Chapter 1056 A Simple Person
He couldn't really be a simple person, could he?
Would he take a woman with him because he liked her? Would he take her to elope even if she was married?
What a joke!
Clarissa grumbled quietly in her heart. She then became solemn and fixed her gaze on Coby.
"Mr. Marsh, you might as well tell me honestly. What do you want to do by taking me here? If you want to kill me, then do it. Why do you leave me hanging like this?"
Coby took a breath and paused for a moment.
"I heard you and Anderson had been married for five years?" he remarked with a faint smile.
Hearing this, Clarissa was stunned.
She was perplexed as to why he had asked this.
However, this was not a secret, so she nodded without thinking.
"Yes. Why? Are you interested in our love story?"
Coby shook his head.
Then, he said with a light chuckle, "I'm just curious. You two have been married for five years. Why are you still kept in the dark? Everyone says you're very smart, but in my opinion, you're the most stupid woman in the world."
Clarissa's expression abruptly shifted after hearing his words.
She wasn't arrogant, but that didn't mean she appreciated being chastised.
As such, she did not hold back her rage.
"Oh, I thought someone who can control the Marsh Family would be impressive. In the end, he's just a coward."
Her sarcasm did not succeed in infuriating Coby.
Then, he shifted his gaze to the vast sea as though pondering something. "I have a secret about Anderson," he said after a while, "but I'm not sure if you're interested."
Clarissa sneered and said, "You don't have to try to drive a wedge between us."
With a grin and a shake of his head, Coby expressed his dissatisfaction with the situation.
"You'll know if it's true or not after you hear it."
He suddenly turned his head, looked at her deeply, and asked, "Do you still remember that ten years ago, you were hunted by someone, and after that, you lost your three months of memory?"
As soon as he finished his words, Clarissa was shocked.
She only felt a chill coming from her tailbone, numbing her scalp.
Her face suddenly became serious as she stared coldly at Coby.
"How did you know?"
Coby approached her, squatted down, and looked calmly into her eyes. "Do you believe me if I tell you that the person who chased you and caused you to fall into the water ten years ago was Anderson?" he questioned.
In an instant, Clarissa's face grew pale.
Coby looked at her solemnly. Although they didn't say anything, their gazes met and carried a lot of messages.
Shaking her head, Clarissa then murmured, "Impossible! It can't be him! Don't try to lie to me!"
Coby giggled. He was not surprised by her reaction at all.
"Believe it or not, I'm the only one who knows this secret. We'll make a deal if you're interested. You don't have to give me an answer right now. I'll give you a day to think about it. You can come to me afterward."
After saying that, he got up and walked away.
Clarissa sat there, her face pale and her entire body cold.
At this time, a few bodyguards in black came over. They most likely received an order from Coby, grabbed them from the deck, and went in.
"Get in!"
The two were pushed into a cabin, and Clarissa stumbled a little. Luckily, Sierra supported her, so she didn't fall.
Sierra had been on the deck. She was utterly perplexed when she overheard Coby's talk with Clarissa.
At this time, there were only two of them in the cabin, so she couldn't help but ask curiously, "Clarissa, he... he mentioned something about ten years ago just now. What happened exactly? Who tried to kill you, and what about amnesia? What happened to you?"
Clarissa's head was still buzzing at this point. She couldn't believe what Coby had said.
She had been married to Anderson for five years and couldn't have been more certain of his character.
Anderson would never lie to her!
Yes, Anderson would definitely not lie to her!
When she considered this, her thoughts became a little clearer. "It's alright, it's just..." she murmured as she raised her head to look at Sierra.
She took a breath and pondered it in her heart. Well, since Coby had already brought things up...
Sierra would have been worried if she had kept it secret. It was better to tell her everything now that the situation had passed.
Thus, she pulled Sierra to sit down on the bed next to her and said, "Mom, I can tell you everything that happened that year, but you must promise me that after hearing me, you will not blame yourself, nor will you feel sorry or sad for me. Those are the past, and I'm fine now. Alright?"
Upon hearing this, Sierra locked her gaze on Clarissa. Although she had no idea what had occurred in the past, her intuition told her that it wasn't a good thing.
Despite this, she nodded and stated emphatically, "Okay, I promise."
As a result, Clarissa told her everything that happened 10 years ago.
She told Sierra how the Chapman family had been treating her ever since Sierra feigned to be dead.
Besides, Lara framed her for plagiarizing on the college entrance exam, bribed the examiners, and how the Chapman family took possession of the family's possessions, forcing her to leave the country.
While speaking, Clarissa maintained her composure whilst Sierra listened with her fists clenched.
Her eyes had already turned red.
Clarissa had been treated like a little princess in the Chapman family before Sierra's accident. They had been pampering her.
She had never suffered any great setbacks before, but everything had changed dramatically since Sierra's event.
The mistress took over Sierra's position with her illegitimate daughter. Moreover, her loving grandmother and father also began to hate her.
Even her beloved boyfriend threw himself into the arms of someone else.
At that time, Clarissa felt incredibly helpless and upset.
Sierra couldn't imagine how Clarissa felt back then. When she thought about it, she couldn't help but feel an ache in her heart. It felt as if it had been ripped apart.
Even though Sierra had promised her that she would not be sad, Clarissa knew she would be.
As a result, she skipped over a lot of detail and told Sierra straight up what had occurred once she left the country.
"I had just arrived overseas, and things weren't going well. I was too young and didn't have much money on me. So, at the time, I was considering working part-time while studying, and I went to look for a job. It just so happened that a cruise ship nearby was seeking part-time servers."
