Chapter 899 Their Cooperation

Anne had an inherent beauty; after all, her parents were all really appealing. She wouldn't look too bad no matter what.
However, she still began to pay attention to her figure.
Clarissa recently found that she had been quietly reducing the amount of food she ate, especially meat. She only ate vegetables and fruits that were low in calories.
Hence, Clarissa couldn't help but feel a bit helpless.
After all, she knew that adequate nutrition, not appearance, was the most crucial factor for children Anne's age.
Therefore, she would make every effort to let Anne to eat more meat at every meal.
Anne knew she couldn't avoid it, so she simply ate the meat that was placed in her bowl.
"Mommy, who is daddy talking to?" she asked, intrigued.
Clarissa gave her a gentle glance and replied, "You kids don't have to know about our matters."
Hearing that, Anne responded with a nod.
"I'm done eating," she said after she swiftly ate up the food in the bowl.
Marf had a great attachment with Anne. So, when Anne stopped eating, he stopped eating as well.
He also put down the bowl and said, "Mommy, I'm done too."
Helplessly, Clarissa stared at them.
"Go play now since you 're all done with dinner," she urged, handing them tissues to wipe their mouths.
They cheered and dashed behind them to the play area, as if they had won the lottery.
Clarissa couldn't stop giggling and shaking her head helplessly as she gazed at their backs.
Later, she sat alone at the table and looked at the exquisite dishes on the table, but she had no appetite.
When she turned around, Anderson was still on the phone with his back facing her.
Noticing this, she couldn't help but frown slightly.
Although Jara did not make it clear what he was up to on the phone earlier, Clarissa had a gut feeling that something serious had happened.
Otherwise, Jara, a proud man, would never initiate to cooperate with Anderson.
As she pondered this, she slightly lowered her brows, her heart racing.
It didn't take long for Anderson to finish talking on the phone.
As soon as he walked over, Clarissa quickly asked, "What's the matter? Why did he look for you?"
Anderson gave her a sidelong glance before handing her the phone. "Let's eat first, and then we'll talk about it," he added.
Clarissa then said nothing.
In fact, she was curious, but since he said so, she stopped asking questions and began eating.
Clarissa told the servants to look after Anne and Marf in the play area after dinner, then take them to a bath and sleep when it was time.
After that, she went upstairs to her bedroom with Anderson.
As soon as they entered the room, Anderson said, "Jara wants to work with me. He said that he had tracked down the person who planned to kill you on the plane."
Upon hearing his words, Clarissa trembled violently!
She opened her eyes wide, unable to believe what she had just heard.
Back then, she and Nora had experienced a mishap on the plane. She had sent a large number of people to investigate the mastermind who had tried to kill them after she had returned safely.
However, like stones sinking into the deep sea, there was no more news of them.
Later, she eventually found some information regarding the whereabouts of the attackers.
But when they arrived at the scene, they discovered that those people had already died and that their bodies were going to rot.
It was obvious that he had been slain almost instantly after failing the mission.
These people were cruel and brutal, and their methods of action were ruthless. Of course, they would not allow anything to get a hold of them.
After all, the Jordan Family was only influential in Ascijan. The place of the incident was a rural area. Later, they were all occupied with their own matters. In addition to going out and strengthening the security, the incident was still being investigated, but they had not prioritized it.
But now Jara was telling them that he had figured out who those people were?
How could Clarissa not be surprised by the news?
She hesitated for a moment and asked, "Then what does he want? Why does he want to work with you? Who are those people?"
In a deep voice, Anderson replied, "He didn't say anything. He only told me to go over tomorrow and have a chat."
Without thinking about it, Clarissa immediately rejected it.
"No. I don't agree with you going over."
Anderson stared at her deeply.
Then, Clarissa went on to say, "You don't know Jara well. Since he looked for you, he must be having problems that he can't solve. Also, both your families aren't getting along. It's fine if it's just a matter of cooperation. But what if it is a trap?"
"But this is a good opportunity," Anderson said.
He took a breath and then said, "In this world, it's impossible to always prevent a thief. Clarissa, you were lucky the last time because they failed. But what about next time? No one can guarantee that luck will be in our favor. So, I will do whatever it takes to locate those folks."
Clarissa shivered fiercely as a result of Anderson's words.
She was immediately filled with mixed sensations and hesitation when she looked into his deep eyes and saw the calm yet determined expression on his face.
"But..."
"There's no 'but'."
With determination, Anderson said, "Don't worry. He'll not set me up. After all, I still have influence over the Holland family. Although he is the illegitimate child of his family and has always been biased against them, he wouldn't give up such a large company."
"That's why he will not dare to lay a finger on me. I think he called me over this time because we've both encountered the same group of enemies."
"The enemy of an enemy is a friend. Even if it is only temporary, it can be beneficial to both parties. What's wrong with that?"
Clarissa was rendered speechless.
Indeed, Anderson's words had moved her.
In fact, she didn't think Jara would harm Anderson. It was just that in her eyes, Jara was full of tricks and would never suffer losses.
So how could he do them such a huge favor out of the blue?
There must be something wrong with it.
As she considered this, she creased her brows and stated, "Fine. But I must go with you."
Anderson frowned.
"You can't reject," Clarissa said, "or none of us will go."
Seeing this, Anderson still wanted to convince her, "Clarissa, you..."
"I don't want to listen to your reasoning."
Clarissa directly interrupted him and looked into his eyes. She went on to explain, "I don't want to hear anything about considering our children. We're husband and wife, Anderson. We are bound to thrive together. Your safety is most important, no matter what. If anything really happens, I'd rather be with you than be alone in this world."
Upon hearing her words, Anderson was stunned.
It was as if something had struck his heart.
His heart ache.
Then, he reached out and drew Clarissa into his arms.
