Chapter 884 Have Mercy

Emmeline twisted the doorknob hard but it didn't work.
Someone must have locked it from the outside.
This was also within Emmeline's expectations. After some thought, she put it aside and began to fumble her way starting from the door instead.
At this time, in a villa not far from the wooden house.
A man was sat in front of the surveillance screen, enjoying a glass of red wine while watching the scene on the screen.
The image showed a struggling Emmeline groping along the wall bit by bit in the dilapidated wooden house.
She seemed to be groping while pricking her ears up to listen to something.
He couldn't help but raise his brows and questioned, "What is she doing?"
A man with a silver mask stood behind him with his arms folded. "She's probably observing the environment," he claimed.
The man was a little surprised, and then he laughed.
"Interesting."
The silver-masked man looked at her. "Sir, in fact, I don't see why we want to catch her?" asked the silver-masked man.
The man then responded in a deep voice, "What's wrong? Are you scared?"
The masked man frowned.
"It's not that I'm afraid. It's just that Jara is looking for her every day like crazy. Several of our places have been destroyed by him, and he doesn't make a clear distinction between the good and the bad, searching everywhere. I'm worried that he will find some clues after some time. When he comes to us, I'm afraid..."
"Afraid of what?" The man turned to look at him with a faint smile. "Do you think that Icarus Association can't beat Jara?"
In the face of his searing eyes, the masked man lowered his head.
"No. I just feel that all is complex. Another group has just been involved in this matter. I'm worried someone will take advantage of this."
Hearing this, the man turned his head and sneered.
"Don't worry. No one can take advantage of this because I never give them the opportunity."
As he spoke, he took another sip of red wine. When he peered at the surveillance screen again, his eyes darkened.
Seeing this, the masked man did not dare to say anything.
Right at this moment, someone knocked on the door.
He shouted, "Come in."
A tall and thin man then strode in.
"Grayclouds, it turns out that you are here. It took me a long time to find you."
When Grayclouds noticed the approaching figure, he smiled as he turned his head.
"Skylar, you must have been really busy recently wandering around all day. Why did you suddenly look for me?"
As he spoke, he rose up and walked over to give Skylar a courteous hug.
"It's nothing compared to you," Skylar answered with a smile.
As he said that, his gaze was drawn to the surveillance screen in front of him.
He raised his eyebrows, perplexed.
"Hey, why did you bring her here?"
Grayclouds gave him a sidelong glance before turning to watch the surveillance screen. "Skylar, she's an old friend of yours. Do you feel bad that she's now in my hands?"
Skylar let out a cold laugh.
"What for? You won't kill her anyway."
Grayclouds was stunned.
Following that, they burst out laughing.
Grayclouds reached out and patted Skylar on the shoulder. He then said, "You are right. I simply carried out my boss's instructions to kidnap her in exchange for something else. Other than that, I'm not sure. No worries. I know she is your friend. When I acquire the stuff, I'll let her go and not let her suffer."
He winked at Skylar in a playful manner as he talked.
However, Skylar acted as if he didn't see anything and ate a piece of fruit on the table.
Then he added slowly, "Let's get down to business. I came to see you today for a reason."
Grayclouds wandered the red wine slowly and looked at him intently. "What's the matter?"
"It's like this..."
Skylar took a chair up to him and sat down, then began to converse in detail about what he wanted to convey.
The two of them talked in the room. Seeing this, the masked man turned around and left.
After half an hour, they were finally done with their discussion.
"Then I'll leave it to you, Grayclouds," Skylar remarked as he rose from his chair.
Grayclouds greeted him with a fist pump and a grin, saying, "We're on the same boat anyway."
"Since there is nothing else, I'll go first."
"Alright."
As Skylar walked to the door, Grayclouds abruptly said again, "Hey, don't you want me to have mercy on your friend?"
Upon hearing this, Skylar came to a halt.
With a faint smile, he turned his head and murmured, "Grayclouds, it's all up to you. This has practically nothing to do with me. Everything is in your hands."
After that, he turned and left.
Grayclouds stood there, stunned.
A few seconds later, a man in a silver mask entered the room from the outside. He frowned coldly as he looked in the direction Skylar had gone.
"Sir, what does he mean?"
Grayclouds's wicked smile had been tucked away, and all that remained was indifference.
"Hmph! He's suggesting that there's no need to probe him in all ways."
He turned his head and looked at the surveillance screen as he talked.
Then, he ordered in a cold voice, "Bring her here."
"Yes, sir!" said the man in the silver mask after a brief hesitation.
Emmeline spent a lot of effort exploring the entire room and came to a basic conclusion.
It was a small, enclosed wooden home, roughly twenty square meters in size. Next to the door was a nailed window. Additionally, there was a faint sound of water, implying there was a river or a lake.
The floor was damp. When she touched a corner just now, she also touched some wet things like the net. If she guessed correctly, it should be the fishing gear.
This house should be home to a fisherman in the past, and now they locked her here.
She was kept here, not at their headquarters or in any other secret location. It appeared that the other party was not the group of people she had assumed. It was most likely another bunch of people.
Just as she was thinking about it, she heard footsteps coming from outside.
Her heart skipped a beat, and she immediately slid back into her seat.
When the silver-masked man opened the door, he noticed her sitting there obediently. He chuckled as he remembered the scene from the surveillance screen.
He approached her and took the rag from her mouth. Then, in hushed tones, he continued, "Since you're awake, why don't you call for help?"
The man's voice was low and hoarse. Emmeline was certain she had never heard it before.
She asked coldly, "Who are you?"
The man in the silver mask laughed again, raising his brows.
"Don't worry. You will know sooner or later, but not now."
As he spoke, he bent over and lifted her up.
