Chapter 500 What Do You Mean

Evelyn nodded weakly. She was no longer as serious and energetic as she was.
Lying on the bed, Evelyn felt her whole body heating up.
She knew that she was the type of person who would fall sick easily until she remembered what she had done yesterday.
After taking a cold shower for such a long time, she didn't even dry her hair and went straight to the bed.
It was only logical that she had caught a cold.
But she could not say that what she did last night was wrong.
After all, she was really in bad shape last night.
Thinking of this, Evelyn felt a little dizzy. In a fog, she closed her eyes and was ready to go to sleep.
After god-knows-how-long, Evelyn finally managed to recover her energy and woke up.
When she opened her eyes, she was surprised to find Marty by the bed as well.
Next to him was Marissa, who seemed to be embarrassed.
"Marissa, why is he here?" Evelyn frowned. Her voice was hoarse, with a hint of dissatisfaction in her tone.
"I..." Marissa opened her mouth and didn't say anything for a long time.
Evelyn could only turn her gaze to Marty.
She coldly looked at Marty and said in a hoarse and serious voice, "Marty, what do you want?"
Marty looked at Evelyn with a smile, and his voice was endearing.
"Of course I'm here to see my fiancée."
Hearing Marty's words, Evelyn was shocked.
She ignored the fact that she was still seriously ill and quickly sat up. She coughed while asking Marty, "What do you mean? I am Jeffrey's fiancee, and I will marry him in the future! I will make it clear to you now— it's impossible for the both of us to be together, and I will never marry you."
Hearing Evelyn's words, Marty's facial expression suddenly darkened.
But he did not get angry. Instead, he sat down at the edge of the bed, tucked her in, and cooed, "Evelyn, don't play dumb with me. You love me, don't you?"
Evelyn was upset over the fact that Marty had found out her true feelings at an embarrassing moment like this.
At the same time, she was not only unprepared, but blamed herself for being indecisive over her feelings towards Marty.
All sorts of emotions were welling up in her chest. In the end, embarrassed, Evelyn flew into a rage.
She really didn't want to expose all her weakness and her pathetic side in front of Marty, but he just...
"Get out." Evelyn's voice was so cold with a hint of anger in it.
She stared at Marty with hatred, and her smile was very cruel. "Why do you think I love you just because of what happened yesterday?"
Evelyn was not a fool. She could guess what he was thinking.
She realized her mistake now even more than before when she saw Marty nod his head.
Evelyn shouldn't be so close to him. At least she couldn't help him so overtly. Otherwise, she would make him misunderstand and bring trouble upon herself.
Evelyn rather to embarrass Marty and stay away from her than having him witness her patheticness.
After all, for the latter case, she was able to comfort herself that all of this was because he did not understand her at all.
"Please forgive my selfishness," Evelyn prayed in her heart. It was not like she had no feelings for Marty, but she didn't want to see how pathetic she was.
She could accept the fact that he wanted to leave her, but she didn't want him to discover her filthy self.
Her pride wouldn't allow that to happen.
Thinking of this, Evelyn raised her head with a bigger smile on her face, with a trace of mockery in her eyes. "You think too much."
Marty was stunned for a second, but in the next second, he had left those words behind.
He already had a rough idea of what she was going to say.
After all, she was an egoistic person. Therefore, it was natural for her to feel a little frustrated.
But he didn't expect Evelyn would say this. "In fact, I wanted to hide this matter from you and wait for the right time to ask for connections and resources from you in exchange. But I didn't expect you to come so soon, which made it impossible for me to find the right timing to lay all my cards on the table."
Evelyn's smile was very charming and beautiful, but her words sounded distant and aloof, which made his blood run cold.
He stared at Evelyn in disbelief.
Marty couldn't believe that Evelyn was such a snobbish woman, nor could he believe her words.
They had been childhood friends for ten years. He knew what kind of person she was. There was no reason for her to humiliate herself like this, or reason for her to be hypocritical to him just because she wanted something from him.
However, Evelyn's acting was so good that he wondered if she was telling a lie or it was the truth.
Seeing Marty's doubts, Evelyn thought that her acting was not convincing enough. She didn't expect him to trust her.
Thinking of this, she sat up from the quilt while Marissa watched in shock.
The quilt slipped from her body, revealing her porcelain skin.
But she didn't care about it at all. Instead, she put her hand on Marty's body and smiled obediently. Nevertheless, she looked weirdly ridiculous under such a circumstance.
"Young Master Blaine, do you trust me so much? Then I really appreciate your trust in me. Unfortunately, I am such a person. If you can give me the opportunities I want, actually, marrying you is not a big deal. But, are you willing to give it to me?"
"Evelyn, you..." Marty couldn't believe what she said, but he still felt upset over it.
It was an indescribable feeling. In his eyes, Evelyn was as pure as the driven snow.
In fact, Evelyn was also very upset, but she really didn't want him to get close to her, so she could only pretend to hurt him and herself at the same time.
Evelyn endured the pain and came up to Marty with a smile. She leaned on Marty's shoulder and planted a light kiss on his lips.
It was such a light kiss that it didn't even carry a trace of warmth and emotion.
On the other hand, Marty felt a little disgusted.
In his mind, Evelyn was not such a person. She had never been.
So when she did this, he could not accept it at all.
At this moment, it didn't matter if she was putting on an act or not.
If she wasn't, he was in love with the wrong person.
If she was, Marty found it even more difficult to accept it.
Was he an embarrassment to her? So much so that she had to humiliate herself like this to reject him.
This made Marty feel insulted.
He was also a proud person with an ego.
It was also exactly why couldn't accept that Evelyn would be like this.
Thus, just as Evelyn was about to say something, Marty pushed her away.
He stood up and gazed down at Evelyn in a patronizing manner. His eyes were full of pain, but he sneered. "Since you say so, I don't see the need for me to stay here anymore. I do have a few projects in hand, but I don't want to give them to people like you, Miss Hussain."
