Chapter 911 I Will Stick With You Come Hell Or High Water

Even when Luca's men surrounded the place outside, his life was in Jara's hands, and he knew Jara would not hesitate to kill him.
There was no doubt that the man in front of him was in a crazed state.
Indeed, he would die here if he infuriated Jara further.
It was better not to say anything provocative.
He kept his temper and attempted to offer counsel, "I am at a loss. Jara, calm down and think about it. After all, I am a member of the Marsh family, do you know the consequences if you harm me?"
"I may be ordinary kin in the Marsh family. Should I die by your hand, you will still be hunted down for reputation's sake."
"Then, you will be hemmed on both sides by the Icarus Association and the Marsh family. Are you sure you want to risk the lives of all in the Lost Vanguard syndicate?"
Everyone in the living room fell silent at his words.
Jara was unmoved. He did not let go of Luca, but he did not move forward either.
Meanwhile, Kayla walked over cautiously.
She was horrified with what was happening and proposed, "Mr. Holland, can we talk this over? Mr. Marsh and you are friends. Isn't there any room for discussion? As for the gun..."
As she spoke, she reached out to Jara's hand holding the gun.
However, Jara's menacing stare stopped her attempt.
Although Luca could accept Jara's treatment of him, the way Jara treated Kayla was too much for him to bear.
As he pulled Kayla to his side, he said, "Jara, this is between you and me. Leave her alone."
Jara looked impassively at him and spoke,
"Miss Burke and you are a loving couple. Will you stick together come hell or high water?"
Without warning, he pointed the gun at Kayla's head.
He taunted Luca, "You're right. I can't afford to offend the Marsh family, so I can't do anything to you."
"But, she's different. She isn't part of the family yet. If I kill her, will the Marsh family trouble the Lost Vanguard over an unrelated woman?"
His threat scared Luca.
Usually, Luca's handsome face was unmoved by threats but his face was now full of fury.
He lashed out angrily, "Jara, don't go too far!"
Without any regard to his words, Jara said solemnly, "I'll ask the last time. Who are they?"
In frustration, Luca clenched his fist.
By now, Kayla was pale with fright.
When she saw how much pressure Luca was facing, she broke down and said, "Mr. Marsh, don't worry about me. Don't tell him anything. Get your men to capture this lunatic."
Unfortunately, her words weakened Luca's resolve instead.
Turning to Jara, Kayla tempted, "Jara, you lunatic. You barged in here asking stupid questions. Shoot me if you dare and see if you can leave this place!"
Jara laughed at her childish threat and said sarcastically, "I never knew Mrs. Marsh is so brave."
While speaking, he shifted his gaze to Luca and said,
"Alas, your man is unworthy of you. Find a better man in the hereafter."
Then, he gripped his gun tightly and threatened, "I'll count to three. If you don't tell me, then you'll be sorry."
He started counting, "One!"
"Two!"
"Three!"
"I'll tell you!"
The two sounds almost sounded at the same time. Kayla was so scared that she closed her eyes. When she recovered her senses, she was still alive. Jara did fire his gun as Luca agreed to tell.
She was overwhelmed with relief.
With his face black as thunder, Luca glared at Jara and said, "I'll tell you what you want to know. They report directly to headquarters. I don't know who is directing them. If you want to know more, go and ask our headquarters. After all, there is no place you can't go, and no one dares to stand up to you at the headquarters."
His words were packed with sarcasm.
But, it did not bother Jara at all.
Since Jara learned what he wanted, he put his gun away.
He said to Luca seriously, "You'd better not be lying."
Then, he let go of Kayla, turned, and walked quickly away.
The security guards facing off with Quan and the others at the door looked at Luca.
Luca beckoned to let Jara and his men leave. The security guards stepped to the side and let them pass through the middle.
Jara and his men left quickly.
All this while, Luca was sitting on the sofa.
As he watched the men leave, his face darkened, and he muttered underneath his breath, "I have given you the clues. What happens next is up to you."
He brushed off his thoughts and stood up.
Only then he noticed Kayla still shivering with fear on the sofa.
When he recalled how scared yet defiant she was when she tried to save him, he smiled sympathetically.
He offered his hand and said, "You are not getting up?"
Kayla looked up in surprise at his calm and composed face. She quickly reached out and took his hand.
Then, Luca gently pulled her up from the sofa.
Kayla fell into his embrace. Of course, she knew that Jara was not likely to kill her.
However, she had yet to recover from the shock of that terrifying confrontation with Jara.
Her ashen and delicate look touched Luca to the core.
With a comforting smile, he tucked away a lock of hair by her ear and asked, "You are badly scared just now, aren't you?"
Tears were ready to fall as Kayla looked up.
She did not cry instead, she pursed her lips and shook her head.
"I'm not afraid. I just..."
Even as she spoke, she was trembling and clutching his arm.
Her pretense did not fool Luca as he chuckled, picked her, and carried her up the stairs.
And on the other side.
Meanwhile, outside Luca's villa, Jara jumped straight into his car and drove back to the castle.
