Chapter 981 Going On A Vacation Together
Standing at the side, Anne heard Clarissa speaking on the phone. So, she ran over and asked, "Mommy, are you going on a business trip?"
Looking down at her, Clarissa said with a smile, "Yes."
Then, she stretched her hand and stroked Anne's hair. Gently, she said, "Five days from now, Mommy and Daddy may be going abroad for a few days. When we are away, take care of your little brother. You can discipline him if he is naughty. If someone else bullies him, then you've to protect him. Is that all right?"
Anne nodded her head furiously.
"Don't worry, Mommy. I'll take care of him."
Clarissa planted a kiss on her forehead and said with a grateful smile, "All right. Let's go for dinner."
The family had a happy dinner together. In the evening, Clarissa returned to her room, checking out all the interesting places near Flaucford. Then, she called Millie in the office and told her to manage the company while she was away.
When Anderson came out from the shower, Clarissa was at the desk searching the Internet. He hugged her from behind and asked,
"What are you looking at?"
Turning around to face him, Clarissa smiled and replied, "I am looking at the nearby attractions."
Anderson kept quiet for a while.
Then, he gathered her waist from the back and rested his chin on her shoulder.
"I won't accompany you these few days. Take care of your self. Be careful what you eat."
Clarissa nodded, "I understand."
She paused for a moment. Then, she turned back and ran her fingers through his wet hair. She reminded him,
"Settle the company's affairs in these few days. We'll go to Ashax Country in five days. You must be there."
Of course, Anderson knew he had to be there. He smiled as he thought about it.
If Clarissa and Chantel were to go to Ashax country on their own, Chantel might create problems for Clarissa.
Since Clarissa was pregnant, traveling to places like Flaucford was fine. However, traveling to a faraway country was a different story.
So, they had already planned that they would go to Ashrax country together.
Anderson moved closer and kissed her lightly on the cheek. Then, he got up and dried his hair.
When Clarissa had found what she wanted, she texted the list of places to Sierra to decide where to go the next day. After exchanging a few text messages, she showered and went to bed.
The next day.
Clarissa came to Mr. Jenkins's manor early in the morning.
Nora was driving. She was happy for Clarissa as Clarissa was meeting Sierra and Sierra's partner.
They did not have to wait long before Sierra and Robert came out.
They were dressed in grey casual clothes today. As for Sierra, she had a hat on as well. Both of them maintained their looks well. From a distance, they looked like a pair of young lovers rather than a middle-aged couple.
Inside the car, Clarissa looked at the pair of them approaching from the distance and smiled.
She could not help thinking how wonderful this was.
Her mother was able to escape the shadow of her past and found true love again. Was that not the best thing that could happen?
It was good enough that she was happy and not overly nervous or sensitive.
Then, Clarissa opened the door and stepped out. She waved to them.
Sierra and Robert walked over quickly. As they approached, Clarissa noticed that Robert was holding something in his hands.
Robert was holding a white box which he handed over to Clarissa. Clarissa was unsure what it was.
"This is for you."
Surprised, Clarissa asked Sierra with a smile, "What is this?"
Seeing her discomfort, Sierra smiled and answered, "Didn't you say that you are pregnant? Mr. Lane found this highly nutritious supplement in the desert. It's very good for pregnant women. Bring it home and make soup. Remember not to take so much a day lest the effects are too strong for you."
Only then did Clarissa realize that she misread the situation, so she felt a sense of warmth instead.
Smiling happily, she passed the box to Nora and expressed her gratitude, "Thank you, Mr. Lane."
Robert looked uncomfortable that she addressed him as Mr. Lane.
Without looking at Clarissa, Robert nodded and quickly got into the car.
When everyone was in the car, Nora drove to the first destination Clarissa had chosen.
All the places that Clarissa chose were in the outskirts as Sierra had suggested. In the bustling and crowded Flaucford, the only places with fresh air and nice scenery were the outskirts.
The car stopped some distance away as vehicles were not allowed.
Clarissa, Sierra, and Robert went ahead first. After parking the car, Nora chased after them.
For Nora, she had no problem catching up with them since she was familiar with the place and was fit as a fiddle.
After Clarissa got married and moved to Flaucford, she became more familiar with Flaucford after a few years.
Besides, Clarissa had done her homework the night before. All the history and information about these places were at her fingertips.
Nora and Robert were impressed and nodded repeatedly.
It was not long before Nora caught up.
Nora had two bottles of water in her hand and gave them to Sierra and Robert. Then, she gave a thermos cup to Clarissa.
Taken by surprise, Clarissa quizzed her, "What is this?"
Nora smiled and answered, "Anderson gave this to me this morning. He said it's some tonic to quench your thirst along the way."
As Clarissa turned red with embarrassment, she shot a glance at Sierra and Robert out of the corner of her eyes. Irritated, she said, "Quench my thirst with this gooey stuff? No, give me a bottle of mineral water."
Smiling at her frustration, Nora gave a bottle of water instead.
When Sierra noticed the exchange, she smiled and interjected, "Clarissa, you are expecting. It's not good to drink cold drinks. Drink the tonic Anderson gave. Your health is important."
Clarissa turned redder, angry that Anderson mollycoddled her. Then, she said to Sierra, "It's all right. I'm not thirsty."
The group of them continued on their way.
Since Clarissa was pregnant, they were in no hurry to visit all the sites in this area. To accommodate her, they stopped and rested frequently.
Robert was a highly proficient doctor, and Anderson had no qualms entrusting Clarissa on a trip with them.
Otherwise, Anderson would not allow Clarissa to go on such a strenuous hike up the mountain.
They enjoyed themselves along the way and only decided to leave when it was getting dark.
Everyone was tired after a full day's activity outside.
After work, Anderson joined Clarissa and the family for a roast dinner at a restaurant.
Unexpectedly, in the middle of dinner, Clarissa had a call from Grandma Matteo.
