Chapter 13 Sigh With Twilight
The next day, Clarissa arrived at the company early in the morning.
As soon as she entered the office, she felt that the atmosphere was a little different.
Everyone was whispering something in each other's ears. When they saw her come in, their faces changed slightly, but they all shut up at the same time, secretly glancing at her with strange eyes.
Clarissa frowned and entered her office, looking steadily forward.
As soon as she sat down, she used the inside telephone and called Millie to come in.
When Millie came in, she looked a little nervous, and there was even a hint of sympathy in her eyes when she looked at Clarissa.
Clarissa was amused. Leaning against the chair, she looked at her, "What happened? We haven't seen each other just for two days. Why are you looking at me like this?"
Millie smiled awkwardly and said in a dilemma, "Miss Chapman, didn't you... receive any news in advance?"
Clarissa raised her eyebrows, picked up the cup on the table and poured herself a glass of water. She said casually while drinking, "No! What's wrong?"
"Well... Nothing. I just heard that there will be a new employee in our company today. It seems that she will come to our department."
"Really? Have you all received the news?"
"I heard it from the people in the personnel department when they chatted. The new employee seems to be quite experienced and famous in the public relations circle. She has solved many problems for many A-list actors."
She paused for a while and looked at Clarissa with hesitation, with a trace of embarrassment in her eyes.
"Miss Chapman, Mr. Duncan hired such a person... Do you know what does he mean?"
Everyone in the company knew that the public relations department of Twilight was in the charge of Clarissa. They did not know about her background, because she was a low-key person. Apart from official business, she barely talked about anything else in the company.
But no matter what background she had, she was only in her twenties. How could she have long credentials?
In the seniority system, no one would believe that Elliot hired such a capable person to work as Clarissa's assistant.
If she wouldn't be Clarissa's assistant, she could only be...
Clarissa finally understood why everyone looked at her with so strange eyes.
She came to sense and composed the emotions in her eyes. Then she said with a faint smile, "I know. You can go out first!"
Millie was a little worried when she saw how calm Clarissa was, but she knew that she was not qualified to interfere in the matter. She could only leave with a worried face.
After Millie left, Clarissa thought for a while and then smiled.
She packed up her things simply, took out the envelope she had prepared from her bag, and then walked to the conference room.
At nine o'clock in the morning.
All the top managers were sitting in the conference room.
Seeing her coming in, everyone greeted her one after another, some sincerely and some hypocritically.
Although most people were convinced by the ability and courage she had shown in the past two years, there were still a small number of people thought that she didn't deserve to work as such an important manager, because she was too young.
Clarissa had no time to think about the thoughts of these people. She walked to her seat and sat down.
At this moment, the door of the conference room was pushed open again. She looked up and saw Elliot coming in with a group of people.
Clarissa opened her eyes wide in shock and her face turned cold all of a sudden.
Apart from his two secretaries, behind Elliot was Lara and her agent, Erin Peters.
Everyone in this circle knew that Erin used to be a public relations officer. She had developed many famous actors and her achievements could be said to be extraordinary.
However, she became an agent afterwards. Maybe it was because the industry changed too fast or she was unaccustomed to being an agent, although she had worked for several actors, those actors were not very popular. Only Lara was a little famous.
It turned out that she was the new employee Elliot hired?
Clarissa sneered with sarcasm.
The other top managers were a little confused when they saw Lara and Erin.
Naturally, everyone knew Lara. She was a first-line female artiste in the entertainment circle. Although she had only debuted for four years, she was very popular.
It was said that she was the daughter of the Chapman family. Although she hadn't signed with an agency yet, she had established her own studio. As long as her family was willing to invest money, she would have many chances to act.
But not everyone knew who Erin was.
When she was at the top of her career, it was 10 years ago.
People in the entertainment industry replaced quickly. Most of the people present had no more than six or seven years of experience, and only a few of them had ten years of experience.
Therefore, only those who had ten years of experience realized what would happen when they saw Erin and thought of the rumors this morning.
There was a hint of sympathy in their eyes when they looked at Clarissa.
Everyone could see that Clarissa really cared about the company.
Two years ago, she joined the company when it was in the most difficult situation. She saved the critical situation and kept the last several valuable actors for the company.
In the past two years, she worked conscientiously. She worked the hardest and solved the most problems. Every actor in the company would ask for her help when they got into trouble.
But after the development of the company, she would be replaced by someone else. Anyone who thought about it would feel bitterly disappointed.
Some people sympathize with her, and there were still some people who took pleasure in her misfortune.
When those who didn't get along well with Clarissa came to their senses, they immediately went forward and greeted Erin and Lara with a smile, flattering Lara.
Lara smiled tenderly and responded them one by one. She still looked gentle and elegant. Only when she looked at Clarissa did she unconsciously show a trace of pride in the depths of her eyes.
Clarissa lowered her head slightly, pretending that she didn't see Lara.
She looked at her watch with no expression on her face. After a while, she finally heard Elliot speak.
"Well, it's time for our meeting!"
Everyone returned to their seats.
Elliot took a look at Clarissa, and the expression in his eyes was a little complicated.
But he hid the guilt that was not obvious in his eyes. He said in a deep voice, "Let me introduce you. This is Lara. I think all of you should know her."
Other managers said, "Miss Chapman is so popular now. Of course we know her!"
"I always see Miss Chapman on TV. I didn't expect that she looks more beautiful than on TV."
"Miss Chapman is indeed the most popular female artiste at present!"
Everyone flattered Lara, and Elliot nodded his head with satisfaction.
"I held this meeting to announce two things. First, Lara will sign with our company and become the most important actor in our company."
Everyone was stunned at first, and then they applauded.
"Really? That's great!"
"If Miss Chapman signs with our company, it's a win-win co-operation. In the future, we'll have a cordial working relationship and scale new heights!"
