Chapter 511 It Won't Get Her Far

Wes shouted impatiently and then looked at Evelyn coldly.
"Stop pretending to be kind here. Nice idea you've got there, but your action couldn't live up to that."
Evelyn raised her eyebrows.
This time, she finally understood Wes's attitude towards her.
Without having to look back, she could hear the others talking about her. They had reason to believe what they had seen with their own eyes, but it had never occurred to them why the heck Evelyn would do that to Rita.
The most important thing was that even Wes had already come to the conclusion that she was a scheming person. He had spoken up for Rita on the surface, but in fact, he was just taking advantage of the situation to seek revenge on her.
Evelyn sneered, looked down at the sword on the ground, and calmly picked it up and held it in her hand.
"It was indeed my mistake just now. But we haven't finished shooting this scene yet. Let's continue now."
Stunned, Wes starred in surprise at the gorgeous actress in front of him.
"Go on?"
"Yeah, don't you not want to delay the progress? Then let's continue. I think Rita's injury is just a minor one. It won't affect the shooting, right?"
Rita did not expect her to be so calm.
She was so calm that he felt as if this had never happened before.
It wasn't just her. Everyone else who saw this couldn't help but look at each other puzzled. They didn't know what exactly Evelyn was up to.
Finally, Wes frowned and said discontentedly, "It's already noon. Everyone, let's go eat first. We'll continue filming this scene in the afternoon."
The director's voice was all of the sudden, pleasing to the ears, as everyone immediately let out a sigh of relief.
Rita sat peacefully on the lounge chair, glancing at Evelyn from time to time. No one could see the irony in her eyes except the assistant who was close at hand.
To avoid awkwardness in the afternoon's filming, Evelyn thought about it again before she walked to Rita.
The staff and cameramen nearby all perked up their ears, as if they would miss a show if they were not paying enough attention.
"Why are you still here? Didn't Wes already speak out?"
Looking at the calm look on Evelyn's face, Rita was a little flustered. She had forgotten the joy when she framed Evelyn. She didn't even dare to look Evelyn in the eyes.
"I'm here to apologize to you. It was my fault just now. We should have cooperated with each other during our shooting together. I'm sorry."
Evelyn's voice sounded sincere, but it made Rita feel as if she was on pins and needles.
"All right. I know."
Her right cheek twitched unnaturally while she forced a smile.
Evelyn took a deep look at her, then smiled and left without saying anything.
As for Rita, after being treated with an attitude like that, for some reason, she began to feel a little discouraged.
After the crew had brought out the meals, the assistant brought lunch to Evelyn very soon.
But when she came over, she seemed to be quite unhappy.
Evelyn knew the reason. Her assistant, Carrie, was a straightforward person and she didn't like when people gossiped about Evelyn.
Now that she heard the crew's gossip, she was about to explode with rage.
Carrie carefully observed Evelyn's expression, and then said aggrievedly, "Evelyn, Rita is clearly trying to make things difficult for you. How can you still stand it? It's no wonder she has been playing the supporting role all her life."
Evelyn glanced at her and said softly, "Don't say that. It was my mistake."
There were too many people in the crew, so Evelyn had to hide her true feelings. In fact, she knew very well that there were some things that she couldn't tell her assistant who wore her heart on her sleeve. She just needed to be wary of Rita.
When Carrie saw this, she couldn't say anything more. She could only curl her lips and walk to the other side to eat.
After calming herself down, soon, another intense filming had started. In the process, Evelyn was interrupted several times by Rita, because Rita had forgotten her lines and thus, Wes had to call "cut!" several times.
Wes's expression grew darker as time went by. By seven or eight o'clock in the evening, even Rita herself was embarrassed.
Rita offered to have a rest so that she could adjust her mindset. Of course, she did this on the excuse that her arm hurt a little.
Evelyn sat on the artificial rockery and waited in silence. Two makeup artists whispered behind her.
"They've been saying that Evelyn and Rita are on bad terms. It seems that it's true. Evelyn loves to put on airs. Not only is she unprofessional, but she was also late for the banquet."
"I knew she must have a strong background. Think about how beautiful she is..."
Before she could finish her sentence, Evelyn suddenly got up and quickly walked out of the studio.
As soon as she went out, she saw Carrie pulling a long face from a distance. She came to Evelyn and complained, "Evelyn, just now I went to take what we needed, but they refused to give it to me."
"Even Rita's assistant could get it but they still don't want to give it to me. Evelyn, I really want to..."
Seeing that the assistant was on her side, Evelyn didn't say anything. She just ran her fingers through Carrie's hair and whispered to her, "We might be stuck in this situation for a few days. Bear it for a while and it will be over."
"But ..."
It had never occurred to Carrie that she was going to quarrel with the staff. But she couldn't help but feel upset when a kind person like Evelyn had received unfair treatment like this.
Evelyn gave Carrie a look, gesturing at her to calm down. She believed that time would tell that she was actually a good person. As for Rita's little trick, it won't get her far.
In the evening, Wes announced that everyone could get off work early today. All the crew members who had worked hard for the entire day all smiled.
Rita deliberately distanced herself from others and pretended to be close to Evelyn and went to her.
Carrie immediately came over to separate her and Evelyn, and fiercely said to her, "What are you doing here? Do you want to stir up trouble again?"
"How can it be? What makes you think so? I just want to tell Evelyn that she must do her best tomorrow."
Rita patted the sleeve touched by Carrie in disgust before she arrogantly walked away in her high heels.
Carrie's face was flushed with anger. She had never seen such a shameless person.
"Well, we just need do our part."
Evelyn pulled Carrie to her side like a big sister. Everyone who passed by them saw what had happened just now, and they didn't even dare to breathe loudly when facing Evelyn.
Although she was reluctant to admit it, it was indeed a blow to Evelyn. A professional smile reappeared on her face. She said to herself, "It's okay. It will be over soon."
The next morning, Evelyn was a little shaken up. It was her time of the month.
There was a sharp pain in her abdomen. After a while, Carrie was shocked to see Evelyn's forehead was full of sweat.
