Chapter 586 Unbearable Memory

It was originally just a casual joke from the adults.
Unexpectedly, when Charlotte heard this, her face suddenly changed.
Suddenly, she turned her head and stared at the servant with a serious face, then said, "Don't talk nonsense! Humph, the Blaine family is of what status? For Marty's partner in the future, even if she is not the princess of the royal family, she should be the daughter of a well-matched wealthy family. Who is that girl?"
"She is just the daughter of an adjutant. it was only because my husband thinks highly of her father, so he allowed her to come and play often. But you should know that our family is no longer in the army, so the adjutant is useless. Can their family help Marty in business?"
"So, don't let me hear this again in the future. The Blaine family will never allow Marty to marry a woman with such a normal background. Do you understand?"
The servant did not expect her to suddenly react that seriously, and she was so scared that her face turned pale.
Hurriedly, she agreed and said, "Yes, Madam. I understand now."
Only then did Charlotte nod her head with satisfaction and continue to walk to the living room.
However, as soon as they stepped into the living room, they saw the little girl was standing there and looking at them with a confused look.
The little girl was actually not that young anymore. She was already nine years old and understood what the adults were saying.
Although she didn't understand it thoroughly, girls were usually more precocious than boys. Even if she didn't know why they said that her relationship with Marty would blossom, she could tell from Charlotte's tone that she despised her.
At that moment, when the servant saw her, her expression suddenly changed.
Immediately, she ran over awkwardly and asked with a smile, "Miss Hussain, why are you here? Why didn't you say anything? We didn't even see you."
There was panic in her eyes, and her hands' movements were also agitated as she held Evelyn's small little arms, almost hurting her.
But the little Evelyn didn't express any sign of pain, instead, she just stared at Charlotte.
On the other hand, Charlotte looked at her coldly, and there was no embarrassment or guilt on her face after being caught red-handed that she was bad-mouthing Evelyn.
In turn, she just stared at her coldly and sneered disdainfully.
"Since you're here, go to the backyard to have some snacks, so you don't waste your trip here."
With that, she turned around and was about to lead her to the backyard.
Unexpectedly, Evelyn suddenly spoke in a crisp voice.
"There's no need, Aunt Charlotte."
Putting down the toys in her hands, one by one, she placed them neatly on the table.
Then, without fear, she straightened up, looking at Charlotte, and said word by word, "I've had enough fun today. Thank you for your hospitality. I am going home now."
After that, she turned around and ran out.
Since then, she had never been to the Blaine family again.
She would never forget the look of disdain and contempt on Charlotte's face when she looked at her at that time.
That was the first time she felt the malice of this world.
Originally, she was a little princess who was pampered by her parents. Although Finneas was not very wealthy, he had been with Mr. Blaine for so many years. In the early years during the war, he had contributed a lot, so he had accumulated a lot of wealth as well.
Otherwise, he would not have bought a house and started a business when he brought them to the south.
Therefore, she was considered to have a very good family background back then.
However, even though she came from a rich family at that time, she was still despised by Charlotte openly.
It was as if she was looking at a piece of chewing gum, sticking to her home and refused to let go. Evelyn would never forget it and never want to see it again in her life.
That was the main reason why she didn't want to be with Marty.
She didn't want to see the look in Charlotte's eyes, and she didn't want to see her mother bear the malicious intent at her age.
After all, regardless of why Evelyn and Marty got together, when it came to Charlotte, she would eventually think that Evelyn did all she could to seduce her son for money and to marry into a rich and powerful family.
She no longer wanted to bear this misunderstanding, and she had fed up arguing about it.
When she was nine years old, she didn't refute. Now that she was already twenty-three years old, she wouldn't say anything further.
With these thoughts in mind, Evelyn dragged footsteps and walked forward tiredly.
However, even though she had already made up her mind, why did her tears dropped down uncontrollably?
Again and again, she could only raise her sleeve to wipe away her tears.
She said to herself that she had to be strong.
Wasn't he just a man?
There were so many men in this world, and he was not the only one. It didn't matter if she lost him. It was no big deal.
For her pride and dignity, she had to be strong. She would never let anyone see her like that, and would never let her old mother, who had suffered so much, worried about her again.
With these thoughts in mind, she quickened her pace and walked inside.
However, at this moment, she heard the sound of hurried footsteps behind her.
As she seemed to realize something, her face turned pale and she quickened her pace even more.
But, no matter how fast she walked, how could she beat a man?
Suddenly, Marty wrapped his arms around her from behind.
Subconsciously, Evelyn tried to break free and shouted. "Marty, let me go!"
"I won't let go!"
Holding on to her body, he was so strong that she even felt pain. It seemed that he was hugging her so tightly as if it would make her become one with him.
As he rested his head on her shoulder and felt her trembling body, he said in a low voice, "Evelyn, I don't agree to break up."
Hearing that, Evelyn was shocked!
In an instant, she stopped struggling.
Almost in disbelief, she asked him, "What did you say?"
Then, Marty repeated. "I don't agree to break up!"
As he spoke, he hugged her even tighter, as if he was afraid that she would disappear from his sight.
His voice was filled with long-suppressed emotion and reluctance.
"I don't care what was the reason that made you leave me, and I don't care whether you like me or not. I just want to tell you that I've fallen in love with you. I can't help but fall deeply in love with you. Either you be with me, or you kill me. I can't stand the days without you, and I don't want to see you with another man."
"The moment I think about you being with another man, I feel like I am going crazy. Evelyn, don't force me, and don't test my feelings for you, because I really don't know what I will do if that happens."
"Even if I ask you to have pity on me and try it out with me, sincerely putting down all prejudices, and try it out with me, will you? If you don't want to see my family, you don't have to. As long as you are happy, and you promise to never leave me in the future, everything will is up to you. If you don't fall in love with me after trying, then I will choose to give up."
