Chapter 736 They Got Rescued
Seeing this, Clarissa didn't mind. She brought Nora with her and ate with them.
As she could adapt to the country's lifestyle quickly, the other man felt relieved.
At the table, he asked her a few questions. When she answered all of them, he was delighted.
Just then, Clarissa glanced at Jara with a meaningful gaze.
When Jara saw her gaze, he obviously understood, but he didn't answer her immediately. Instead, he pretended that he didn't see anything and looked somewhere else.
Angered, Clarissa glared at him, but she couldn't do anything to him.
After having her lunch, she found an opportunity to find Jara alone.
Meanwhile, Jara was smoking in front of the window.
At that moment, he was dressed in an old tunic shirt. Even though it was a sloppy outfit, he looked like an indifferent prince of the Middle Ages.
For a while, Clarissa stared at him before she shook her head.
"Wait! A prince? Are you crazy?" she thought to herself.
Later, she approached Jara and requested, "I want to contact Anderson."
Upon hearing her words, Jara turned around and glanced at her.
Although his eyes were dark and mysterious, Clarissa could tell that he wouldn't refuse her.
With a nod, he answered, "Okay, I'll arrange it for you in a minute."
Hearing that, Clarissa puckered her brows.
For some reason, she felt that Jara was inconceivably easygoing today.
After a moment of silence, she asked, "Why did you come here this time?"
"I told you. I am here to save you," Jara replied.
Instantly, Clarissa scoffed.
"So, you happened to be nearby, coincidentally ran into me, and saved me? When I was in F Country, I called you, and you said you were in Ascijan."
After Jara heard her words, he looked at her and slightly narrowed his eyes.
Then, he gently raised the corner of his mouth. "Are you doubting me?"
His tone was cold, with a hint of unquestionable domineering.
With that, Clarissa paused for a moment.
Suddenly, she realized that he seemed to be mad.
However, he deserved to be mad. He had saved her out of kindness, and yet she questioned him that way.
Facing this kind of situation, anyone else would be angry too.
Thinking about that, she sighed.
As she thought that the way she talked might have made him misunderstand, she changed her tone. "I didn't mean to question you. What I mean is..."
For a while, she paused before she continued in a serious tone, "I'm just worried about you, Jara. Indeed, we didn't get along well for many reasons, but we're still friends, aren't we?"
Upon hearing that, Jara looked at her silently.
Later, Clarissa added, "This time, I sincerely thank you for saving me, but if there is anything you need help with, please let me know, okay?"
With his eyes squinted, he stared at her and just stood there without a word.
At that moment, a faint smile appeared on his face as if he was basked in a magnificent glow in the early morning sunshine.
After a while, he uttered, "I don't need any help."
He paused for a moment, and then smiled gently again.
"Don't worry. I'm here to see someone, so I'm dressed like this," he assured.
Pointing at his clothes, he continued, "I've no choice. You know my identity. If someone knows that I am here, I'm afraid that it might cause some unnecessary trouble and misunderstanding."
Hearing that, Clarissa breathed a sigh of relief.
"Good to hear that."
As she spoke, she turned back to look at the old clock hanging on the wall.
"When can I contact Anderson?" she asked.
Jara replied, "Later. I've already called him in advance, and he hasn't arrived in Barjila yet."
Hearing that, Clarissa was somewhat surprised.
"Did you tell him?"
"Hmm... What's wrong? Are you surprised?"
Then, Jara chuckled, "Maxi, do you think I'm that nasty?"
Upon hearing that, Clarissa forced a smile.
At the same time, she was secretly cursing in her heart.
"Who knows? You've done countless bad stuff in the past."
However, since Jara had helped her, she didn't think she should speak out her mind and disgrace him.
Instead, she changed the subject. "Well, in that case, I'll wait for your news."
After Jara responded with a nod, Clarissa left.
Later in the afternoon, Anderson arrived at Barjila.
Last night, he received a call from Jara and learned about Clarissa's whereabouts. Besides, Jara already had a way to bring her out, but he put it on hold since Anderson hadn't arrived yet.
Knowing that Nora had been injured, Anderson was worried about the two of them.
To avoid unnecessary troubles, he agreed to let Jara bring the two of them out.
Needless to say, Anderson had made a transaction with Jara.
And in any case, both Clarissa or Anderson knew that Jara would do his job.
This time, Jara saved Clarissa.
So, no matter what, he would make Anderson pay a huge price for it.
However, in Anderson's heart, as long as Clarissa was safe, he wouldn't mind paying Jara a hefty sum.
Therefore, Anderson and Jara had reached a deal.
In the afternoon, a car arrived outside.
It was Anderson who had arrived with his men.
As soon as Clarissa saw him, she was so excited that she immediately rushed to him.
When Anderson saw her, he opened his arms and firmly caught her.
At the same time, Nora also hobbled to him on crutches and apologized with red eyes, "I'm sorry, Mr. Jordan. This time, I didn't protect Clarissa well."
Upon hearing that, Anderson glanced at her and did not say anything.
Instead, he said, "Let's go back first."
When Clarissa and the others left, Jara did not come out to see them off.
As for the other man, he wasn't at home as well. Most probably, Jara had sent him somewhere else.
Therefore, Anderson managed to bring Clarissa and Nora with him without a hitch.
After that, Clarissa and Nora got in the car with him. As soon as they were in the car, Anderson's calm face suddenly changed.
Feeling nervous, he looked at Clarissa from head to toe and asked with concern, "How are you feeling? Is there any injury? Are you okay?"
To that, Clarissa shook her head. "I'm fine."
As she spoke, a sense of guilt rose in her heart.
"I'm sorry, Anderson. Actually, I lied to you this time."
When Anderson heard that, his finger paused.
Then, he looked at her and comforted, "It doesn't matter."
In fact, he had known earlier that work was not the only reason Clarissa went to F Country.
Moreover, he also knew what the knot in her heart was.
Naturally, he believed that she had her reasons for not telling him, and he thought that maybe he should let her investigate by herself so that she would feel at ease.
However, he never expected that midway, she would encounter such a dangerous situation.
If anything unfortunate really happened to Clarissa this time, he couldn't imagine how he would face that.
At the thought of this, he could feel a burst of lingering fear.
