Chapter 362 Falling Off The Cliff
The next day, Clarissa returned to shooting a series.
Recently, she had taken up a role in a period drama, set in wartime. Although the theme was not very popular, Clarissa liked it very much after reading the script. So even though she was not the female lead, she still agreed to take part in it.
Today, Clarissa had a fighting scene with the second male lead.
In order to ensure that the scene looked real enough, the director did not choose to film it indoors and edit it afterward. Instead, he chose to do the shooting at the real venue.
The site chosen by the crew was located on a famous mountain on the outskirts of the Flaucford city.
This mountain was famous because there was a lighthouse on top of the mountain. The scenery on the mountain was beautiful, covered with green. It just happened that today was a sunny day. Standing on the mountain, one would feel relaxed and happy.
Before filming, the crew had already cleared up the venue and set up the cameras in advance. Clarissa came out after changing her clothes and was ready to be attached to the wires for wire-flying.
This scene would take place at the edge of a cliff.
The character played by Clarissa was a geisha on the surface. But in fact, she was a killer from a neighboring country.
For the sake of the survival of her motherland, she had assassinated the Crown Prince of the empire.
The second male lead discovered her identity and chased her all the way to the edge of the cliff.
Here, the second male lead would have a life-and-death battle with Clarissa's character. In the end, she was seriously injured after being defeated by the second male lead and a group of soldiers. She fell off the cliff.
The personality of Clarissa's role was relatively cold and reticent, which was just in line with Clarissa's character.
After putting on the harness with her make up on, the director called out, "Action!"
Clarissa's eyes suddenly became cold.
With a trace of blood at the corner of her mouth, she covered her wounded chest with her hand and retreated to the edge of the cliff with a knife in her hand.
Dylan Bryan, who played the second male lead, said in a low voice, "You're reached the end of the cliff. Just surrender!"
Clarissa slowly raised the corner of her mouth.
Her smile was cold and determined.
"No, I still have one more way out!"
As she spoke, she let go of her hand that was covering her chest, grasped the hilt of her blade before raising it up.
The expressions of the soldiers who came after her changed.
Dylan's expression darkened and he said in a low voice, "You fought hard for your homeland, seeking nothing but glory and wealth. Now that you're at the end of your rope and I've pleaded to the minister to spare your life, why do you have to resist?"
Clarissa sneered.
There was not a trace of emotion on Clarissa's cold and delicate face.
"There's nothing to be afraid of to die for your country!"
After that, she charged towards Dylan with the sword in her hand.
When wires moved, the battle began.
Clarissa had already rehearsed the scene with Dylan in advance under the guidance of the fight choreographer, so the two people fought back and forth in one take. It was a wonderful and exciting fight.
Finally, Dylan punched Clarissa on her left shoulder. Clarissa spat out a mouthful of blood before falling off the cliff in the end.
Of course, she didn't really fall to the bottom of the cliff. But from the camera, it would appear that Clarissa had fallen off the cliff. In fact, Clarissa would be suspended in the air by the wires until they finished shooting the scene before pulling her up again.
However, right at this moment, an incident occurred!
Clarissa had already prepared to fall off the cliff once she was punched by Dylan.
But as soon as her feet just left the ground, she heard a "squeak" sound.
She didn't even have time to react before she felt her center of gravity shift. The wires on her left had already snapped!
Clarissa was so scared that her face fell.
The scariest thing was that when she looked up, she found that the wires on the right were about to break too.
She quickly reached out to grab the wires. At this moment, there was a "crack" sound. As expected, the rope on the right was broken.
Clarissa could only hold on to the wires with her two hands. She was hung in mid-air, like a kite.
At this moment, the staff around also found that something was wrong.
"What's the matter? Why hasn't she been pulled up yet?"
One of the staff from the props crew ran over in a hurry and said in a hurry, "Director, something's wrong with the machine. We can't lift her up."
The director's expression changed drastically.
"What?"
He quickly stood up and ran to the side of the machine. "What's going on? How could there be a problem?"
The staff in charge of the wires said, "I don't know. It was fine in the morning, but I didn't know how it got stuck at this time."
The director's name was Bruce Everett. The reason he invited Clarissa to play this role was that she was suitable for the role and she was strongly recommended by Freddie.
Therefore, he knew the identity and background of Clarissa.
At this time, no matter how hard the props crew tried, the machine did not work at all, which made his heart sink.
They had been filming the series for such a long time and there had never been such a problem. How could it suddenly break down today?
Bruce didn't have time to think about it. He quickly came to the edge of the cliff and gazed down, shouting, "Clarissa, how are you?"
At this time, Clarissa could only rely on the strength of her arms. She held onto the wires tightly, she was worn out.
But she still gritted her teeth and said, "I'm fine, but the wires around my waist are broken, and now I can only rely on my hands to grab it. What's wrong with the machine up there?"
When the director heard that the wires were broken, his facial expression changed and his heart sank even more.
"It's okay. There's something wrong with the machine. Hold on for a while. I'll send someone to save you right away."
After that, the director hurried to find someone to get the lifeline.
At this time, Clarissa was already at the end of her rope.
The wires were made of steel and her entire body's weight was only supported by her hands. Due to the strength she exerted, the steel wire was bound into her flesh, as a heart-wrenching pain came from her palm, causing her to almost want to give up.
However, Clarissa still gritted her teeth and held on to the wires tightly, even though there was blood flowing down her palms and her two arms were trembling due to the pain.
Because, right underneath her, was more than a thousand feet's height.
If Clarissa let go and fall from here, she guaranteed that she would be smashed to pieces, not even a slag left.
After a long while, the lifeline was finally put down.
However, Clarissa no longer had the strength to grab it. About a few dozen seconds later, a staff member climbed down the lifeline.
"Clarissa, hold on, I'll save you right away."
He said as he hung another rope on Clarissa's waist.
At this moment, there was a rumbling sound of thunder coming from the sky.
In the blink of an eye, it was raining cats and dogs.
Clarissa's entire body was completely drained of energy. Her arms trembled as she allowed the person who came to rescue her to hang the wires around her harness. Loosening the wires, Clarissa was suspended mid-air with the wires together with him.
He shouted at Clarissa in the rain, "Hold on, we're going to go up soon."
For some reason, she could not see his face clearly.
She could only vaguely see that his mouth was opening and closing, so she nodded in cooperation.
The staff was experienced in climbing mountains.
About two minutes later, they returned to the ground.
