Chapter 946 Another Reason

They all turned to look at Clarissa, whom he was pointing at.
Embarrassed, Clarissa cleared her throat and asked, "So, that thing is really on your great-granddaughter, Lily, isn't it?"
Mr. Gill's countenance, which had been beaming with delight, darkened at the mention of Lily.
He sighed.
"Yeah. I didn't give it to her. She took it away secretly."
Hearing this, Clarissa was stunned and a little confused.
"What do you mean by that?"
"Hmph, what do I mean?" Mr. Gill scoffed, "What else do you think? That nefarious girl is ungrateful. I raised her and expected to be able to rely on her for the rest of my life. But I wasn't expecting her to flee with a man. She not only fled, but she also took a large sum of money with her. She should have taken the jade as well. So, if you're in a hurry to find it, don't bother me. Just go to find her. If you find it, it's yours; if not, it's your loss."
Then he shook his head and clicked his tongue. "I've told you everything I know. Don't blame me if you can't find anything."
In fact, the four of them were a little shocked.
Clarissa was silent for a time before nodding. "I see. Don't worry; we'll surely find her, and we'll let you know when we do."
This time, Mr. Gill did not say anything.
Clarissa and others got up, bid farewell to him, and then turned to leave.
Perplexed, they exited Gill's villa and stood on the road.
They thought there were no two ways about it at first, but they were proven wrong now. As a result, everyone was in a bad mood.
"What should we do now?" Emmeline was the first to ask.
Clarissa frowned and replied, "Of course, it's to look for Lily. But I've heard she's been missing for a long time. Mr. Gill has also sought for her but has come up empty-handed. I don't think we can find her in a short time. Why don't we go back to Flaucford first and then think of a solution? What do you guys think?"
Anderson naturally didn't have any objections.
However, Jara didn't agree.
His eyes and voice were cold.
"I disagree. Who knows if Mr. Gill is telling the truth? What if the jade isn't in the hands of his great-granddaughter?"
Clarissa looked at him. "So, what are your plans?"
"Search the villa."
He paused for a second and felt it was inappropriate to do so, so he added, "I won't give up until I search for it."
For a brief moment, Clarissa went silent. She finally nodded and continued, "Okay, how about this? Let's go back first, but we're not going to leave yet. We'll accompany you to Gill's villa when it's dark. If we don't find anything, we'll leave. Then only we'll figure out a way to locate Lily."
Jara nodded his head.
After they made up their minds, they left without hesitation.
Soon, it was nighttime.
Four figures sneaked into Gill's villa.
By this time, Mr. Gill had fallen asleep.
Clarissa was the first to enter the bedroom. First, she knocked Mr. Gill out with her hands, and then she ordered the other three people to search thoroughly in the villa together.
The villa was neither big nor small.
Since the jade was relatively small, it was indeed a little challenging to locate it.
The other three exited the bedroom and went in search of other areas. Clarissa was in charge of searching Mr. Gill's bedroom, where he spent the entire year.
After searching the entire room, she did not manage to spot Jade of Heaven in the bedroom.
In the end, she had no choice but to set her eyes on Mr. Gill.
In fact, Clarissa didn't despise Mr. Gill.
As a result, she felt guilty as she looked about.
Standing in front of the bed, Clarissa clasped her palms together and whispered, "I'm sorry, Mr. Gill. We have no choice but to offend you today. If there's a chance, I'll make amends in the future."
After that, she extended her hand and felt about Mr. Gill's body.
However, after a brief search, she discovered that he didn't have the jade.
She checked carefully around the bed and even under the bedboard, but she couldn't spot anything.
Helplessly, she could only sigh and turn her head to leave.
About an hour later, the other three had also come out.
The four of them then gathered in the living room. Clarissa asked, "How are things going? Have you guys found it?"
They all shook their heads simultaneously.
Seeing this, Clarissa recognized they hadn't found it.
With a sigh, she whispered, "In this case, it means that the jade is not here. Let's go then."
Anderson nodded, and they walked out of Gill's villa.
However, they didn't notice was that Mr. Gill, who had been sleeping in the bedroom, opened his eyes and sat up as soon as they left.
He gazed out the window at the direction the group of people was leaving. Grabbing a coat from the side, he scoffed and rolled out of bed. He then walked out immediately after.
Clarissa and the others arrived at the airport shortly after.
It was an autumn night, and the temperature was low. The group arrived ecstatic but left disappointed. At that point, everyone appeared to be in a bad mood.
Clarissa comforted Emmeline by patting her on the shoulder and murmuring, "Don't get upset. Fortunately, we know Lily has the jade. All we have to do is do our best to locate her. I'm sure we'll have more clues soon."
Following that, Emmeline nodded and forced a smile.
They then boarded the plane.
At this time, on the other side.
Mr. Gill swiftly arrived at an old tree in the borders of the village. He whistled as he gazed about.
A black figure soon emerged from the darkness.
"Where is she?" Mr. Gill asked with an indifferent expression on his face.
The man scowled. "Why are you in such a hurry? You haven't given me the things yet."
Mr. Gill's expression changed abruptly.
"Bring her out first and let me see her. I will only give them to you after."
The man's face was solemn. "Do I now have control of the situation, or do you? I'll kill her if you don't hand over the items right now!"
Just as he finished speaking, someone suddenly walked out from not far away, clapping their hands.
"How interesting! It turns out that you were hesitant to tell us where Jade of Heaven was because of this!"
They were both taken aback. When they turned around, they saw Clarissa and Anderson emerge from the dark.
Their faces changed greatly.
When the man in black realized this, he turned around and fled. Jara reacted swiftly and chased after him right away. They both disappeared in the blink of an eye.
With a gentle smile on her face, Clarissa walked to Mr. Gill. Surprised, he pointed at them and exclaimed, "You, you guys..."
Seeing his reaction, Clarissa let out a soft chuckle. "Mr. Gill, you're surprised, aren't you? It's getting cold here, so let's go back and chat."
Mr. Gill's expression shifted once again. Nonetheless, he resentfully followed them back in the end.
