Chapter 819 A Visit to Provoke

Then, Maggie was sent away.
Actually, Uncle Poick's punishment was considered merciful.
However, deep down, Emmeline felt uneasy.
For some reason, she felt that Maggie wouldn't commit theft.
Even so, all the evidence put Maggie at a disadvantage, and she couldn't explain herself. Thus, Emmeline couldn't do anything.
Finally, a farce was over.

Feeling tired, Emmeline asked Yunne to send her back to her room.
When they passed the corridor, they saw Lilly and the other servants coming out of the servant room with Maggie while heading to the main door.
There was a simple suitcase in Maggie's hand and a backpack on her back, which was probably all her belongings here.
At that moment, she was still crying. As she cried, she wiped away her tears with the back of her hand.
At the same time, she kept nodding as if she was responding to the advice given by Lilly and others.
Seeing that, Emmeline sighed inwardly.
Then, she turned around and went back to her room.
After an uproar, she naturally lost her desire to take her afternoon nap.
Hence, for two hours, she practiced darts in the room before came out for dinner.
Since it was summer, the sky got dark later in the evening. The castle was built by the lake, and the terrain was high, so the air was cooling.
When the sun was setting, the night wind blew over the lake and gave off a kind of refreshing coolness.
As Emmeline was in a good mood today, she had her dinner outside the room. Nevertheless, she didn't want to eat with Kayla in Tower B's dining room, so she called Yunne to bring her dinner to the second floor's balcony.
The balcony was facing the lake. It was seven o'clock in the evening, and the sky was about to get dark. Even so, the lights were already on.
At that moment, the moon was peeking out from the clouds. A shallow crescent moon was reflected on the lake's surface, sparkling like a diamond.
Emmeline was lazy to change seat, so she sat in her wheelchair, gazing at the night scenery. Feeling wonderful, she started to have her dinner.
As Yunne had eaten earlier, she didn't eat with Emmeline. Instead, she was standing by the side.
Actually, Emmeline never liked putting on airs, and she hated Jara's way of living like a wealthy man of the olden days, where people got segregated based on rank.
Therefore, she asked Yunne to sit down with her. Even if Yunne had eaten, she could have some drinks and chat.
However, Yunne insisted on not seating, and she said she could speak while standing.
With that, Emmeline didn't force her.
The night breeze was blowing, the aroma of dishes filled the air, and the atmosphere was beautiful and quiet.
From time to time, Emmeline chatted with Yunne while having her dinner. Sometimes they would talk about the recent events in the castle, and sometimes she would hear Yunne talk about her family.
Through the conversation, Emmeline found out that Yunne was an orphan.
In fact, Yunne grew up in an orphanage. As for her biological parents, she could not remember what they looked like.
All she could remember was during her childhood, her family was poor, and they didn't have enough food to survive.
One day, she was sick. Her whole body was burning hot, and she was in a daze.
In her hazy consciousness, her mother had cried beside her bed for the whole night. Then, the next morning, her mother carried her to the town and placed her in front of an orphanage.
At that time, she was around four years old. There should be many things that she couldn't remember.
Even so, her mother's retreating figure was deeply engraved in her mind, and she wouldn't forget it for the rest of her life.
Later, she grew up safely in the orphanage. As her grades were not good enough, she didn't further her studies and come out to work.
It was not a special life, but when Emmeline heard that, she gradually thought of herself.
Perhaps, life wasn't a bed of roses.
After the death of Mrs. Illington, Keira was her only family, but now, Keira was dead as well.
Thinking of this, she felt a twinge of pain in her heart.
On the other hand, Yunne forced a smile and uttered, "Actually, it's good to get over it. Without relatives, there is no concern. Besides, I can be more unrestrained and decisive when I was doing things. I don't have to worry that I will drag my family into a hot mess."
To that, Emmeline nodded. "You're right."
Her voice was ethereal, and it sounded like a sigh.
For a moment, both of them were silent.
Suddenly, there was a burst of squeamish laughter coming from downstairs.
"What are you talking about? Jara is not that kind of person. He is just sending me these things to compensate me. Stop exaggerating!"
"Well, don't you know what Mr. Holland is like? If he doesn't put you in his heart, he won't even send you these."
"She's right. The moment he knew that your vodkas were stolen, he bought you a few more bottles. Besides, there are many other different types of alcoholic beverages here. After Millay and I took a look at them just now, we found that they were all top-quality stuff."
When Kayla heard that, her voice became sweeter.
"Both of you are such a sweet talker. Show them to me. I want to know what excites the both of you."
Instantly, Millay and the other servant chuckled, "Okay, we'll take you there."
With that, they headed to the kitchen.
Noticing this, Yunne showed a trace of contempt on her face and snorted, "Shameless vixen."
On the other hand, Emmeline didn't speak, and her face was expressionless.
After glancing at Emmeline, Yunne said cautiously, "Miss Illington, don't think too much. Mr. Holland did send some gifts to you too. It's just that we choose not to show off as they did."
As she spoke, she scoffed.
"I don't get why Kayla is so boastful about it. After all, it's just some high-end alcohols that most wealthy families have. With the knowledge she has, she doesn't deserve to be Mrs. Holland."
Upon hearing her words, Emmeline responded lightly, "Whether she deserves it or not, it's none of our business."
As she spoke, she took another sip of tea.
When Yunne saw this, she had no idea if Emmeline didn't care or just pretending that she didn't.
Even so, she responded softly, "You're right."
After drinking tea, Emmeline asked Yunne to clean everything up.
Originally, she wanted to sit for a while before going back to her room to rest. However, unexpectedly, as soon as Yunne left, Kayla came over with a simper on her face.
"Hey! I've been looking for you, and it turns out that you're here."
It was late at night, and yet Kayla was wearing a delicate aqua dress. Moreover, it seemed like she had put a lot of care into her hair and makeup. Obviously, she had deliberately dressed herself up.
