Chapter 399 Embarrassed
Clarissa was pissed.
"You can even joke about this kind of thing. Miss Velazquez, your way of dealing with things is probably quite demoralized too."
Arnie's expression did not change, or in other words, she had gotten that a lot, so she did not care at all.
Her eyes were still fixed on Anderson.
"Mr. Jordan, please think about it."
Clarissa was so angry that she wanted to scratch her. She gritted her teeth, grabbed Anderson's arm and said, "Honey, I like that pair of earrings."
Anderson nodded lovingly. "Alright, I'll buy it for you."
Seeing this, Arnie seemed to be a little disappointed.
Anderson finally looked at her, but his eyes were cold. He said in a low voice, "Miss Velazquez, I know what you're up to, but I'm sorry, I'm not your prey. For you..."
He seemed to think for a moment to find a more apt way of putting it. "I'm not interested in a woman who can be bought with money."
Arnie's expression changed slightly.
"What do you mean? I..."
"Well, you don't have to explain. We all know how the Velazquez family handles things. You didn't compete with Anderson just because you wanted that piece of jade or the pair of earrings. You just want to attract his attention, because he has long been on your list of prey, right?"
Arnie's face stiffened.
For so many years, it was the first time that she had met such a person. Not to mention that he had declined her favor, but also had embarrassed her in front of so many people.
Marty seemed to think it was not enough. He joked, "Clarissa, don't worry. Anderson has always been an upright person. He won't accept a woman whom I don't even interested in. He won't take her in even if she offered herself to him."
Clarissa just smiled and didn't say anything.
Arnie's expression changed for a while, but in the end, she still forced a smile.
Arnie said, "You really like to joke. Let's have a drink together another day. You'd better be cautious in the manner of you carrying yourself on such an occasion. I'm here on behalf of my family to participate in the auction. I'm not here to be humiliated by you, Young Master Marty!"
Marty curled his lips and didn't bother to talk to her anymore.
Arnie finally returned to her seat sulkily.
In the end, the pair of earrings were successfully bided by Anderson.
Later, Marty also bought delicate accessories — a red coral bracelet. When they asked him for the reason for buying the bracelet, he didn't say anything and was mysterious about it
Clarissa suddenly remembered that it would be Evelyn's birthday in a few days. So she knew what he was up to.
However, in front of Marty, she didn't directly expose him.
After all, since Marty did not want to say it out loud, he probably didn't want everyone to know. Therefore, Clarissa didn't say much about it.
After the auction, the three of them were about to leave. At this moment, a middle-aged man walked towards them.
"Mr. Jordan, long time no see."
The three of them stopped in their tracks. The middle-aged man was about 30 years old. He was dressed in a silver-grey suit and looked elegant and graceful. He had a fair complexion and his smile was gentle, which made people feel warm.
Clarissa's first impression of him was that he must hold a very high position.
Despite the fact that there was a smile on his face, he still emanated a noble aura that could not be overlooked.
Anderson nodded at him. "Mr. Hampden, I haven't seen you for a long time. I didn't expect you to come here in person."
Harrison smiled and said, "I haven't returned to Ascijan for a long time. I just took this opportunity to come back. I have to say that Ascijan has changed a lot. A lot of places seemed unfamiliar to me now."
Anderson smiled faintly and said, "Indeed, the country is developed at a very fast pace. If Mr. Hampden is interested, you can stay in Ascijan for a while longer."
Harrison nodded and said, "I do have this plan. I don't know if you are free at that time. I'm afraid I have to make a visit to your mansion again."
"If you are willing to come, naturally, you are more than welcome to make a visit."
The two smiled and chatted for a while. Someone came to him then only he said, "I have something on. Excuse me."
"Please go on."
Harrison nodded and smiled at Clarissa and Marty to show his respect before leaving.
After he left, Marty finally asked, "Anderson, is he the current leader of the Sapphire Family?"
Anderson nonchalantly said, "No, he is Kenny Hampden's fourth son, Harrison. The current leader is Kenny's second son, Aloysious Hampden."
Marty nodded. "I see."
Just then, a familiar voice was heard.
"Anderson, Marty, both of you are here too!"
The three of them turned their heads and saw Old Master Levine and Gimmy.
"Old Master Levine, Uncle Gimmy."
"Hey, Clarissa is here too."
Old Master Levine looked at Clarissa kindly with a gentle smile on his face.
Clarissa felt extremely flattered and quickly replied, "Yes, are you feeling better recently?"
"I'm much better now. I've been suffering from the same illness a long time ago. I won't die. Don't worry about me. What about you? You were injured last time. Have you recovered now?"
Clarissa answered right away, "I had recovered from it a long time ago. Thank you for your concern."
Old Master Levine nodded. "That's good. You're a good child."
He turned his gaze to the side and looked at the receding figure of the man who had just left. He asked, "Who is that?"
Anderson replied, "A member of the Sapphire Family, Harrison."
"Harrison?"
Old Master Levine's expression changed.
Clarissa was a little confused. "Are you alright?"
"Oh, nothing, it's nothing."
Old Master Levine's expression was obviously a little strange, but he quickly switched the topic. "By the way, I have a family dinner at home tomorrow, to apologize to you for what happened last time. Please come."
Anderson looked at Clarissa.
Clarissa hesitated for a moment and answered, "There's no need, Old Master Levine. I appreciate your kindness. But it has been so long since it happened, I have forgotten about it. So I think I'll skip the family dinner."
Old Master Levine hurriedly said, "It's not only to apologize to you on behalf of him, but also there are some things that I... I want to tell you in person."
Clarissa looked at him and said, "What's the matter? It's okay for you to say it now."
"I... "
Gimmy explained, "Clarissa, it's not convenient to talk about it here. You must come tomorrow night for me."
Clarissa was in a bit of a dilemma.
To be honest, she really didn't want to go.
Not only because of Lara and Gillee, but she also felt that the Levine family's attitude towards her was a bit strange, so she was a little bit worried.
Anderson said in a deep voice, "Clarissa isn't free these few days. We talk about that later!"
Seeing this, both Old Master Levine and Gimmy were very disappointed.
However, since Anderson had already said that, there was no reason for them to push it further.
Old Master Levine took a glance at Clarissa. He very much wanted her to join their family dinner.
"Alright! Since you said so, then I won't force you. However, Clarissa, if you ever run into any trouble in Flaucford, let me know. No one will dare to bully you as long as I'm around."
