Chapter 322 An Unintentional Mistake

As soon as Clarissa and Anderson entered the door, they heard Claus's deep and loud voice.
There were many people sitting in the living room. Not only everyone from the Levine family was here, there were also many people who came to congratulate when they heard that Vivian's daughter had been found.
Flaucford was filled with all sorts of people. As long as there was even the slightest movement, news would be easily spread out.
Clarissa and Anderson had arrived relatively late. When they arrived, not only the Holland family was here, the Blaine family had also arrived.
Marty was dragged by his father, Buckley Blaine, to sit there, with a reluctant look on his face.
When Buckley saw Anderson and Clarissa walking in from the outside, his eyes immediately lit up.
"Anderson, Clarissa, you both are here."
Anderson held Clarissa's hand and walked over together.
The housekeeper of the Levine family was an old man surnamed Boyle. He had been busy entertaining guests in the living room, so he didn't notice that they were at the entrance.
At this moment, he was surprised that Anderson was here. He immediately went up to welcome Anderson. He smiled apologetically and said, "Sorry, I have no idea Young Master Anderson will be here. I'm sorry for not welcoming you in time. Please forgive me."
Anderson smiled and said nonchalantly, "Mr. Boyle, you don't have to stand on ceremony. The Levine family and our family are family friends. I often came here when I was young, so I don't see myself as an outsider."
Next to them, someone immediately said jokingly, "Yes. Speaking of this, Young Master Anderson and Miss Levine were supposed to have an arranged marriage. If it weren't for this accident, they would have become husband and wife now. There's no need for..."
Before she could finish his words, the whole living room fell into a dead silence.
The lady who spoke was a noble lady, but no one knew which family she was from.
Realizing that everyone suddenly quieted down, she was stunned for a moment before she realized something. Her expression changed right away as she quickly covered her mouth.
Her husband sitting next to her threw her a glare.
Then, he quickly stepped forward and apologized with a smile.
"I'm sorry, Young Master Anderson, Mrs. Jordan. She just blurted that out on the spur of the moment. It was an unintentional mistake. She meant no harm."
Clarissa smiled.
"Mr. Owen, you don't have to do this. What Mrs. Owen said is true. It's not a secret. Besides, Anderson and I are already married. Naturally, we won't dwell on this kind of thing."
Mr. Owen was slightly relieved. He then buttered up to them courteously.
Old Master Levine was nearly eighty years old this year. He had always been in poor health from the fighting in the war in the past when he was young.
At this moment, he sat on the sofa and looked at the young couple coming in. After a while, he interrupted.
"Anderson and Clarissa are here. Come here and let me have a look."
Anderson hurriedly pulled Clarissa over.
They were about the same age, but Old Master Levine looked much older than Old Master Jordan and Matteo.
He looked up at Anderson and Clarissa who were in front of him, with a gratified smile on his weather-beaten face.
"Good, very good. It's been a long time since you came here. Have you been well recently?"
Anderson replied, "Thanks to you, everything is fine."
"That's good."
Old Master Levine patted his hand and sighed, "Your grandparents came last time and I got into an argument with your grandfather. He has been ignoring me for the past two days. Go back and tell him that he shouldn't be so stubborn!"
Anderson smiled.
"Alright."
Old Master Jordan and Old Master Levine used to be good friends who went through thick and thin together when they were young.
They were both a kid at heart, so even if they were in their seventies or eighties, they were always bickering with each other.
Gimmy sat on the other side and said to Anderson with a smile, "Since Anderson is here, you can stay with Clarissa for lunch. It's good that everyone is here today. The more the merrier."
Anderson didn't turn him down and nodded slightly. "That's exactly what I'm thinking."
Just as everyone was talking, a surprised laugh came from the stairs.
"Hey, I can see everyone is here so soon. Young Master Jordan and Mrs. Jordan, you are also here!"
Anderson nodded slightly and said, "Quinne, nice to meet you."
It was Gimmy's wife, Quinne Lawrence.
Quinne was born in a family of scholars. Both her parents were famous national artists. Children raised in such a family should be gentle and quiet, but Quinne was an impatient person.
Although Clarissa was not familiar with her, she had heard of her since she had been in Flaucford for so long.
Quinne was a quick-tempered person, but she was kind.
Quinne had a close relationship with Matteo. When she saw what was going on, she smiled and said, "Why are you still standing here? Come and sit here, we'll be having dinner in a while. Tonight, we must have a lively reunion dinner."
Gillee was the eldest of the Levine family's younger generation. Seeing this, he asked, "Where is Lara? Why hasn't she come down yet?"
Quinne smiled and said, "'Lara has been entertaining guests for the whole afternoon so she's a little tired. She's resting in her room. I'll get her to come down when the dinner is ready."
Hearing this, Gillee nodded.
It wasn't long before dinner was about to begin.
Quinne sent someone to call Lara for dinner. It was the first time that Clarissa had seen her a few months ago.
Lara was wearing a white wool sweater and a white wool skirt, revealing a pair of slender legs. Her chestnut brown hair was well-groomed and curled. She looked pure and cute, a look that was totally different from a few months ago when the Chapman family had fallen.
Lara walked down the marble steps with the help of the servants. When she came to the front of the crowd, she lowered her head slightly and greeted them with a smile.
"I'm sorry. It's all my fault. I was so tired this afternoon that I slept till now. I'm sorry for that."
Everyone quickly smiled and responded to her courteously. Lara smiled at each of them before her gaze finally fell on Clarissa.
Clarissa looked at her calmly.
Lara paused for a moment, but unexpectedly, Lara did not avoid Clarissa as she expected. Instead, Lara came over gracefully and said with a smile, "Clarissa, you're here too."
Clarissa raised her eyebrows in surprise.
It seemed to be a little different from what she had imagined.
Clarissa thought that Lara would feel guilty when she saw her, but it seemed that was not the case.
However, since Lara was not afraid, then Clarissa naturally had nothing to be afraid of.
Clarissa also returned a natural and graceful smile. "It's been a long time since we last met. Have you been doing well recently, Lara?"
Lara smiled. There was not a trace of resentment and hatred on her face when Lara was facing Clarissa, but only sincerity.
"Thanks to you, Clarissa. Although my life isn't as comfortable as it used to be, I'm able to live peacefully and carefreely now. I was sorry for what I've done to you in the past, but the times have changed. I hope you won't take it personally."
Clarissa smiled.
"Lara, you can't be serious. Let the bygones be bygones. We're living in the present now. You used to be my dad's illegitimate daughter, but now you are the precious daughter of the Levine family. Since your identity has changed, naturally we should have let go of our past grievances."
The bustling living room suddenly became quiet.
