Chapter 982 Meeting The In-Laws
Over the phone, Matteo's voice was soft.
"Clarissa, are you home now?"
Clarissa put down her fork and walked outside. Only then she asked softly, "No, Grandma. What can I do for you?"
Matteo replied with a smile, "I'm fine. I'm just asking. I heard that... you're going to Ashax Country in a few days?"
"Yes, my aunt has taken a fancy to a jade mine. I shared the same sentiment as her. So, I plan to go and have a look at it with Anderson in a few days."
"Oh, I see. You should be careful on the way. You should take care of yourself. If you want to do something, let Anderson do it. Don't stress yourself out."
Clarissa smiled, "Grandma, I understand. Don't worry."
"I'm glad to hear that."
Even after giving Clarissa advice, Matteo did not hang up the phone. Since she didn't do so, Clarissa found it awkward to hang up first.
However, Matteo remained silent. Clarissa did not know what Matteo was doing.
After about half a minute, she could not take it anymore. She asked tentatively, "Grandma, do you have anything else to tell me?"
Across the phone, Matteo sounded a little embarrassed.
"Here's the thing. Clarissa, I heard... that you have found your adoptive mother?"
Clarissa was stunned for a moment, and her face suddenly changed.
She turned around to look at Sierra, who was inside the room. Then, she walked to a quieter place and asked softly, "Grandma, how did you know?"
Matteo replied kindly, "Don't blame your aunt for this. She's a straightforward person, and she doesn't have any malicious intentions. When chatting with me, she accidentally spilled the beans. I asked her about this, and she told me the whole story."
Clarissa felt a headache coming. Immediately, she touched her forehead in response.
Matteo asked again, "Your adoptive mother... Is she still in good health? Have you two acknowledged each other?"
Clarissa forced a smile and replied, "She's doing fine. It's just that she was still suffering from the after-effects of the incident that happened 10 years ago. She lost her memory and can't remember anything now."
On the other side, Matteo let out a cry of surprise.
"Well, it's good in a way that she can't remember what happened. It's not a happy event. She would only suffer if she remembered it."
Clarissa replied softly, "Yes."
The elderly lady heaved out another sigh.
"Clarissa, don't think too much about it. I called today because I care about her. Since she is your adopted mother, she is our in-laws. If she has any difficulties, just tell us. We, the Jordan Family, will always support you."
Clarissa smiled, feeling warmth in her heart.
"Thank you, Grandma. I understand."
"Well, if you are free on other days, perhaps ask your adoptive mother to come over?"
Clarissa hesitated.
"I'm afraid that won't be possible in the near future."
"Why not?"
Clarissa sighed.
"She has suffered from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, and she doesn't like to interact with strangers. I will bring her to meet you when she gets better."
Matteo understood, "Well then, it's all right. Anyway, there's no hurry. We should focus on her health first. Take good care of her."
Clarissa nodded.
The two women said a few more words and hung up the phone.
After hanging up the phone, Clarissa let out a sigh of relief, turned around, and walked back into the room.
In the private room, the atmosphere was harmonious.
Seeing Clarissa's return, Anderson lowered his voice and asked, "What's wrong?"
Clarissa shook her head. "It's all right. It's a call from Grandma."
Anderson's eyes darkened. He had a rough idea of what was going on, but he did not ask further.
After they had finished their meal, Clarissa and Anderson escorted Sierra and her husband back to the manor. Then, they drove home.
When it was just the both of them, Anderson finally asked about Matteo's call.
Clarissa did not hide anything from him and told him the truth.
Anderson held her hand and comforted her, "Don't worry. I'll go and tell Grandma about it. I believe that she won't mind once she knows about your mother's situation."
Clarissa nodded.
In the next few days, Clarissa took Sierra and Robert to tour Flaucford.
During this period of time, they have gotten closer to each other. Although Sierra still could not remember what had happened in the past, it was obvious that she no longer hated Clarissa. She was even closer to Clarissa.
Clarissa looked at Sierra's high spirits and smiled contentedly.
Soon, five days had passed.
After Mr. Jenkins had already arranged everything, he sent someone to tell Clarissa that it was time to set off.
Clarissa entrusted Anne and Marf to Carlos and Matteo Jordan. Then, she packed up her things and went to Ashax Country with Sierra and Robert.
There was not a need to take a doctor to accompany them with Robert around.
After all, there were only a few doctors whose medical skills could match Robert's in the world.
This time, Chantel was cooperative throughout the journey since she received a lot of benefits from Clarissa. She did not cause any trouble.
As for her young hunk, Micah Cook, he called her several times throughout the journey, seemingly wanted Chantel to take him with her, but Chantel refused.
Although Chantel liked to play and was acting bizarrely most of the time, she still knew her priorities when it came to business.
Moreover, with Anderson tagging along this time, she did not dare to do anything she had done in the past.
Anderson could not be bothered to talk to her. Along the way, he did not talk to her much.
It infuriated Chantel that she vented out to Clarissa in private several times about Anderson being ungrateful. If it were not for her when he was a child, Anderson would have been bullied by others many times outside.
Clarissa let out a forceful smile and did not say anything. She just comforted Chantel with a few words.
At the same time, she also reminded Anderson privately not to embarrass Chantel in front of outsiders.
Everyone in the family viewed her negatively because she was not reliable.
But, now there were outsiders with them. Furthermore, Chantel was the middle person for this business.
If Anderson treated Chantel harshly, it would make it seem like she had no status in the Jordan Family in front of outsiders.
If this got out, it would be hard for Chantel to show herself in public in the future.
Anderson listened to Clarissa. After that, his attitude towards Chantel improved.
Chantel also knew that Clarissa was the one behind it. She was happy and jealous at the same time, as the child she brought up since young would only listen to advise from an outsider rather than from her.
This must be what they meant when they say a child forgot his mother when he had a wife.
However, she had always been optimistic. After complaining about this matter for a short while, she threw this matter to the back of her mind.
It was three o'clock in the afternoon when they arrived at Ashax Country.
Mr. Jenkins had already contacted someone and was waiting at the airport to pick them up.
For many years, Mr. Jenkins had been engaged in the jade business, and there were a lot of jade mines in Ashax Country. Hence, he was familiar with this area.
Since he had already arranged a place to stay and sent people to pick them up, Anderson did not make any further arrangements. He brought Clarissa and the others and followed them to the hotel.
