Chapter 562 Spent A Fortune
"I must go home tonight and tell my wife to celebrate!" Mr. Flynn thought to himself.
Marty didn't stay for long. Soon, he left with Evelyn.
Marty drank some wine, so he did not drive. The two sat together in the back seat. The window was half-opened. As the night breeze blew past them, the smell of alcohol on him with Evelyn's fragrant scent dissipated in the wind.
"Thank you for giving me so much face just now."
Evelyn thanked him sincerely. Judging from their current relationship, she knew how much respect Marty had given her just now.
Marty turned to glance at her. His handsome face was slightly flushed due to the alcohol, but his pitch-dark eyes were a little watery. They were so pretty as if they see through people's souls.
"That's it? I don't accept the verbally expressed gratitude."
Evelyn was stunned, but when she saw the ridicule in Marty's eyes, she suddenly thought of something.
She gave a weak smile. Her beautiful eyes lit up and then she leaned closer to him. Her slender fingers gently fiddled with the shirt on his chest as she bit her red lips gently.
"I wonder how you want me to thank you, Mr. Blaine. A moment ago, Melodie had been staring at me in the dark. Her resentful look made my scalp numb.
Maybe I should call her and explain our relationship, and then, hmm..."
Before she could finish her sentence, she felt a heavy kiss on her lips.
The kiss made Evelyn's whole body go weak. She wanted to refuse, but most of the time, it seemed more like a token resistance.
Until she heard a muffled laugh from him, she shuddered and sobered up.
"Marty!"
She pushed him away angrily. Only then did she realize that she had been pinned on the seat by him.
The driver's expression of holding back his laughter was reflected in the rearview mirror. Evelyn was ashamed and angry. She shouted, "You sc*mbag"
Marty threw a side glance at the driver, and the driver immediately regained his composure. He reached out his hand and pressed a button. Soon, a divider fell between the front and back seats of the car, blocking his line of sight.
"Didn't you say you wanted to thank me? That's how I like it to be."
He looked down at her, panting slightly. His voice was low and hoarse, which sounded particularly sexy and charming in this enclosed space.
Evelyn's cheeks were burning hot with her heart racing. She turned her face away and gave him a hard push. "Get up! You are too heavy."
Marty smiled and let go of her. He straightened up and adjusted his clothes elegantly. He said lazily, "Don't ever say thank you to me in the future. If you want to thank me, that would be the right way to thank me."
Evelyn said through her gritted teeth, "Thank you my a*s!"
After that, she raised her foot and kicked the door. "Stop the car!"
The driver stopped the car at the side of the road obediently, and then Evelyn got out of the car angrily and slammed the door.
Marty rolled down the window and kindly reminded, "There are still a few kilometers away from your residence."
"Even if I'll have to take a taxi, I won't sit in your car again, you sc*umbag!"
As she chided, she left in a hurry in her heels.
Marty draped an arm over the door and looked at Evelyn who had left in a fit of anger. A smile unconsciously spread across his lips.
Suddenly, his phone rang. He glanced at it and answered it.
"Marty, when will you bring a girlfriend back? Didn't you say you'd bring a daughter-in-law to meet me? Why hasn't there been any news yet?"
"Soon."
"Really?"
"Well, you should start preparing for the wedding."
After that, he hung up the phone.
......
The next day, Evelyn saw herself in the entertainment news as expected.
The headline was very eye-catching, "The second son of the Blaine family's finds new beau. Sharing a sizzling hot dance with Starlight's Evelyn Hussain."
She clicked on the video and saw the photos of her and Marty attending the party last night.
The news was full of speculation, coupled with Evelyn's filmography and family background. The comment section was flooded with abusive comments. Some of them said that she had slept with him for fame, while some scolded her for being shameless. There were a few trolls in the comments too.
Evelyn had expected that it would be like this. She called Marissa and asked her to issue a public statement to clarify.
Fortunately, Marty had been on the entertainment news quite frequently. Therefore, once the statement was issued, it slowly died down after everyone knew that Evelyn was accompanying Marty to an event as his friend. There was no inside story like everyone had alluded.
The variety shows that Evelyn had previously taken up were about to start filming. The period of shooting was very short, with only a week. Her partner was an actor with mild popularity. They had worked with each other before, so they had a bond of understanding.
After the filming, after Evely packed her things up and was about to go home, she was greeted by an uninvited guest.
Lila was an experienced manager in the industry. She had helped guide artists' careers into success over the years. She had a strong background, so the artists in the circle were all in awe of her.
Evelyn put down her bag and greeted her in neither humble nor pushy way. "Lila."
"Come over here. I have something to discuss with you."
Evelyn followed Lila out. On the desolate road, a white Porsche stopped there. When she opened the door, she saw Melodie in the back seat at a glance.
Here she came.
Melodie wore sunglasses, delicate makeup, and a branded, elegant dress. On the contrary, Evelyn's simple shirt and jeans seemed cheap.
Melodie was two years older than her and joined the company earlier than Evelyn. But because of the previous conflict, she and Evelyn had never been on good terms.
Seeing it was her, Evelyn's face turned cold.
"It's you? What can I do for you?"
"Evelyn, what on earth have I done to offend you?"
Melodie took off her sunglasses and asked.
It was only then that Evelyn realized that her eyes were a little red as if she had been crying.
She smiled awkwardly. "What do you mean by that?"
"Marty has not even answered my calls!"
Evelyn raised her head in surprise, and then lowered her eyes with a glint in her eyes.
She said indifferently, "It's none of my business whether he answers your call or not."
Seeing how nonchalant she was, Melodie said through her gritted teeth, "Evelyn, you will lead a hellish life!"
Evelyn pursed her lips. "It's not up to you to decide that."
"Ha!" Melodie sneered. "Do you really think Marty likes you? Over the years, how many women have he been with, and how many have he stayed with?
"We have known each other for a long time. Among so many women, I'm the one who has the longest relationship with him. That is a fact that remains unchanged even if we have an argument or even if he is angry and ignores me."
"As long as I'm willing to yield, he will definitely come back to me. At that time, you will be abandoned by him. Who do you think will dare to want you after you have gotten on my bad side?"
Evelyn couldn't tell if she was telling the truth. She frowned slightly and said, "I'm just an actress with no background. I can't afford to offend you or Mr. Blaine."
"But, with money, you wouldn't have to be afraid."
Melodie reached out her hand, and Lila took out a cheque from her bag and handed it to Melodie. She then handed it to Evelyn.
