Chapter 572 A Silent NIght

After Marty drove her home, he didn't stay long before he drove away.
That night, Evelyn had a sound sleep surprisingly.
Probably because she had gone to the amusement park for the whole afternoon, and completed the dream she had when she was a child. Therefore, that night, she actually dreamed of her young self.
At the time, the Hussain family had just left Flaucford, and Finneas was still alive. The family was living happily and harmoniously.
One day, she heard from other schoolmates that their father took her to the amusement park and played on a merry-go-round. At that time, she was very envious.
When she got home, she begged her father to take her there.
After the Hussain family left Flaucford, they started a small business in Seda City.
Because the business was just started, Finneas was very busy every day. Almost every day, he would go out early and return late, and he had no leisure time at all.
But in order to make his daughter happy, Finneas agreed.
And he promised her that as long as she scored 100 points in the final exam this semester, he would take her to travel abroad.
Evelyn was so happy that she studied very hard every day.
As long as she thought of her father taking herself and her mother on a trip abroad, and the family would be happy together, she was very happy.
However, no one could predict what would happen next.
Unexpectedly, on the day of her exam, her father passed away because of a car accident.
She would always remember the scene where she held her transcript that she scored 100 points and stood at the door of her home.
The warm and loving family was no longer there. Instead, it was replaced by her crying mother, the onlookers and the neighbors who helped, and her dead father, lying there with his cold, and bloody body.
She couldn't remember how she got there, and she couldn't remember what she was doing during the time that led to her father's burial.
In her memories, that period seemed to be vague.
Her tears were mixed with the rain, so she couldn't see it clearly.
Later, her only vivid memory was her mother who took care of her, as they lived a hard life together.
Although the perpetrator of the car accident had compensated a lot of money, because her father's business was affected by his death, the compensated money was used for the remaining settlement.
Her mother had been married to her father for many years. Although she didn't live a wealthy life, her life had always been relatively comfortable.
Now that the breadwinner of the house had collapsed, her mother had to bear the burden of supporting the family, and she had to provide for her, who was only ten years old at the time, to go to school. Helplessly, she had to go out to find a job.
How could it be so easy to find a job for someone who hadn't worked for more than a decade?
Although her mother had a high educational background, it had been a long time, and at present, she was only best at attending her husband and her children instead of dealing with all kinds of documents and reports.
Therefore, in the end, she could only work in a housekeeping company, as a nanny, taking care of children.
During that period of time, Evelyn knew very clearly that she saw her mother grew old day after day.
The woman who used to glow, under the hardships of life, had seemed to age ten years overnight.
But she had no complaints.
No matter how hard life was, she would buy her cotton candy or a new set of clothes during the change of seasons when he returned home late at night.
She would always hold her in her arms on the bed, coaxing her softly.
She would tell Evelyn she must behave herself, and that she was not tired at all. She was willing to do anything as long as Evelyn was happy.
At that time, Evelyn didn't understand her mother's persistence. At her young age, she was still in a state of ignorance about the world.
The biggest feeling she felt was that after her father was gone, she knew she couldn't ride on his neck and pretend to ride a horse, and no one would raise her up to make her laugh anymore.
Moreover, her life didn't seem to be as good as before, although her mother did her best to provide her the best.
However, their daily meals and the situation at home were getting worse day by day.
Nevertheless, she was very obedient. Although she felt it, she never said anything.
While she couldn't fully understand her mother's hardship, she knew that she had to be sensible. Whenever her mother said no to buying new toys, she wouldn't buy them.
Until one day, a strange lady came to school and asked to see her, and she was in class at the time.
It turned out that her mother had fainted when she was at work.
After being sent to the hospital for emergency treatment, it was found out that she was suffering from acute myocarditis.
Later on, she found out that in addition to her heart condition, her mother also had a very serious myocardial infarction.
These events took place after her father passed away.
Hiding all the tears and sadness to the bottom of her heart, her mother always showed the most beautiful and sunny side of her.
With her loving but weak body, she held up the sky for Evelyn, letting her know that even if she lost her father, she still had a mother. She would not have anything less than other children.
It was only now that Evelyn couldn't bear to resist a cry.
And it was until that moment that she truly felt fear was coming to her.
She was afraid.
She was afraid that not only would she lose her father, but she would also lose her mother. She didn't want her closest family to leave her.
Therefore, when Forbos appeared and pretended to be a kind-hearted uncle, she sensibly accepted him when he showed up in their life.
Knowing that it was tough for her mother to be alone, she also knew that her mother's health could not bear the burden of life anymore.
For this reason, she was willing to accept a stranger coming into their lives.
As long as her mother was fine, and would not get sick or get in danger again.
However, life was not so easy.
For most of the time, even the adults themselves couldn't notice when someone was pretending.
How could a young child understand how evil people were in the adult world?
After his mother married Forbos, the peaceful and happy life only lasted for less than a year, before Forbos began to reveal his true colors.
Not only he was addicted to alcohol and gambling, he always hung around aimlessly all day.
Not to mention he didn't have a job, but when he returned home, he would wait for her mother to serve him as if he was a king.
Fortunately, the Canyon family had several ancestral houses. They could still manage to live by the rent they collected.
In addition, her mother would sometimes take in some tutoring work. Although she had forgotten the functions of mathematics, her English had always been very good.
She would teach English to the neighbor's children, so she could also earn some living.
As time progressed each day, some days were good and some were bad.
In the beginning, Evelyn thought that this could be one of her worst lives.
But, she was hit with a heavy blow in the most unexpected way.
One night, she would forever remember that day.
It was a stormy night when Forbos suddenly rushed home stumbling.
