Chapter 482 A Contract For Marriage
As soon as they entered, there was a large and beautiful flower garden.
The flowers in this garden were all in various shapes and forms. They looked as beautiful as ever, even though it had already been autumn.
Stepping on the stone road and passing through the flower garden, they saw a rock garden inside. After they passed through it, they finally arrived at the main hall.
The main hall was very large, decorated in oriental style. There were a maroon color rosewood table and also chairs. A sandalwood of top notch quality was placed on the table. The smoke was curling up in the air, making the hall look like a place out of this world.
Sitting on the chair was an old man with grey hair and beard. He leaned on the chair with his eyes closed, enjoying the fragrance.
He heard the footsteps coming, but he didn't open his eyes. Instead, he asked calmly, "Ken, who's here?"
The butler hurriedly replied, "Old Master Biden, it's Young Master Jeffrey and Young Madam."
Old Master Biden then opened his eyes and looked at the young man standing a few meters away from him. He then closed his eyes again and said indifferently, "Jeffrey, you're here."
The young man stepped forward and bent slightly in front of Old Master Biden. "Grandpa."
Old Master Biden waved his hand. "Your father is in the side yard. Go find him!"
Jeffrey nodded and was about to head out with Evelyn.
Old Master Biden suddenly opened his eyes again.
It was a pair of hoary eyes, but they were incredibly sharp, as if they could see through all everything in this world.
Evelyn lowered her eyes and did not look at him. She took Jeffrey's arm and left.
The view in the side yard was as good as ever. A middle-aged man surrounded by several other people, walked out quickly while discussing something.
The man who took the lead resembled Jeffrey. They both stood still and called out at the same time, "Dad."
The man stopped and glanced at them. With a gentle smile, he said, "You're back. Go take a rest at the house first. Harrison will be here soon. I have something to discuss with your uncles first."
Jeffrey nodded, took Evelyn with him to make way for them. They soon walked away.
Jeffrey was so happy that he didn't have to deal with other guests. As he left the group of people, Jeffrey and Evelyn, who was originally holding hands, let go of each other.
Jeffrey glanced at her with a smile and said playfully, "You really don't even bother to pretend for another second more. Was it really this upset for you to hold my arm that you were so eager to yank my hand off?"
Evelyn rolled her eyes and said coldly, "If you could finish the task you promised me earlier, then we don't have to hate each other anymore."
"Haha!"
With a short chuckle, Jeffrey slowly walked inside and said casually, "Who said I hate you? Did I say that before?"
Evelyn frowned. There was not a hint of gentleness and virtuousness on her delicate face anymore. She stepped forward and said in a cold voice, "I'm warning you, don't try to pull any tricks! Otherwise..."
"Otherwise, what are you going to do?"
He suddenly stopped in his tracks and turned to look at her.
Distracted, the tip of Evelyn's nose almost hit his back. She quickly took two steps back to keep her distance.
A pair of beautiful eyes were glaring at him with vigilance.
Jeffrey shrugged his shoulders and turned around to continue walking towards the house.
"Hey, we won't be staying here tonight, will we?"
Jeffrey said nonchalantly, "We're in the Islington District. So many people dreamt of living here. What? Don't you want to stay here?"
Evelyn stepped forward hastily to stand in front of him and said, "Jeffrey, you can't be so unscrupulous! We have agreed that we should help each other and each takes what we need. I will never come back to live with you."
Jeffrey looked at her condescendingly.
His facial features were too delicate. They were so sharp that he didn't look like a real person, but more like a sculpture during the Renaissance.
The sun was shining on the side of his face, reflecting on his pale face.
There was a faint smile in his blue eyes. It seemed to be mocking her, but also like a calm expression without any emotion.
"You also agreed that we should help each other. Don't you think that staying here tonight is one of the ways we help each other?"
Hearing that, Evelyn was stunned and speechless for a moment.
Jeffrey smirked again and put his hands in his pockets casually. He said lightly, "Miss Hussain, based on the spirit of our contract, you should cooperate with me to complete the mission today. In this way, we will be better together. Do you understand?"
Evelyn frowned, gritted her teeth and said, "What about my business? When can you fulfil your promise to me?"
Jeffrey's eyes dimmed slightly as he said in a low voice, "It has been so many years since the incident, so of course, it will take some time to investigate it. If that isn't the case, you wouldn't have asked me to help you, would you?"
Evelyn knew that what he said was reasonable, but when the words came out of his mouth, she couldn't help but feel a little unconvinced.
Because Jeffrey's attitude was too cold, so cold that it seemed that he didn't care about her matter at all.
It seemed that so far, she had been cooperating with him, however, she had gained nothing out of this situation despite it was a transaction that sought to benefit both parties.
She gritted her teeth and said coldly, "I don't care. Even if you can't find the outcome for the time being, there should have some kinds of clues by now. I will give you another half a month. If there is still no news, then our deal can end here. I believe that you are not the only person in the world who has this ability."
After that, she turned around and walked away angrily.
Jeffrey's face remained expressionless, as if she had said those harsh words in a fit of anger, and they were not to be taken seriously.
At six o'clock in the afternoon, a luxury motorcade drove into the manor in the Islington District.
Jeffrey and the rest of the Biden family all stood at the door, respectfully welcoming Harrison's arrival.
The door opened, and several bodyguards in black suits got out of the car first.
After that, the door of a car in the middle finally opened. It was Harrison walked out of the car.
Harrison wore a white suit today, and his hair was slicked back meticulously. He exuded a gentle and elegant aura.
A group of people in the manor hurried up to greet Harrison.
"Mr. Hampden, you are finally here."
"Harrison!"
Evelyn's arm was nudged by the Jeffrey before, she said reluctantly, "Hello, Mr. Hampden."
Harrison smiled slightly as his gaze swept over their faces and stopped for a moment on Evelyn's face.
An imperceptible surprise flashed across the dept of his eyes, as Harrison asked, "This is..."
"This is Evelyn, Jeffrey's wife."
"Oh? You two are... husband and wife?"
Harrison seemed to be very surprised, raising his tone.
Jeffrey and the rest of the people present were all stunned. They were somewhat puzzled by how surprised he was.
However, Evelyn lowered her eyes and didn't look at Harrison.
Harrison smiled and said, "Good. It couldn't be any better"
He did not say anything more, as the group of people soon went in.
