Chapter 773 Begged Him for a Favor

In fact, when Emmeline and Jara were still getting along back then, she already knew that there were guards nearby.
It was just that at that time, they were guarding openly, but now they were doing it in secret It was obvious that Jara had significantly raised the level of security in the castle.
As a professional killer, she was used to getting familiar with her surroundings in the first place. However, she hadn't put too much thought into the presence of the guards. After all, Jara's identity was special.
Furthermore, the Holland family was very rich!
The riches were usually afraid to die. So surely they ought to hire a few people who were actually capable of protecting them every day, lest someone lost their minds and decided to rob them with guns and cannons one day.
There were many psychotic people in this world who despised the rich.
Although that was the case, Emmeline still kept an eye on them. Taking advantage of a dark and windy night, she secretly figured out the general spots where the guards would be on duty, then took a mental note about it.
Even though she had an agreement with Jara, her current situation here was not ideal, so figuring these out could be useful one day.
With the level of hate they had for each other, perhaps they would come at each other one day.
Furthermore, none of the people in the castle was on her side. In truth, if it weren't for the fact that it was too difficult for her to do what she had to do alone, she wouldn't stay back and suffer the looks of disdain.
With such a thought in mind, she felt her heart clench suddenly as if someone had squeezed it by force, and she frowned slightly due to the pain.
Blinking her deep dark eyes, she took a deep breath to calm herself down and suppressed her emotions, then turned on the computer.
First, she browsed through several entertainment websites before visiting the news page.
Since she didn't know whether the network here was safe, she didn't dare to log into some of the military websites that contained crucial insights which she would usually check previously, even if it would probably contain more information she wanted to know.
After casually browsing through several military websites, except for the recent border defense maneuvers, there was nothing new. While Emmeline was feeling slightly disappointed, a pop-up window suddenly appeared from Twitter and caught her attention.
After clicking the pop-up window, she realized it was a piece of news about a girl who was studying abroad in Xushoyji. When she was leaving the nightclub, she was raped, then murdered. Emmeline skimmed through the news, and when she saw the last photo, she was shocked.
The photo was taken in a stinking ditch next to a road, and the body was completely naked. Dark red colorations were already appearing all over the dead body, and she looked pale. The lower half of the body that was slightly rotten was covered in tiny aquatic creatures. It was hard to tell what they were exactly, but it looked particularly disgusting and horrible.
In an instant, Emmeline's face turned pale, and her breathing became rapid. Her fingers, which were grabbing the edge of the computer, had turned white because of the force. She stared motionlessly at the photos on the screen, and her eyes darkened as if the devil had risen from hell.
Slam!
Suddenly, she closed the laptop, then closed her eyes and raised her head, as if she was controlling her emotions.
Then, she quickly jumped off the bed.
It was already 11 o'clock in the evening. Most of the family members had already fallen asleep, but there was definitely someone who hadn't slept yet—Jara.
When she came to the main building, as expected, she could see from a distance that the lights in the study were still on.
After a few days of observation, Emmeline knew that he would not rest after one or two o'clock in the morning, and he would head out on time at seven o'clock in the morning, so the two didn't really have a chance to meet.
This was the first time that she had taken the initiative to visit him in the past few days.
Because it was nighttime and she was at home, she only wore pajamas. It was maroon in color and, and a two-piece with a singlet inside and a thin silk cardigan on the outside.
Bang, bang, bang!
Walking to the door of the study, she knocked on the door.
Three seconds later, Jara responded with a clear and low voice. "Come in."
When Emmeline pushed open the door, she saw Jara who was sat focussing behind the desk. The dim light illuminated his chiseled jawline, and his long eyebrows that were slightly furrowed. His thin lips were curved into a beautiful arch, and it was as if he was a still oil painting.
He didn't look up as he seemed to know who the visitor was.
As expected, she heard him asking briskly in the next second, "What's the matter?"
While Emmeline didn't enter the room, she stood at the door, which was neither too far nor too close away from him, narrowing her eyes, as she uttered softly, "Yes."
After hesitating for three seconds, she finally said her request. "I have to go to Eclor tomorrow morning. Can you arrange a flight for me?"
Because the Holland Group had already acquired Asco Automobile Corporation in Xushoyji, and the corporation had debt issues with the airlines in Xushoyji, Emmeline knew that Jara could enjoy some privileges in some aspects.
And since she had to get to Eclor tomorrow morning, it was obviously too late to book a ticket now, so she had to ask him for help.
However, Jara didn't even raise his head while he replied in a rather carefree manner, "Why are you going there?"
"A friend died and I want to attend the funeral." At times, Emmeline could lie without even blinking her eyes.
"What's the name?"
When Emmeline heard that, she was slightly stunned and asked, "Who?"
After five seconds, Jara finally lifted his face from the pile of documents. Under the light, his dark eyes were as calm as the deep sea at night. Then, his thin lips moved a little, as he said, "Your friend."
Hearing that, Emmeline was at a loss for words.
That was just a casual lie Emmeline made up. How could she have thought of a name? She was afraid that if she randomly came up with a name, he would get to the bottom of it, so she might as well not reply.
Without getting a response, Jara raised his eyebrows and seemed a little impatient.
She thought for a while and suddenly felt a little nervous. So, she casually leaned her shoulders against the door and said, "You wouldn't know even if I tell you, so just tell me if you want to help me or not!"
Pursing his lips Jara did not reply. His gaze was like a scanner as he looked at her up and down.
Then he lowered his head and continued to read his documents, but his eyes became deeper than before.
"No!" He refused in a deep voice.
After a pause, he seemed to realize she was looking at him with her burning gaze. With a subtle frown, he looked up at Emmeline and calmly explained. "There will be a typhoon tomorrow. If it's not a close friend, send someone there to attend!"
Hearing that, Emmeline was stunned again, but immediately, she came to her senses as she shook her head and refused. "No need."
When she finished her sentence, she turned around and left amidst Jara's surprised gaze. Before leaving, she even closed the door of the study room politely.
However, as soon as she closed the door, she could not help but frown slightly.
In the middle of the night, only the orange lamp on the wall of the corridor was turned on. The soft light elongated her shadow, extending it into the darkness, as she stood straight under the light and did not move for a long time, like a silent sculpture.
"I won't let you rot in that filthy land!" With that, Emmeline silently clenched her fists.
