Chapter 344 Benefitting All Of Us

Lara greeted everyone at one go. Her voice was gentle and her smile was sweet.
She wore a white evening gown with small diamonds decorating the collar, looking gorgeous and graceful. The mermaid dress's design outlined her slender figure perfectly. She held her head high as she was a proud princess.
If they hadn't known her long ago, they would have been deceived by her appearance.
Aidan nodded slightly at her. Lauren snorted coldly and turned her head away to ignore her.
Seeing this, Lara did not feel awkward at all and said with a smile, "Today is grandpa's birthday party. Thank you for coming. I propose a toast to you on his behalf."
Lauren sneered, "I've seen many people who don't know their place in this world. This is the first time I've seen someone who not only does not know her place, but also a wannabe. Don't think that you're above everyone else just because you have changed your identity. You probably have no clue that everyone already knows your true identity and they are just waiting for you to make a fool out of yourself!"
Hearing this, Marty couldn't help but laugh.
Lauren was known to have a sharp tongue.
Of course, although Clarissa and Anderson were good at being sarcastic as well, they were too aloof and lazy to waste their breath on people like Lara.
Lara's smile was a little stiff, but after all, she had been cultivating for many years so she had better control of herself now.
Lara quickly calmed down and regained her composure. She said softly, "I know you have always had some misunderstandings about me. But it doesn't matter. It's said that time would reveal a person's character. I believe that as time goes by, you will believe that I am not the kind of person you think I am.
And you were talking about wannabe? It sounded like you were talking about yourself. After all, I am the biological granddaughter of Old Master Levine. I've got everything today because I got acknowledged to be a part of the Levine family.
"Unlike some people, who can rise to the top just with their means and appearance. So if you really want to talk about it, it's a more apt description for you than me."
Lauren flew into a rage.
"What did you say?"
Anderson and Jameson's expression turned sombre as well.
Lara was still smiling calmly. She said softly, "Why are you so mad, Miss Jones? You were the one who started this. I was just having a discussion with you. Why are you mad? Is it because I've hit the nail on the head?
"Oh, if that's the case then I'm really sorry. I was just saying it casually. Please don't assume that I'm talking about you, otherwise, it will be a misunderstanding. That would be bad. What do you think?"
Lauren was so angry that her face turned green then pale. However, she chose not to make a scene as she couldn't embarrass Old Master Levine on his birthday banquet and there were so many people here.
Clarissa secretly tugged at her sleeve.
Clarissa looked up at Lara as her lips curved into a beautiful smile. She said gently, "It seemed that you are able to explain the phrase so clearly, you must have really done your research on it. In that case, here's another phrase for you to learn—  persisting in evil brings about self-destruction!"
Lara, we all know who you are. Everyone is just hiding the truth from Old Master Levine. But you have to understand that we are doing this out of kindness so to not ruin Old Master Levine's wishes that have just been fulfilled. We're not doing this to help you.
"A clever person should know that under such circumstances, it will be the best to keep a low-profile. But why did you keep provoking us? Apparently, being the heiress of the Levine family is not enough for you?"
Lara's expression suddenly changed.
She glared at Clarissa, as if her gaze was coated with poison and she couldn't wait to poison her to death immediately.
Clarissa couldn't care less. Over the years, she had already gotten tired of fighting with Lara.
The look in Lara's eyes had no effect on herself at all.
Anderson spoke from the side in a timely manner.
"If I were you, Lara, I would not be making any snarky remarks here. Instead, I would stand by and pray for Old Master Levine, for him to live a long life. You can't change the truth.  After all, if anything happens to the Old Master, I'm afraid that the one who would make you suffer the most would not be us, but the people around you. Lara what do you think?"
Lara's expression changed again.
However, this time she did not say anything. At the same time, Gillee sent someone to get her, so she snorted and turned away.
Watching her back as she left, Lauren snorted with disdain. "What a sc*undrel!"
Clarissa couldn't hold back her laughter. She turned to look at her. "Why did you bother to get angry at her? It's not your first time knowing what she's like. Don't let her affect your mood for nothing."
Lauren was still a little angry.
She held her arm with a frustrated expression.
"I just don't like how arrogant Lara is now. Who does she think she is? Does she really regard herself as the heiress of the Levine family? She was the one who was driven out of Visstead like a loser!"
The smile on Clarissa's face faded away.
Clarissa looked at the direction in which Lara left and seemed to be thinking about something.
"If a loser like her is able to end up in her position today within a few months, it just shows how powerful she is."
Lauren sneered.
"I guess a villain always finds a way to come back and harm others!"
Clarissa laughed.
"Anyway, we won't be harmed. The Levine family is the one who got her here so they'll deal with her by themselves in the end."
With that, they stopped dwelling on this matter and changed the topic.
On the other side, Gillee took Lara to a corner and said in a low voice with a stern face, "What did you say to them just now?"
Lara lowered her head slightly, looking timid. "I didn't say anything. I just saw someone that I knew, so I went over to greet them."
Gillee angrily said, "To greet them? Don't you know your place? You know well that Anderson and Clarissa did not like you, yet you took the initiative to provoke them. Your life is too comfortable now that you want to make trouble for yourself?"
Lara pursed her lips.
She looked up and glanced at Gillee, with a trace of grievance in her eyes.
"Gillee, in fact, I didn't mean to provoke them. But everyone else knows that there was a huge conflict between Clarissa and me before. Although I have now returned to the Levine family, what happened in the past still has a great impact on me.
"At that time, the Chapman family had indeed done her wrong, but it had nothing to do with me. Thus, I was wondering if I could fix my relationship with her. In this way, as long as she was willing to forgive me and everyone could see that we are on good terms, that would be sufficient to kill any rumors about me. It would benefit both you and me, wouldn't it?"
