Chapter 690 Their Negotiation
Buckley said with a smile, "Mr. Vale, I apologize for inviting you in such a rude manner. But I'm afraid if I politely invite you, you won't come. Also, you're not going to admit what you've done to me. So, I have no choice but to do this. Please forgive me if I have offended you in any way."
Clint's expression shifted again, but he already knew what Buckley had to say.
But he refused to admit it.
Then, he responded with a sneer, "You've got to be kidding me, Mr. Blaine. What did I do to you? You're just taking advantage of the fact that I've just returned from abroad to humiliate me like this. Buckley, despite your family's clout in the country, I am not an easy person to deal with. So you should let me go right now..."
"Don't worry, Mr. Vale."
This time Roland was the one who spoke.
Following that, he took out a photo and handed it to Clint.
"Take a look here first. Do you know the man in the photo? We will talk about other things later. What do you think?"
In the photo, there was a middle-aged man who looked distressed. He appeared to be a normal middle-aged man with tanned skin.
Clint only took one glance at it and then looked away.
Without any expression, he replied, "I don't know him."
Roland arched his brows.
"You don't know him? Really?"
Clint did not speak.
Roland flashed a smile and said, "That's strange. Since you don't know him, why did someone testify that you went to his house half a month ago and gave him a large bag of cash?"
Clint's body instantly went stiff.
It was a light move, but it had been keenly observed by Roland and Buckley.
They looked at Clint with bright eyes. Buckley then added, "If you're not convinced, we can bring the witness in for a confrontation. But I'm afraid things won't be as easy to deal with then as they are now."
"After all, he has helped us. We will not allow any trouble to appear behind him because we have allowed you to see him. So, to be safe..."
"What do you want?"
Clint suddenly interrupted him.
His face, which used to be gentle and cultivated, was now filled with a rare ferocity.
"Do you intend to kill me? Do you have the guts to do so?"
Buckley paused for a second, and then he let out a soft chuckle.
"Mr. Vale, you're so humorous. Killing you? We are businessmen and never do such heinous things."
Clint was choked by Buckley's words and almost laughed out of anger.
"A businessman? Will a businessman drug someone and bring them to such a place? Who are you trying to fool?"
Buckley gave a slight nod. "Well, at least you're aware that we're attempting to fool you."
Clint was rendered speechless.
The conversation could no longer be continued.
The mood in the living room was a little off. Buckley was not in a hurry, so he just sat there quietly waiting.
Roland even got a cup of tea for Buckley from nowhere. However, after only two sips, Buckley put it away because he thought it tasted bad.
"We can wait if you haven't decided whether or not to admit it, Mr. Vale. But, you know, I'm still injured, and I can't wait that long. After all, this is my wife's home. Her hobby is to look around her properties, and she may drop by at any time."
"I don't want her to be worried, and I don't want Miss Abel to find out. So, Mr. Vale, let's settle this before she comes."
He paused once more, but this time his tone became much sharper.
"You'd better consider it carefully."
Clint's expression changed when he heard Sue's name.
Looking at Buckley, Clint questioned, "What difference does it make if I admit it? You wouldn't dare to kill me anyway. Are you going to hand me over to the police?"
Hearing that, Buckley raised his eyebrows and said with a smile, "You've got to be kidding me. I've already mentioned that I'm a businessman."
Clint scowled. He didn't really grasp Buckley's words.
Roland took the initiative to explain, fearing that Buckley would be exhausted to talk much, "Mr. Vale, you have a few good estates in the country. My Dad and I think they're good, so if you're willing to give them up, then we will no longer pursue this matter."
Clint was stunned for a moment.
He looked at them blankly and motionlessly, as if he couldn't believe what he'd heard.
Buckley was a little embarrassed and coughed slightly.
After all, it was his first time engaging in such extortion. He was almost too ashamed to do so.
On the other hand, Roland's face remained unchanged, and he didn't even pant.
In any case, Buckley stated that this matter should not be blown up. All parties would be at a loss if they deeply offended those criminal organizations.
He was old now and didn't want to pretend to be strong as he used to be when he was young.
In fact, he was well aware that there was no justice in this world.
Everything was done in accordance with one's heart to reap the benefits anyway.
That was why Buckley had devised such a tricky solution.
Although he said it was just a few estates, in fact, Clint knew what he meant. Buckley desired Clint's complete power and wealth in the country.
Taking these things away would be the same as ejecting Clint from the country, and he would never be able to return.
Clint understood Buckley's words, so he clenched his teeth and remained silent for a long time.
Later, Roland grinned, saying, "Mr. Vale, you have half an hour to consider it. If you still haven't agreed after half an hour, then I'm sorry. We can only settle the matter with law."
Then, he lowered his head and told Buckley, "I'll take you in for a rest."
Buckley's body had not fully recovered. After talking so much, he was indeed exhausted.
Therefore, he didn't refuse. He simply nodded and let Roland push him into the room.
For half an hour, Clint had been sitting on the floor of the living room. He did not speak, and no one paid attention to him.
He also lowered his head slightly. So, his expression could not be seen clearly from the portable CCTV in the living room.
On the other hand, Buckley and Roland did not want to see him either. Whatever his expression was, he had to agree to their terms, even if he didn't want to.
After all, Buckley was the head of the Blaine family. His injuries were not for nothing.
As for the two persons... There was no need to bring up the truck driver. After all, it was his fault. However, they felt really sorry for Buckley's driver.
