Chapter 697 The Most Beautiful Hindrance
Marty waved his hand as if he didn't care.
"Don't worry. Dad is with her anyway. Well, if it's something that even he can't handle, I'm sure I won't be able to help."
Evelyn thought for a while and agreed with him.
Thus, she did not say anything else.
On the other hand, Clarissa had booked a ticket to F Country after handling the company's affairs and was ready to travel abroad.
As soon as Anderson found out, he asked her what she was going to do.
Clarissa stalled him off, claiming that it was for the sake of the company's affairs.
In fact, it was due to the agreement she had made with Jara the last time. She was poised to act now that the time had come.
Anderson was completely unaware of the situation.
However, she had no intention of informing Anderson of this. After all, the relationship between the Holland and Jordan families was becoming increasingly strained.
She had previously made a deal with Jara, and it had nothing to do with her status as Mrs. Jordan.
Still, if Anderson knew about this, it would be difficult to convince him that it had nothing to do with the Jordans.
Ultimately, she was Anderson's wife, and everyone knew about it.
She couldn't, however, use her position as Mrs. Jordan in this situation. The only way out was to revert to her prior status as Seven.
Therefore, Clarissa didn't tell Anderson about it.
After hearing the answer from her, Anderson did not say anything. He merely told her to stay safe and to call him when she arrived.
Then, he let her go.
This time, Clarissa would take around four days.
If things went well, she could return in four days in the afternoon.
As a result, she didn't bring much with her when she packed her luggage.
Soon, she finished packing her belongings and headed downstairs to check on Marf.
It was noon, and Marf was taking a nap.
The lovely two-and-a-half-year-old child was sleeping soundly.
She approached him, kissed his pink tiny face, and whispered, "I'm leaving for a business trip. You must listen to your dad and auntie at home. Don't be naughty."
Perhaps it was because of their bond that Marf twitched his brows and mouth, as though responding to her.
Clarissa couldn't help but giggle when she saw this.
After saying her goodbyes to Marf, she walked to Anne's room to take a look at her.
Anne was becoming more graceful as she grew older.
The seven-year-old girl was already attractive, with thick brows and large eyes. She was adorable.
At this time, she was also taking a nap in her room.
A seven-year-old child and a two-year-old child, however, were not the same. On the surface, it appeared that she went to bed at noon, but Anne did not fall asleep at all.
She tossed and turned on the bed, refusing to sleep since she was distracted by the picture of a princess she admired.
When Clarissa went in, Anne was in the quilt.
Beside Anne was the servant who was in charge of taking care of her. She smiled helplessly at Clarissa when she saw Clarissa.
Clarissa waved her hand and motioned for the servant to leave.
She then took a seat by the bed.
"Anne, are you asleep?"
She asked softly.
There was no response from within the quilt. The soft pink quilt had a bulge in the center, covering Anne's head.
Seeing this, Clarissa felt a little helpless.
She reached out to lift the quilt, but it was yanked back with a gentle tug like Anne didn't want to show her face.
Clarissa couldn't help laughing. "Anne, don't cover yourself like this, or you'll suffocate."
There was still no sound from underneath the quilt.
Clarissa knew that her little girl was not yet asleep. In fact, Anne was just throwing tantrum when she found out that Clarissa was leaving.
Seeing this, Clarissa sighed helplessly.
"Anne, if you still aren't coming out, I'm going to go."
"Then you won't see me for a few days. Will you miss me?"
"Even if you don't, I'll miss you. Are you sure you're not going to see me, Anne?"
Clarissa coaxed her in a tender voice.
The quilt finally moved after a bit. Soon after, Anne obediently put out her little head.
She looked at Clarissa with a pair of large, watery eyes and pouted her small mouth with grievances.
"Is what you said true? Will you miss me after you leave?"
Hearing this, Clarissa couldn't help but burst into laughter.
She took Anne out of the quilt and held her in her arms.
"Oh, you silly girl. You're my sweetheart. Of course, I'm going to miss you."
Anne gazed at her, as if she'd been wronged.
"But it's been a long time since you've had the time to spend with me. My birthday is coming up in a few days, and you're leaving now..."
Tears welled up in her eyes as she spoke.
Clarissa's heart ached at the sight of this.
She hugged Anne quickly, wiping away her tears and soothing her.
"I'm sorry, Anne. I've been so busy lately that I haven't had time to see you. Don't worry, Isn't your birthday the next weekend? I promise I'll return before next weekend to celebrate your birthday, okay?"
Anne pressed her lips together and didn't say anything.
Clarissa paused for a moment before explaining in hushed tones. "Actually, I've promised to meet with a friend overseas in two days. This agreement was made a long time ago. Well, you don't want me to be the one who breaks the promise, do you?"
Anne raised her head and looked at her.
"Is it very important?"
Clarissa nodded rapidly.
"Yes, it's very important. They once saved my life. I wouldn't be who I am now if it weren't for them."
Anne blinked her eyes, as if she had understood something.
She nodded.
"Okay, then you can go. But you must come back before my birthday."
Seeing that she agreed, Clarissa gave a smile and said, "Okay, let's make a pinky promise. I'll be sure to return to celebrate your birthday with you."
Anne adjusted her expression and smiled as she followed Clarissa to make a pinky vow.
"Let us connect our pinkies, and we will not break our promise for a hundred years."
......
After Clarissa coaxed Anne, she got out of the room.
Outside the gate, Nora was already waiting in the car.
Nora had long been loyal to Clarissa. Now, she was not just a bodyguard that Anderson had arranged for her to be by her side.
In other words, Nora only listened to Clarissa. Things were different from back then when she would report to Anderson about Clarissa's whereabouts.
This was why Clarissa was willing to take her overseas.
In fact, Clarissa was no longer as bold and willful as before.
After all, she was a mother of two children with her own family. She had to think for her family even if she didn't think for herself.
The so-called "love" gave birth to the world's softest frailty.
When she wanted to do something, it could be a hindrance.
But she had to admit that it was the most beautiful impediment in the world.
