Chapter 880 Looking Strange
Emmeline didn't want to embarrass Rudy. After all, she knew how difficult it had been for him to get this far.
Anyway, she had helped them in tearing down the barrier that stood between them. As for their development in the future, it would depend on themselves.
Therefore, she did not coerce him. Instead, she nodded and said, "Alright, you can go."
Only then did Rudy turn around and exited the store.
After he left, Emmeline stepped forward, taking a serious look at Yunne.
Emmeline was delighted as she glanced at Yunne from head to toe.
She couldn't help but nod. "Yes. It's beautiful."
Then she waved her hand at the clerk and remarked, "I want this dress. Can I have the bill, please?"
Upon seeing this, Yunne instantly reached out her hand to stop her.
"Emmeline."
"What's wrong?" Emmeline looked at her, stunned.
"I... "
She stared at Yunne, who was speaking hesitantly. At the time, Yunne's bright eyes seemed to be filled with a plethora of complicated emotions.
Emmeline gazed at her, her beautiful brows slightly furrowed.
She knew Yunne was pondering about something today, so she turned to face her and inquired softly, "What's wrong?"
Yunne bit her lip, a struggle visible in her eyes. After a while, she shook her head.
She feigned a smile. "I don't think I can accept the expensive dress. After all, I'm just a maid..."
"Hush!"
Before she could finish her sentence, Emmeline cut her off.
Emmeline looked at her, sighed, and said, "What's the matter with your identity? As a servant, do you deserve to be inferior and never wear nice clothes? Yunne, you must make your own choices in life. Even if you are only a servant today, you may be something else in the future. At the end of the day, even if you end up being a servant forever, what's wrong?"
"People who make a living with their own hands should not be looked down upon in this world. I'm giving you the dress as a gift because I like you. I appreciate how well you constantly take care of me. That is all there is to it."
"And you don't have to stoop or feel guilty about it. All you have to do is be yourself. Do you understand?"
Yunne cast a quiet gaze her way. For some reason, Emmeline felt that Yunne's bright eyes were filled with melancholy at the time.
She pursed her lips and nodded heavily.
"Alright."
Emmeline suppressed the uneasiness in her heart, patted Yunne's head, and whispered, "Don't overthink it. It will be my fault if my kindness makes you feel uncomfortable."
She merely assumed that Yunne's self-esteem had suffered as a result of the valuable gift. As a result, she reassured Yunne and didn't think about anything else.
Yunne nodded.
Only then did Emmeline call the clerk again for the bill.
Yunne was wearing her new dress when they went out. Perhaps the saying "clothes make the man" was accurate.
When the two of them walked together before, even though Emmeline was rather near to Yunne, people could tell the difference at a glance.
However, once Yunne changed into the dress, everyone would believe they were sisters when they walked together.
Emmeline and Yunne then went shopping together at a few more stores.
Finally, she bought herself a pair of shoes. She was moved as she passed by a men's clothing store and noticed a man's suit hanging in the cabinet window.
It was a grey suit. Actually, Jara didn't wear a suit often. Or perhaps, it was just because he didn't wear it when he was with her.
But, for some inexplicable reason, Emmeline had the feeling that if he wore this suit, he would look fantastic.
So, she went inside without a doubt.
The clerk was a young man. He appeared energetic and handsome as if he were a fresh graduate.
He approached her politely to assist her.
Emmeline motioned to the men's suit and requested him to take it.
He naturally did as she said, and the grey suit quickly slipped into her hands. Emmeline examined the fabric, which Jara typically preferred.
She couldn't help but smile as she imagined Jara in the suit.
Just as she was watching, suddenly...
A familiar figure appeared in front of her.
It was a middle-aged man. He had most likely just tried on some clothes. At that time, he was heading to the front desk to check out.
And beside him, there was a woman.
The woman was dressed in a nude color dress. Her brows were delicate, and she had a tall and thin figure. She was holding his arm. The two of them looked very loving.
Emmeline immediately came to a halt.
The smile at the corners of her mouth vanished in an instant.
He appeared to have spotted her as well. Then he walked over, his eyebrows lifted in surprise.
"Miss Illington, long time no see. I didn't expect to see you here."
Luca extended a polite hand to her.
In response, Emmeline reached out and gently shook hands with him, then quickly retracted her hand.
She chuckled, "Yes, it's quite a coincidence. Mr. Marsh, are you here shopping as well?"
Luca turned to look at the woman beside him and smiled dotingly. "Well, I didn't want to come out at first, but Kayla was bored at home, so I accompanied her for a walk."
As soon as Luca said that, Emmeline's gaze was drawn to Kayla, who was standing next to him.
Kayla was considerably different from the image in her mind, though they hadn't seen each other in a long time.
In her memory, Kayla was arrogant, willful, bold, and rude. She was a woman whose emotions were apparent on the surface.
But now?
She was dressed maturely, and her brows were exquisitely drawn, giving her the appeal of a mature woman. She was now a lady who kept everything hidden in her heart.
Emmeline smiled as she closed her eyes slightly and stated, "In that case, I won't bother you guys."
As she said that, she handed the suit to the clerk and asked for the bill.
She was not familiar with Luca, and her relationship with Kayla was awkward. So they had nothing to talk about because they couldn't stand each other.
Seeing this, Luca naturally wouldn't hold Emmeline back anymore.
Turning around, he lowered his head and murmured a few words to Kayla. The two of them then walked to the other side.
Before leaving, Kayla turned her head and stared at Emmeline coldly.
Emmeline felt it, but she gave no response.
Regardless, her and Kayla's relationship was more akin to rivals than friends. After all, she was the one who made this choice and had no say in the matter.
After they left, Emmeline directly checked out and walked out with the suit in hand.
As she walked halfway, she noticed Yunne, who was standing next to her, looking strange.
She couldn't help but frown and inquired, "What's wrong? Why do you look so pale?"
"I'm fine." Yunne mustered a smile as she faced Emmeline.
Emmeline was not at ease when she heard this. Her frown, on the other hand, was much deeper.
