in the north, you can go to the south in winter and come back in summer. This way, you can live the best of both worlds. Since the transportation is developed now, nothing is inconvenient."
Hearing this, Evelyn nodded immediately and added, "Yes, yes. Mom, it's spring now, and it will get warmer soon. It's not necessary for you to go back to the south."
As Iris looked at them, and her eyes became gentler and loving.
Patting gently on Evelyn's hand, Iris said with a smile, "Silly girl, no matter how good it is here, it's not my hometown after all."
As soon as she finished her words, both of them were stunned.
It was only now that Evelyn remembered her mother's ancestral home, and she seemed to be from the south.
A long time ago, her father passed by the south during a war and met her mother, who was not married yet at the time. They fell in love at first sight and got together.
After they got married, her mother followed her father to Flaucford and settled down. Later on, when their father resigned, their first consideration was to go to the south.
Later on, when her father passed away, her mother had raised her in the south.
But, because of her, Iris came to Flaucford to accompany her while seeking medical help at the same time.
Having been drifting from place to place for so many years, no matter which city it was, she didn't have much sense of belonging to it.
But she forgot that her mother was different from her.
Her childhood was spent in different places, but her mother grew up in a place that was filled with warmth and love.
While her mother had never mentioned her childhood to anyone, that did not mean that her childhood was not happy.
As the saying goes, when a person became old, the hometown was the place they would reminisce the most.
All of a sudden, Evelyn seemed to understand what her mother had been holding on to.
Feeling slightly moved, she was still worried about her, However, she felt that if returning to the south would make her feel at ease and happy, it was not impossible.
With the thought in mind, she hugged her mother.
Resting her head on her shoulder, she said sulkily after a while, "Mom, I will miss you."
When she heard her coquettish tone, Iris couldn't help but laugh.
Then, she patted her back and replied with a smile, "Silly you. I'm only living in the south, and it's not like you can't see me in the future. When you do miss me, you can come back to see me anyway. Why are you so sad?"
Hearing that, Evelyn thought so too then agreed with her.
Although there was a distance, if she really wanted to see her, she could see her at any time.
With that in mind, the sadness of parting immediately reduced a lot.
Seeing that the decision had been made, Marty realized he would not be successful in persuading her to stay.
Hence, he could only comfort Evelyn helplessly.
"Mother is right. If she's happier to live in the south, then, of course, we should respect your mother's decision. Anyhow, I will with you to visit her in the future."
After being comforted by him, Evelyn felt much better. As she let go of her mother, she looked at her and said with grievance, "In that case, I'll come back often to see you in the future."
Hearing that, Iris felt the warmth at heart and she smiled while being amused by her.
"Well, you can come back at any time. If you don't have time to come back, I will come over when you have a baby."
Hearing what she said, Evelyn immediately blushed.
On the other hand, Marty was very happy as he took a meaningful look at Evelyn and pulled her over.
Solemnly, he promised Iris. "Mom, don't worry, I will try my best."
Meanwhile, Evelyn's face, which was already a little red, suddenly became even redder.
In reflex, she nudged Marty's belly with her elbow and replied embarrassingly. "What nonsense!"
As Evelyn didn't apply any strength, so naturally, he wouldn't feel pain.
Furthermore, with her gentle action, Marty wouldn't be hurt.
But in order to make her happy, Marty pretended to cry out in pain and looked at her remorsefully.
"Didn't Mom say that she'll come back when we have a child? Am I wrong to say that?"
For a moment, Evelyn was even more annoyed.
Then, she turned around and glared at him.
