Chapter 751 She Is Released From Jail

For no reason, Jara felt a dull pain in his heart.
At this moment, the night wind blew open the door to his memory, and all his heart-piercing memories were revealed.
October 23rd, 2019.
Four years ago, on a night with heavy downpour, a woman stood in the rain and told him that she would be released on this day four years later.
By that time, she would come and find him.
It had been years, and he would recall that night from time to time.
Especially the woman's cold eyes and her determined look in the heavy rain.
Even though she was so thin like a piece of paper that could be washed away in the rain any time, she was calm and resolute like steel that could withstand enormous heat, and a leopard that was crawling silently on the ground, waiting for an opportunity to ambush its prey.
Jara closed his eyes and slowly recalled that scene.
After a while, he burst out laughing.
However, he didn't know whether he was laughing at her or himself.
Moments later, he opened his eyes, and he was much more clear-headed. Then, he directly turned around and walked out.
At the same time.
In a women's prison 300 kilometers away.
A skinny woman sat quietly on the bed in the cold and damp cell.
Her head was slightly lowered, with her ear-length hair covered half of her face. Above her head shone a dim yellow light. Even though her expression was unclear, her delicate fair chin could be vaguely seen.
Just then, the jailor called with a cold and stern voice from outside, "Inmate 95201, you have a call!"
When Emmeline Illington heard that, she raised her head, revealing her delicate but cold face.
Under the jailor's gaze, she paused for a while before getting out of the bed.
After she got out of the cell, the iron door behind her was shut. Then, she stretched out her hands and let the jailor handcuff her before they walked to the receiving room.
In the room, there was a row of telephones placed on the desk. She walked over, picked up one of the telephones' handset, and put it next to her ear.
"Hello?"
Her voice was slightly hoarse but sexy and pleasing to the ear.
While on the other end of the phone, a girl's crisp voice sounded. Her voice was joyful like an oriole in spring. "Finally, you will be released tomorrow! Shall I pick you up?"
It was the voice of her step-sister, Keira Murray.
Hearing Keira's voice, Emmeline was stunned, and she had no comeback.
Perhaps it was because she hadn't heard this voice for a long time, or perhaps it was because so many years had passed without her realizing. Back then, her reputation was so bad that everyone despised her. However, after being in prison for four years, she didn't expect that someone was willing to pick her up.
About half a minute later, Emmeline finally nodded gently and said, "Sure."
Upon hearing that, Keira felt more excited, and she continued, "Have you heard about this? Uncle Oneal's son died of drowning last year. Well, serve him right! This must be his punishment for bullying you!"
As soon as Emmeline heard about Uncle Oneal's son, it took her about five to six seconds to remember who he was.
He was her stepfather's neighbor. When she was young, he always did everything possible to get close to her because of her pretty face."
In fact, he was just two years older than her.
Back then, as he liked her, he was always impulsive and awkward. At first, he chased her for a period of time. Due to her cold personality, it was hard to win her heart, but he refused to give up.
Therefore, he would come up with all kinds of excuses and often cause her some trouble with his evil associates to attract her attention. By doing those, he hoped that he could leave some impression in her heart.
However, Emmeline was not an easy person, either.
She was a street fighter that had mingled around the street from a young age. Besides, she was sly and shrewd enough to avert all kinds of her step-father and aunties' evil plots.
In fact, since she was a child, some people said that she was as smart as a whip.
It was impossible to plot against her or take advantage of her unless she was fully handicapped.
Therefore, Emmeline could see through the mind of Uncle Oneal's son and his friends.
And naturally, she wouldn't take them seriously.
Although they had used countless means, those were just some low-class methods used by the hooligans. She could resolve them easily without letting them realizing anything.
Thus, after so many years, if Keira didn't mention him, she couldn't even remember that such a thing had happened in the past.
For a while, Emmeline stayed silent before she responded, "Since he's dead, let bygones be bygones. Stop talking about him."
After Keira heard that, she obeyed Emmeline and discontinued this topic.
Regardless of their relationship as step-sisters, they had been on good terms ever since they were young. However, during those years when Emmeline was in trouble, Keira was still a kid, so she didn't know much about it.
Emmeline only remembered that when she first entered the jail, Keira cried and asked her why.
"Go back and live your life well!" Emmeline told Keira.
Then, Emmeline turned around and let the jailors take her away.
In fact, she decided not to tell Keira the reason because she didn't want to burden Keira with the complicated affairs between adults.
Besides...
Suddenly, Emmeline thought of something. Then, her eyes darkened, and they gradually turned cold.
With that, she reluctantly responded to Keira and said once Keira was done talking, "Let's call it a day. We shall continue tomorrow."
After hearing that, Keira ended her lively conversation and hung up the phone unwillingly.
Putting down the handset, Emmeline turned around.
On the other hand, the jailor who was in charge of her was standing behind her. After seeing that Emmeline was done, she came forward and took Emmeline to the cell.
For four years, this jailor was the one who was in charge of Emmeline.
She was a middle-aged woman in her forties, with high cheekbones and upturned eyes. Although she was fierce-looking, she was very kind.
While they were on the way to the cell, she said, "I heard that you were jailed because you accidentally killed someone. After you get out of here tomorrow, you should live a good life and don't make mistakes again. Even if you have been in prison for four years, you're still young and have a bright future ahead. So, never give up and remember your transformation here, got it?"
"Got it," with her eyes staring ahead, Emmeline replied faintly.
Later, the cell door opened and Emmeline walked in.
After that, she turned around, stretched out her hands, and let the jailor open the handcuffs for her.
Then, she slightly curled her lips and said to the jailor, "Thank you."
Hearing that, the jailor was stunned.
At once, she raised her head and looked at Emmeline. For a split second, her eyes were dazzled by Emmeline's gentle but peaceful smile.
Clearly, Emmeline was still wearing a worn-out prison uniform, and her face was still as calm and cold as usual, like the ocean without any waves.
However, at that moment, the jailor felt as if she had seen a blossomed flower.
After four years of imprisonment, this was the first time she saw Emmeline smile.
