Chapter 336 United As One

Jameson turned his head and glanced at her. Under his gaze, Lauren could not hold back her feelings as she complained, "The proposal wasn't romantic at all. Besides, there's no wedding ceremony being held, so I won't admit that we're married. Dream on, Jameson."
Jameson shrugged indifferently. "It doesn't matter, as long as the law recognizes it."
Lauren was speechless.
The car soon arrived at the airport.
When she looked at the flight ticket that had been prepared by Jameson in advance, Lauren hesitated.
She knew what was going to happen when Dexter found out about what had happened after he returned home, but Lauren still followed him to board the plane.
Lauren also knew that once she made a choice, there would be no turning back for her.
Even if Lauren had told him that she did not recognize their marriage, deep inside her heart, she had acknowledged the fact that they were married.
She had voluntarily signed up for it. The marriage certificate was real and existing, it was also a reflection of the voice deep inside her head.
By the time they arrived in Flaucford, it was already four o'clock in the afternoon.
On the plane, Lauren turned off her phone, so she could not receive any phone calls.
However, as soon as she got off the plane, her phone did not stop ringing.
There were calls from Dexter, and also Alex.
She hesitated for a moment and didn't answer Dexter's call. Instead, she picked up Alex's call.
As soon as the call was connected, the exasperated voice of Alex was heard.
"Lauren! Are you out of your mind? You know Dexter would not agree to your relationship, yet you still brought Jameson to our house? Where are you now? Come back now!"
Lauren sat in the car, with her head down and her face expressionless, as she fiddled with the hole in her ripped jeans.
"We're married."
"You're married? You're kidding... What did you just say? You..."
Realization hit Alex hard. Lauren could tell from his silence that he probably was going to fly off the handle now. She was stunned for a moment and couldn't help but say, "Alex, I'm also a little upset now and don't want to quarrel with Dexter now. Please help me to appease him. After a while, when he calms down and completely digests the news, I'll go back with Jameson and talk with him face to face."
Alex was so angry that he laughed. "Lauren, you've grown stronger enough to be on your own, haven't you? Help you to appease Dexter? How the hell can I do that for you? Have you ever thought about me before you made the decision to marry him without asking us? I helped you steal that contract and right after that, you are married to Jameson. How am I supposed to explain this to Dexter? Are you trying to get me killed?"
"I'm sorry, Alex."
"I'm not your brother anymore. You chose a man over your family. I don't have a sister like you!"
Lauren felt a little depressed for a moment. Although she knew that Alex was just saying these words out of anger, her eyes still reddened upon hearing them.
She quickly looked up and turned to look out of the window, keeping her eyes wide open so that she could hold back her tears.
"Alex, you will always be my brother. Even if you disown me, I'm never going to let you go. I guess you will be busy with the family affairs from now on and I'm grateful for that. Don't worry, I will take good care of myself. I will come back when Dexter has simmered down. That's all for now. I'm hanging up now. Take good care of yourself too."
After that, Lauren quickly hung up the phone, as if she was afraid that she would have a meltdown soon if she said one more word.
Throughout their conversation over the phone, Jameson sat on the other side, looking at her coldly without saying anything.
The car fell into a dead silence.
This silence was only broken when they reached the entrance of the villa.
"Young Master Jameson, we're here."
Jameson nodded, opened the door and got out of the car.
Lauren rushed out of the car without thinking.
When they reached home, Lauren went straight back to the bedroom. Jameson followed her after putting her luggage down.
Now there were only two of them in the house, Lauren did not lock the door so Jameson could enter the bedroom easily. He saw that Lauren was sitting in front of the window with her face covered with tears.
His eyes dimmed slightly.
But in the end, he did not go over to comfort her. He knew that there was no use of comforting her at the moment.
Dexter did not like him, neither did he like the Jones family. It was a fact that could not be changed even if one of them bowed down to another.
It was a choice that she had to make.
Lauren felt so much better after crying for a while. When she turned around and found Jameson was standing at the door with his arms crossed, she flew into a rage.
"What are you doing here?"
Jameson raised his eyebrows.
"This is my home. Why can't I be here?"
Lauren was so angry that she started laughing.
"You're really shameless. This is the house Clarissa got for me. Not to mention you, I wouldn't even say that this is my house, yet you've said it."
Jameson's expression did not change, and he still said, "If you like it, I can buy this house, or if you pick wherever you like."
Lauren choked.
She felt anger was boiling up inside her. Lauren pushed Jameson away without hesitation.
"Get out, and go back to your own home. This is not your house."
Jameson suddenly held her hand.
She was stunned for a moment. When she looked up, she met with his eyes. He looked serious.
"Lauren, I'm serious. Home is wherever you are. Nothing else matters."
Lauren suddenly froze.
A sense of bitterness welled up from the bottom of her heart, full of all kinds of emotions.
Lauren quickly retracted her hand and turned her gaze to the side. She did not dare to look him in the eye.
But she still said, "Who wants to be in a family with you? You're thinking too much!"
Jameson did not bother to refute her and just chuckled. "As a couple, we should be united as one. You should know this by now."
Lauren was speechless.
For a moment, she was at loss for words.
Jameson smiled happily after she got embarrassed.
He leaned forward slightly and approached her. He pinched her cheek annoyingly and said in a low voice, "Call me hubby."
Lauren glared at him.
"Dream on!"
After that, she ignored him, turned around, and walked to the bed.
Jameson was not even mad after she gave her the cold shoulder. Instead, he laughed in a low voice.
After a long day, he was also a little tired. He did not have the energy to argue with her anymore, so he took his clothes to take a shower.
A while ago, Jameson occasionally came to live here, so he had some spare clothes here.
Lauren lied on the bed, feeling a little tired. She gritted her teeth and thought, "I shouldn't have been so soft-hearted and agreed to him."
She was being put in an awkward situation now.
When Lauren thought of what had just happened, she still felt a little confused.
Were they really married?
Why did it feel so surreal?
She stretched out her hand and pinched her arm. She felt a little pain, suggesting to her that it was not a dream.
Lauren couldn't help sighing again. She grabbed the pillow beside her and covered her eyes.
After a while, a squeak came from the bathroom door as someone came out of the room.
She immediately removed the pillow and turned to look at Jameson who had just taken a shower.
He didn't put on his clothes. There was only a white bath towel wrapped around his body, revealing his tanned skin. The muscles on his body were firm and beautiful, as if every piece was carefully carved by God, sexy but not overbearing.
Lauren didn't know why, she had seen this body more than once, but she still couldn't help blushing every time she saw it.
