Chapter 893 She Was A Traitor
After that, Jara turned around and strode away.
However, Grayclouds came prepared, so how could he really be tracked by Jara?
He vanished halfway through the journey.
In the vast sky, Jara couldn't possibly trace him.
Angered, Jara smashed a vase.
However, he was now certain that Emmeline was indeed in the hands of the Icarus Association.
His gaze quickly became harsh and malicious.
"Humph, I'll get you sooner or later. Do you really think you can run away?" he thought to himself.
As a result, he immediately summoned his men and headed aggressively to the headquarters of the Icarus Association in F Country.
On the other side.
When Emmeline woke up again, she found herself in a car.
The vehicle was not a minicar but rather a large truck.
She was lying in the carriage behind the truck at the time. Inside it, there were two soft cushions. However, it was pitch black since the door was shut. Only a glimmer of light could be seen through the gap in the door, and it was daytime outside.
Suddenly shocked, she promptly sat up.
Then, she discovered that her hands and legs were both tied.
It was still the tricky way of tying the knot. The more she struggled, the more constricted it became.
Emmeline's heart sunk, but she stopped moving. She leaned against the carriage wall, a sullen expression on her face, recalling the event before she fainted.
Someone broke in from outside at the time, and she just happened to find a way out.
But she didn't expect that Grayclouds had caught Yunne and threatened her with Yunne.
She knew the people outside the door couldn't get in so soon, but she couldn't handle the thought of him hurting Yunne, so she made a temporary compromise and promised to trade her for Yunne.
Of course, Emmeline would never fall into the hands of the enemy when she knew she would be able to flee soon.
As a result, though she appeared to agree on the surface, she had secretly worked out a plan. She merely had to take advantage of the opportunity to save Yunne while she was close to Grayclouds.
In fact, her plan succeeded because he wasn't on guard. Furthermore, he could have been distracted because the scene outside was a little chaotic.
Unexpectedly, he was hit by her. Emmeline took Yunne and ran out. Later, just as they were about to run to the gate, she was knocked unconscious.
Yunne was the one who attacked her while she was protecting her wholeheartedly and did not hesitate to save Yunne even if it meant risking her own life.
Emmeline's eyes narrowed as she considered this.
She had never foreseen Yunne to do so.
It wasn't until this point that she realized something was amiss.
She reflected on Yunne's deeds by her side, as well as the fact that Yunne was brought here safely. Moreover, she was caught because she accompanied Yunne to the restroom.
So... had Yunne always been a member of the Icarus Association?
Was Yunne just lurking around her, waiting for their orders to attack her at any moment?
Was she also involved in the previous assassination and poisoning events in the castle?
Thinking of this, Emmeline was perplexed.
She could feel cold sweat trickling down her back.
At this moment, the car stopped.
A thin figure climbed up as the door opened.
Emmeline gave her a harsh stare.
Yunne, or more precisely, Josie, was unsurprised when she noticed Emmeline's look. She approached Emmeline and set the food beside her. Yunne then undid the bandage that was tied to Emmeline's mouth.
"Make no noise if you wish to live. Don't put them down just because you're good at fighting. This car is full of our men on empty highways. Jara's people have not yet caught up with us. So, if we really kill you, no one will be able to save you."
She stated it with a poker face as if she knew exactly what Emmeline was thinking.
In fact, Emmeline was eager to seize the opportunity.
After all, she was not the type to be bullied.
Being duped like a fool and being trapped now was an utter humiliation for her.
She would never let herself be taken away like this again.
Hence, she was anxious to grasp the opportunity to strike and flee while they were unguarded.
Because she thought that she still had strength while being tied now. Besides, they should not have drugged her. She might have a chance to win with her skills, as long as they don't use guns.
But Yunne's words completely dispelled her notions.
It wasn't because she was afraid, but because they would be on high alert because they had already guessed what she was thinking.
If she were to flee, she would undoubtedly do it when they were not on guard.
So it wasn't that she didn't want to flee as it was that she couldn't do so right now.
As she thought about it, her heart sunk.
"Did you lie to me?" she questioned harshly of Josie.
Josie looked at her without saying a word.
Emmeline inquired word for word, "You're their man, and you've been following me around lately. In fact, you're their finger man, keeping an eye on my every move?"
Josie pursed her lips. She knew that explaining any further would be pointless at this point, so she agreed.
"You're only half right."
She paused, unscrewed the bottle of water in her hand, supported Emmeline's neck, and fed her.
Emmeline didn't refuse.
In fact, she was thirsty. However, she was not stupid to not eat or drink just because Josie lied to her.
Because she knew that only people who cared about you would be upset that you didn't eat or drink, while the enemy would not.
She would be the one to suffer when the time came.
That's why she didn't say no.
Moreover, she was unconcerned that Josie would drug her because she was in a far more perilous position.
In any case, there was no reason for her to make such a needless move.
Josie tore a small piece of bread from her hand and fed Emmeline after she had sipped water.
Josie then added, "I didn't want to hide at your side but instead, Jara's. But you came over by chance, and Jara assigned me to you. There's nothing I can do about it, right?"
Emmeline's eyes turned cold after hearing that. "So, you admit you're a member of the Icarus Association?" she scoffed.
With that, Josie gave her a sidelong glance and murmured, "If you think so, so be it."
Emmeline was stunned.
She had no idea what Josie meant when she said these words.
What did she mean by that?
She thought that she couldn't possibly escape at this moment, so she opted not to. Therefore, she should beat around the bush as much as she could now.
So, she said in hushed tones, "So you arranged this event. You deliberately provoked my guilt, let me take you shopping, and pretended to be drunk so that I could take you to the restroom."
