Chapter 688 Drinking At The Bar

Even though the old wounds had healed, the scars remained. Would your heart agree even if you were willing to forgive Sue?
Did you really believe that things would be the same after the event?
Charlotte sighed and put it out of her mind. She went to Buckley's ward after packing her belongings.
At this time, on the other side.
Marty's friends invited him to the bar at night.
Since he got together with Evelyn, he rarely went out with his friends. He would usually stay at home or go to the crew to see Evelyn whenever he was free.
Even though their relationship was kept a secret, they were very content. It was the first time he agreed to go out with friends since then.
His friends were unaware of his marriage. Thus, they didn't ask much about it when he didn't show up at the gatherings. They just assumed that his family was keeping a close eye on him.
Marty called Evelyn, who was filming in the crew, to let her know where he was going before going to the bar.
Evelyn naturally had no objection.
She didn't like controlling others and didn't consider it a big deal. Marty used to be a playboy, but she knew he wasn't that type of person.
Furthermore, what was meant to happen would always find its way.
Therefore, she agreed with him heartily.
It was nine in the evening when Marty arrived at the bar.
He only came over after working overtime and eating dinner.
It was already late for other places at this point, but it was still early for a place like a bar.
There were a few tables of people in the lounge. Upon his arrival, a waiter led him to the VIP room. Then, a burst of loud music greeted him as soon as he opened the door.
"Oh, Marty, you're finally here."
One of his friends greeted him right away. Afterward, everyone put their arms around each other's shoulders, and they danced to the music beat.
At the same time, in the next room.
Clint was drinking with a group of people as well.
These people were not locals. Some of them had blonde hair and brown eyes, while others had beards. They all appeared to be bold and unconstrained.
Most of their arms were tattooed, and a few of them had blade scars on their faces.
When they talked and drank, they did so in a rough and imposing manner. Besides, there were a few smokers in the room.
Because there was so much smoke in the room, even the air had turned stale.
Clint looked very different from these people. Hence, his appearance here would inevitably be a little abrupt.
However, based on how these people treated him, it appeared as if they had known each other for a long time, and there were no communication issues between them.
"Clint!" A bearded man slapped him on the shoulder and inquired, "You previously mentioned that you came back for a task. How are things going? Is it finished?"
Then, Clint looked up at him. Clint appeared much more vulnerable in comparison to the two of them.
However, for some reason, just this glance seemed to elevate him to a higher social standing.
As a result, the bearded man's imposing demeanor began to wane.
He was smoking, but he was not in a hurry to respond. After finishing a cigarette, he tossed it into the ashtray and said, "It's done."
The bearded man's heart skipped a beat when he first noticed Clint didn't look very well.
After hearing Clint's reply, he let out a sigh of relief and smiled again.
"Isn't that great? You should be happy. Why are you so upset right now?"
The man with the beard was a foreigner. He didn't speak English well, so some words sounded muddled.
Clint mulled over his words.
After a while, he sneered.
Yes. It was indeed great.
He was afraid that no man in the world was as stupid as him, sacrificing so much for someone for so long.
At the thought of Sue's sobbing face, Clint only felt upset.
He then took a sip from the wine glass on the table.
The bearded man didn't understand what Clint was thinking.
But anyone could tell that he was in a bad mood.
The others, on the other hand, couldn't help but look over when they saw this.
Two men with blonde hair exchanged glances and whispered something. They then approached, holding wine glasses in their hands.
"Hey, why are you drinking by yourself? Would you like us to invite a beauty for you to accompany you?"
They were all speaking English, but their accents revealed that their English wasn't very fluent.
Clint glanced at them and shook his head.
"No, thanks."
"Clint, don't be like this! There's plenty of fish in the sea. Don't be tripping over a guppy!"
As the man continued to persuade Clint, he laughed and placed his hand on Clint's shoulder. "You should have fun when you go out to play. There are so many lovely ladies here. Why are you so unhappy because of one woman? Do you agree with me?"
When the man approached, he smelled strongly of cheap women's perfume.
Displeased, Clint frowned and subconsciously gave way to him.
He then responded coldly, "It's fine. You guys can continue to drink. I'll go out to get some fresh air."
After that, he got up and walked out.
The blonde man threw a cold face at Clint. He was stunned for a split second before his face darkened.
As Clint left, the man wanted to stand but was pressed down by someone next to him.
The man silently shook his head at him. Finally, the blonde man could only suppress his anger and allow Clint to leave.
Clint didn't go far. He just stood in the corridor outside the room.
In fact, the air here wasn't any better than inside.
People were lecherous in a place like this, and the air was filthy.
He gripped the handrail with both hands and gazed down at the hot girls dancing on the stage below, but there was no lust in his eyes.
There was only endless indifference and hatred.
Why?
Why was that so?
He had made so many sacrifices and stayed by Sue's side for so long. However, he couldn't understand why wasn't he wasn't significant to her in the end.
He used to believe that even if she didn't like him, he was still important to her.
He didn't care if Sue still had feelings for Buckley. Perhaps no one could replace that position. He could only blame himself for arriving late in her life.
But he couldn't disregard it any longer. Besides Buckley, someone actually meant more in her heart.
So, what was he to her?
Thinking of this, Clint couldn't help but laugh at himself.
At this moment, a hot girl dressed in revealing clothes stumbled towards him.
She was wobbling as she walked, as though she had drunk too much.
As soon as she saw him, her delicate face brightened up.
