Chapter 677 Their Meet Up
When the assistant heard Buckley's words, he remained silent.
Before long, Buckley waved his hand and motioned for the assistant to leave.
He frowned deeply as he stared at the photos in the news on the computer screen.
After a while, he said to himself, "Sue, is it really you? Are you really back?"
At this time, on the other side.
The news on the Internet was a whirlwind of activity. Sue might not know how to use the Internet, but Clint, who was by her side, certainly did.
Sue was terrified when she first learned of the news.
After all, she had promised Charlotte that she would never come back.
But now, she not only came back, but she has also been secretly filmed and posted on the Internet. All should be aware of the news.
As for what had happened back then...
She felt restless at the thought of it. Her heart was filled with guilt and helplessness.
"Clint, I'd like to meet Charlotte. Can you help me reach her?"
Clint was sitting on the opposite sofa, fixing the piano for her.
Hering Sue's words, he raised his head and gave her a confused expression.
"Why do you want to see her?"
Sue didn't keep anything from Clint, either, and she told him about her concerns right away.
"I actually came back to meet Charlotte and Buckley to clarify the misunderstandings of that year to them," she explained softly.
"But when I met Charlotte that day, I didn't feel the need to explain anything. They seem to have a good relationship, and she is content."
"Well, it's been a long time. They might have forgotten about it or moved on long ago."
"If I insist on bringing it up again, I'm afraid it will harm their relationship, aside from the presumption that I'm trying to remind them of the pain on purpose."
"So I've decided not to say anything. Perhaps this time I return solely to visit my homeland and visit the place where I used to live as a kid."
"After that, I will leave. I really didn't want anyone to discover my existence."
"Unfortunately, my pictures have been uploaded to the internet. Clint, I am really scared now. If the news continues to spread, many more people will be aware of my presence."
"What if they soon discover about the past event? I don't know how I'm going to face Charlotte. She and Buckley have been together for a long time. If there really is a wedge between them because of me, I will never be able to atone for my sins, even if I die a million times."
Clint's brows furrowed tightly as he stared at her distressed expression.
He said in a deep voice, "The woman has humiliated you so much. It is entirely her fault if she is unhappy in her marriage. Why do you have to bear the brunt of the blame?"
Upon hearing that, Sue shook her head rapidly.
"No, it's not like that. The events of the past really did have a huge impact on them. I don't want to repeat my mistakes. So, Clint, will you please take me to see her? I want to explain everything clearly, and I don't want to delay any longer."
Clint was obviously unwilling to do so.
He knew that if they were going to meet up, it would undoubtedly be an unpleasant meeting.
However, he couldn't refuse when he saw the pleading look in Sue's eyes.
So, in the end, he still nodded and said softly, "I'll try."
Only then did she reveal a grateful smile.
Soon, Charlotte received Clint's message.
It was her assistant who passed on the message. Apparently, Clint got her assistant's contact and informed her that Miss Abel wanted to meet with her.
Since the assistant had no idea who Ms. Abel was, she didn't dare to delay and quickly informed Charlotte.
Charlotte recognized Miss Abel as soon as she heard it. She eventually decided to meet Sue after some deliberation.
Of course, Sue knew where the Blaines lived. After all, she used to go there often.
She didn't dare to go now, though. She didn't want to turn up because she didn't want to confirm the news that she was still alive on the Internet.
Besides, all she wanted to do was speak with Charlotte privately to explain the past incident and then leave, never to bother them again.
However, if she really went to the Blaine family and anyone with nefarious motives posted it on the internet, they would undoubtedly discover the event 26 years ago.
By then, not only would she fail to explain, but also worsen the misunderstanding. That was not the result she had hoped for at all.
After much contemplation, Sue decided to ask Clint for help in scheduling to meet with Charlotte in private.
The reason why Charlotte was willing to see her was most likely driven by fear or sympathy.
It was all out of curiosity. She was interested in seeing what Sue had to say to her.
Later, the two of them met in a relatively quiet and remote coffeehouse.
Since the cost of food was so high here, they naturally did a good job of maintaining a sense of safety.
Sue booked a private room and had been waiting for Charlotte's arrival for quite some time.
When Charlotte walked in, she saw that Sue was sitting there, focusing on arranging the tea set in front of her.
Sue then lifted her head when she heard the footsteps. Her eyes widened when she realized it was Charlotte, and she immediately rose to her feet.
"Charlotte, you are here!"
Then, Charlotte gave her a cold look and shifted her gaze to the rest of the room.
"Your little lover didn't come with you today?" she sneered as she discovered there were only two of them.
As soon as she said that, Sue's face suddenly couldn't help but blush.
She lowered her head slightly and said awkwardly, "Charlotte, don't say that. Clint and I are nothing more than brothers and sisters."
Hearing this, Charlotte lifted her eyebrows and scoffed.
"Brother? It seems that you have a lot of brothers. Well, I wonder if Clint knows what happened to you and whether he knows your true colors. Do you think he'll always treat you as his precious sister and support you with all his heart if he finds out?"
Sue's face quickly turned pale after Charlotte finished her sentence.
Her frail body trembled slightly as she sat there, seeming forbearing and pitiful at the same time.
However, she was not enraged. Instead, she forced out a smile.
With an extremely tolerant attitude, Sue said to Charlotte, "Just take out your anger on me, Charlotte. After all, this is the reason why I return. If there's something else you want to say, just say it. I will not talk back."
Her weak presence now was nothing compared to her former vibrant and active self.
