Chapter 679 No Signs Of Weakness

A nurse then walked out of the room and handed him a hospital invoice. "Go pay the bill first. Don't worry. We'll take good care of the patient."
Only then did he come to his senses. He turned around and dashed to the payment desk, nodding.
About ten minutes later, Charlotte and Sue arrived.
When Charlotte got the call from the assistant, she couldn't believe it. He was still fine in the morning, but he was involved in a car accident shortly after.
Buckley did have a car accident, and it was a severe one.
The driver was driving through a road intersection at the time. It was supposed to be safe and secure, but a truck appeared out of nowhere at this precise moment.
Even though Buckley was properly seated and had quick reflexes, he still couldn't stand the impact of the big truck.
As a result, the car was knocked away like a kite.
Fortunately, the car's gas tank was well secured and did not catch fire. In addition, the car's airbag deployed just in time to save his life.
Nonetheless, with such a large impact, he couldn't be absolutely safe.
Therefore, when the assistant arrived at the scene, he discovered Buckley's face was soaked in blood and that he was already in a coma.
The driver, however, died on the spot.
Such a traffic accident could not be considered minor from any aspect.
The assistant was also anxious. He couldn't handle such a huge task on his own. Whether on the hospital side or the public side, there must be someone to deal with it.
So, he called Charlotte in a hurry.
However, some people had already called an ambulance when they saw the crash.
Hence, the ambulance arrived on time, and the assistant boarded the ambulance to take Buckley to the hospital.
Charlotte arrived at the hospital, and after the assistant told her the whole story, she was as startled as a bird that had landed on a live wire.
Seeing Charlotte's long face, the assistant thought for a while and comforted, "Don't worry, Mrs. Blaine. The doctor said that Mr. Blaine didn't injure his vital organs. He should be fine."
He didn't know whether he should be confident or not, despite what he said.
But he couldn't do much at the time, so he only consoled her verbally.
Charlotte nodded. Over the years, she had experienced too many trials and tribulations as the matriarch of the Blaine family.
Consequently, although her heart ached and she was deeply nervous, she quickly forced herself to calm down.
She turned around and ordered the assistant, "Go back to the company immediately and inform the Public Relations Department to develop a strategy to be posted online."
The assistant nodded and left quickly.
Then, Charlotte took out her phone and called Roland.
Her hands were trembling as she took out her phone, and she could barely keep it in her hands.
But, in the end, she firmly grasped it and dialed the call.
The call was soon picked up.
It happened all too quickly. Roland was in a meeting in the company at that time, and he was unaware that something terrible had happened to Buckley.
He was shocked to receive a call from Charlotte at this time as she didn't normally call him at this time.
Later, as soon as the call was connected, he heard Charlotte's trembling voice.
"Roland, something happened to your father."
The other side of the phone suddenly quieted down.
A rustling sound followed shortly after. He seemed to have gotten up and left his seat.
Following that, Roland's cold and deep voice sounded. "What happened?"
Charlotte took a deep breath and tried to suppress her emotions. She then said in a calm tone, "Your father was involved in a car accident at the highway intersection. He's been admitted to the hospital for emergency treatment. This happened on the main road. I believe many people have seen it at the time."
"There is no way to keep the news from getting out. Since your father hasn't emerged from the operating room yet, you'll have to keep the company's senior executives and shareholders at ease. Okay?"
On the other side, Roland frowned tightly.
"Mom, do you need me to come over?"
"No."
Charlotte refused without hesitation. There must be someone in the company at this time, and Roland was the best candidate.
She paused and then went on to say, "I'll ask Marty to accompany me. The most important thing for you to do right now is to keep the company stable. Don't worry about it. Alright?"
After a long while, Roland finally agreed in a low voice.
"Okay, got it. Then I'll call Marty immediately. Let me know if there's anything else."
Charlotte nodded.
After hanging up the phone, she sat down in the chair next to her. Her fingers were still trembling, but her face was no longer as distressed as it had been.
Sue was completely unaware of all that was going on, and she didn't utter a word the whole time.
She then walked over and sat beside Charlotte after she noticed Charlotte had stopped moving.
"Don't worry, Charlotte. Buckley will be fine."
Charlotte didn't say anything.
She sat up straight in her seat. Even though she had received such bad news so abruptly, she still showed no signs of weakness.
After all, she was the matriarch of the Blaine Group as well as the Blaine family.
This was the demeanor that Charlotte should have.
Pursing her lips, she then gave an anxious look to the operating room. After, she remained quiet and didn't say anything else.
On the other hand, Roland immediately dialed Marty after hanging up the phone.
Marty was astounded as well when he heard the news.
He quickly put down the job at hand and bolted out the door without saying anything.
After informing Marty, Roland contacted the major newspapers and news publishers. He ordered them not to report what had happened today.
After all, he was the Blaine Group's next heir. He was at the top of his game, whether it was in terms of money or influence.
Therefore, everyone would still buy his words. As a result, such big news did not get out.
Then, he arranged for people to investigate the cause of today's car accident.
Buckley had always been cautious. He would never let the driver drive too fast, no matter how rushed he was.
Furthermore, the Blaine family hired only the most qualified drivers. It was unlikely to have an accident due to technical knowledge or expertise issues unless there was an accident.
Thus, Roland was baffled by the car accident that occurred to Buckley this time.
Roland needed to look into this matter deeply, whether it was because Buckley was his father or the chairman of Blaine Group.
After giving the orders, he did not leave the company.
Instead, he returned to the conference room and resumed the meeting.
In the conference room, all the top executives of Blaine Group were present.
