Chapter 791 She Is Leaving
Meanwhile, on the other end.
In the study of the main building.
Jara was in the middle of an international conference call.
The meeting was not about him, but about Holland Group in Flaucford.
Although he was not in Sapleusia, he needed to take charge of Holland Group's affairs. As he was still in control of the company, he had to manage and guide the company in the right direction as well as giving out advice.
Therefore, Jara was actually very busy.
In the meantime, he heard someone knocking at the door. After allowing the person to come in, he looked up and realized it was Isaac. As his eyes moved slightly, he said a few words to the senior leaders in the company in the call before dismissing the meeting and turning off the computer.
"Have you talked to her?"
Without beating around the bush, he went straight to the point.
In response, Isaac nodded.
Seeing that, Jara raised his eyebrows.
Then, he picked up a cup on the table and took a sip of water before asking, "She doesn't agree?"
Isaac nodded again.
After a pause, Isaac couldn't help but look up at him and speak with resentment, "If you knew this would happen, why did you do that in the first place? At that time, no matter how hard we tried to persuade you, you didn't listen to us and insisted on sending her to jail. Now her heart is not with you anymore, but you desperately want to keep her here. Jara, what are you thinking?"
While Isaac was speaking, Jara remained silent and did not say a word.
Somehow, Isaac felt annoyed when facing his best friend, whom he found really difficult to deal with.
Following that, he walked to the couch and sat down, then he rested his cheek on his hand.
Then, he complained in dissatisfaction, "As they said, women are cruel beings, but I think in your case, you are crueler! As a man and your friend, if you did what you did to Emmeline to me, I won't forgive you either, not to mention Emmeline."
Upon hearing that, Jara looked up at him.
In the face of his resentment, Jara remained expressionless.
Then, he asked in a deep voice, "What did she say?"
Isaac let out a cold laugh.
"What else can she say? She had made it clear. What's done is done. I advise you to give up as soon as possible! Stop pestering her."
When Jara heard that, a cold smile appeared on the corner of his lips.
The smile was like a cold wave, yet it emanated a hint of stubbornness.
With a sneer, he said, "She seemed pretty determined."
When Jara said that, Isaac choked on his words as he felt anxious and angry. "Seems like you won't give up until you are dead! Emmeline is such a good girl. After you've hurt her so badly, it's only normal that she wouldn't come back to you! Do you really think everyone has to obey you?"
Surprisingly, Jara didn't get angry when he heard Isaac's words.
Glancing at him, he replied, "There's nothing else here. You may leave now."
Hearing that, Isaac was speechless.
While staring at him, he wished he could wake him up.
"Fine. I can see that now. You only needed my help to be your spokesperson. Now that the matter is done, you're abandoning me? Alright, I won't get in your way. I'm leaving."
After that, he got up and walked out of the room.
Jara remained seated as he watched him leave, and then, his eyes darkened.
In the afternoon, Emmeline came to him.
At that moment, Jara was about to take a nap. When he heard that she came over, he was not surprised. Hence, he got up and asked Uncle Poick to bring her in.
Dressed in a light blue casual outfit today, Emmeline looked smart and charming, and there was a familiar glow on her face.
When Jara saw her, his pupils dialated automatically.
In fact, he didn't need to think about it as he knew why she came to see him. Surprisingly, his mood wasn't as bad as he expected.
Perhaps it was because he had long known that this day would eventually come, and the damage of their relationship could not be healed that easily.
Although he hoped that she could stay behind, forget everything about the past, and return to his side, he knew that it was an extravagant hope.
While Jara sat still, Emmeline stopped in front of him, then she looked at him and said, "I'm leaving."
When the words came out, his fingertip that was holding the pen froze slightly. His face was calm, but his tone was a little low.
"You really don't want to stay?"
After a few seconds of silence, Emmeline smiled freely.
"I can't do it."
The short sentence carried the weight of the helplessness and sorrow in the depths of her heart, as well as the resentment that she had tried her best to suppress.
At that moment, Jara did not say a word. The two of them remained silent. One stood while the other sat. It was as if time had stopped at this moment forever.
After a while, he finally spoke.
"Okay."
After saying that, Jara could hear his voice echoed.
Then, he said in a low voice, "Be careful when you are out there. The Icarus Association..."
Halfway through his sentence, he paused, but in the end, he couldn't help but feel worried for her. "They never stop their operations all these years. Knowing that you are released, they may come for you."
"I'm not afraid."
Without thinking, Emmeline answered, and she even smiled.
"I'm waiting for them to come for me!"
Back then, the real murderers who had killed her people had used all sorts of methods to sow discord between them. They were the culprits who framed her. Even if they did not come looking for her, she would not let go of them so easily.
In addition, those people who were originally members of the Salvation Club and Lost Vanguard had joined the Icarus Association after betraying their organization.
It was them who played a good show, deceiving everyone.
She had regarded them as her family, but they faked their deaths, took advantage of her, schemed against her, and pressured her to a point of no return.
At that moment, Emmeline's eyes dimmed. She noticed Jara had raised his head slightly. Looking at her, he said in a low voice, "You're no match for them alone, so don't act rashly."
Hearing that, Emmeline raised her eyebrows.
She chuckled, "Don't worry. It's not easy for me to get my life back. I won't die for nothing."
Upon hearing her words, Jara felt much more at ease.
After that, he had nothing more to say.
They stayed silent for a while, then Emmeline uttered, "I shall leave now."
Hearing that, Jara nodded his head.
Then, she turned around and walked out of the room.
Many years later, when the two of them grew old, they would recall this afternoon and realized that at this moment, their hearts were surprisingly calm as if it was just another afternoon. However, after going through the peaks and throughs, they would realize that at that moment, although the two of them had separated, their hearts were actually coming back together.
In this world, to own did not necessarily mean to hold it tightly.
Sometimes, letting go of each other appropriately might allow them to rediscover their destiny.
After Emmeline left, she didn't visit Keira at her workplace.
Instead, she made a phone call to Keira and asked her out to meet her.
Keira just resigned today. Initially, she was supposed to work for another two weeks. However, her manager suddenly came to her and told her that they had recruited someone today, so she could leave in advance.
