Chapter 71 You're Jealous

"That's right! When Lara walked on the red carpet aboard, she didn't want to leave and wanted to be shot by cameras. I didn't expect that she doesn't even want to leave the red carpet on the school anniversary. She is so poor. You'd better not argue with us here. I think you should go home and raise money to propagandize for her so as to make her become more famous!"
"Bullsh*t! Lara is not like what you said! She was invited by the sponsor!"
"Yes, she has never acted in a famous movie but she is invited every year. I really don't understand why she is so shameless."
"Right! Lauren is much better than Lara! She refused to go to the ceremony because her name was not on the shortlist. Alas! Lauren is just so honest and charming!"
"Although Lara's name was not on the shortlist, they were willing to invite her!"
"That's right! You're just jealous of Lara! You're so mean!"
The fans were quarreling, and some fans of Lara almost cried because of anger.
On the red carpet, the smile on Lara's face froze for a moment.
But soon, she pretended that she didn't hear those people's sarcastic remarks and returned to normal.
Seeing that Clarissa didn't want to talk to her, she turned to Elliot and said, "Elliot, it's so cold here. Let's go to the guest seats!"
As she spoke, she held her arms which were exposed outside.
However, after waiting for several seconds, she didn't get a response from Elliot.
She frowned slightly and looked up.
She saw Elliot staring blankly in Clarissa's direction, and his eyes were full of obsession with Clarissa.
Lara's face darkened in an instant.
She clenched her fingers. Her anger overflowed and she felt so unwilling in her heart, but she suppressed her mad emotions.
She said stiffly with a fake smile, "Elliot, who are you looking at?"
Elliot finally came to sense.
He said in a hurry, "Nothing."
Lara's eyes flashed with a trace of sarcasm and hatred.
She took a deep breath and looked back at Clarissa with a gentle smile on her face.
"Clarissa is so beautiful tonight, right?"
Elliot was in a trance.
He really wanted to nod and admit that Clarissa was indeed very beautiful.
She even look more beautiful than how she looked like at Lara's birthday banquet.
It seemed that after Clarissa left him, she was like a dusty pearl that was gradually being polished. She became more and more attractive.
He felt really unreconciled and... regretful!
However, Elliot shook his head.
He looked away and lowered his head to look at Lara with a smile.
"You're prettier than her."
Lara sneered.
"But everyone is praising her! Elliot, don't tell me that you regret breaking up with her."
Elliot's eyes darkened immediately.
He shook his head and reached out to hold Lara's hand.
"How could it be? Since I chose you, I won't regret it. Moreover, no matter how beautiful she is, she will grow old one day. What I like is your personality. You're gentle, sensible, and considerate."
Lara stared into his eyes.
After a moment, she smiled gently.
"I know that you love me the most."
"Right."
Elliot tried hard to control his mind. When he saw that Lara had been holding her arms, he took off his suit in a hurry.
"It's cold, isn't it? Wear my clothes and let's sit inside."
"Okay. Thank you, Elliot."
It was not until the two of them had left together that Lauren and Clarissa left the signature wall.
Lauren sneered, "If it weren't for the fact that I'm wearing a dress, I would really go forward and slap them in the faces. D*mn it! They make me sick!"
Compared to Lauren, Clarissa was much calmer.
She took her dress and walked to the guest seats with Lauren.
As they walked, she said, "A scum and a b*tch is a perfect match. It's better for them to be together, because they won't have a chance to hurt other single men and women."
Lauren suddenly laughed, "You're right."
The two of them found their seats in the guest seats. Fortunately, they were far away from Lara and Elliot and didn't have to see them. Both of them were very satisfied.
Soon, almost all the people had arrived.
The lights were suddenly lit on the stage. The host went on stage and began to introduce the history and culture of the school, as well as the activities of the 70th anniversary.
As one of the guests for the performance, Lauren would play Chinese zither.
Not long after the party began, a staff member came over to take Lauren to change her clothes.
Clarissa asked her to be careful and watched her leave with the staff.
She glanced at Lara and found that her seat was empty. She must have gone backstage to prepare for the performance.
She lowered her head slightly. After a while, she smiled.
"Next, the graduate of the 65th, Lauren, will play the Chinese zither for us."
When the host finished his words, Lauren walked up to the stage slowly with a Chinese zither in her arms.
A great cheer went up from the crowd.
Lauren had lots of fans.
Lauren was very good at playing Chinese zither. Her father Dexter Jones was the chairman of Jones Group. He doted on Lauren very much and almost agreed to her every request.
But he was strict with two things.
That was her career and emotional life.
Almost every actor who had been rumored to be in a relationship with Lauren had been banned in the entertainment circle.
About Lauren's career, Dexter originally didn't want Lauren to be an actress, but Lauren liked acting. Dexter had no choice but to agree, and he supported Lauren's career very much.
The Jones Group almost invested in all the films and TV series that Lauren had acted in.
Lauren didn't let Dexter down. She was good at acting and playing the Chinese zither. She even learnt traditional Chinese painting when she was free.
As long as she did not lose her temper, she was exactly a standard young lady from a rich family.
Dexter was even more satisfied with Lauren because of this.
The result was that he thought that no one deserved to be Lauren's boyfriend. Anyone who dared chase after Lauren were all banned in the entertainment circle by him.
Lauren was unconcerned about her father's firm attitude.
Anyway... she didn't like those who chased after her.
As for the person she liked...
He wouldn't chase after her!
On the stage, Lauren smiled bitterly. She played a melancholy melody on the Chinese zither.
She thought of Jameson and felt so sad in her heart.
In the corner, a young man with a cold expression was standing against the wall, staring quietly in the direction of the stage.
He wore a black cap. Under the dim light, his face couldn't be seen clearly, but he looked very indifferent and unrestrained.
Someone passed by him and accidentally bumped into him. Then he apologized in a hurry.
"I'm so sorry. Hey, aren't you..."
