Chapter 995 That's Not a Disease
After all, he was not a rigid person. Although Coby had shown him the way, if there were other options, he would definitely give it a go instead of being controlled by him.
Previously, he had also thought about hiring Robert to treat Emmeline.
However, the doctor he already hired was just as good as the Robert. On the other hand, Robert was a strange person and he lived in seclusion in the desert all year round.
He had only heard of his reputation, but he had never seen him before, let alone having any relationship with him.
It was already difficult to find him, and it would be even more difficult to ask him for help.
But now, since he was Clarissa's stepfather, things were different.
So, when they first met at the entrance of the theater today, an idea had already formed in his mind.
As it was their first time meeting each other, it was inappropriate to mention it directly. He thought that when they came home, he would talk to Clarissa about it, to see if she could help them out.
Surprisingly, before he could say anything, Clarissa had called.
Jara couldn't help but feel comforted. He thought that he didn't wasted his effort on his disciple. At the critical moment, she was still thinking about her master.
Hence, Jara agreed with Clarissa's proposal without hesitation.
Therefore, after Clarissa hung up the phone, she went next door to look for Sierra and Robert.
After Sierra heard of her intentions, she suggested. "Robert, I think Miss Illington is also a kind-hearted person. I like her very much. Why don't you take a look at her?"
Robert remained impassive, but his words were very gentle.
"Okay, I'll take a look at her tomorrow."
Then, Sierra turned to look at Clarissa. "Robert has agreed. All you need to do is to make an appointment with Miss Illington tomorrow. We'll meet again tomorrow."
When Clarissa heard that, she nodded happily. After saying goodnight to them, she left.
The next day, after making an appointment with them, Emmeline came to their hotel.
After all, the medical instruments were useless for Emmeline's disease. It was easier for Robert to see her in person to know more about it.
Since they were the ones asking for help, of course, it was not appropriate for Robert to travel. So they simply came over to meet him.
Clarissa went downstairs to meet with them and took them to Robert's room. A group of people sat on the sofa, while Robert and Emmeline sat on two sides of a table next to them.
First, Robert began examining her pulse, then checked other parts of her body, such as the back of her ear, nails and so on.
During the process, Clarissa was curiously watching from the side.
In a low voice, she asked Sierra, "Mom, Emmeline's disease seems to be a very serious illness. Is it possible for Mr. Lane to see anything out of it?"
In response, Sierra laughed. "In this practice of medicine, it is vital to observe, to listen, to ask, and to examine, however, to observe alone is not that simple. Although I don't know what kind of illness Miss Illington has and I don't know much about medicine, I know that if there's really something wrong with a patient's internal organs, their appearance will definitely undergo some corresponding changes. Even if it's only a very subtle one, it can be discovered with careful observation."
Clarissa nodded understandingly.
"I see."
It didn't take long for Robert to complete the examination.
Jara quickly stepped forward and asked anxiously, "How was it? Can you tell what is it?"
Turning to look at him, Robert asked in a low voice, "Is she a member of the Marsh Family?"
When the words came out, Everyone was shocked.
Sierra was not aware of these things, so she was a little puzzled.
"The Marsh Family? What is that?"
However, Clarissa, Anderson, and Jara knew about it. Not only did they know about it, but they also knew that Emmeline was indeed a member of that family.
Suddenly, a ray of hope lit up in Jara's heart at this moment.
Without hiding the truth, he nodded. "Yes."
Upon hearing that, Robert uttered coldly. "I can't cure her."
"What? You can't cure the diease?"
Perhaps she had too much confidence in Robert's medical skills, Sierra felt that other than death, there was no illness in this world that he couldn't cure.
She had not anticipated that she would see it happen.
Because Emmeline was a friend of Clarissa, and on top of that, Sierra felt that Emmeline was a good girl, and she liked her from the bottom of her heart.
Therefore, she asked anxiously, "Robert, is her illness very serious? Why can't it be cured? Is it because there was no medicine for it or is there something wrong with her organs?"
Hearing that, Robert sneered, "If there it's organ failure, it will be easy to solve as you can treat it accordingly. Unfortunately, it's not the problem of her organs, but her entire body. From blood to muscles and tissues, as long as there she carries that person's genes in her body and has the special cells that belong to the Marsh Family, she can't live safely."
When he explained, everyone was stunned.
In an instant, Jara did not look good, and Emmeline also turned pale.
Seeing that, Clarissa patted her on the shoulder comfortingly, then looked at Robert. "Mr. Lane, since can you explain the disease so well, it means that you have studied it before, haven't you? Then did you find any way to cure it?"
With a sneer, Robert answered, "A cure? There is no cure for this disease, because it can't be regarded as a kind of disease at all. Unless you can drain out her blood, remove her flesh, and even but off her bones, then you may be able to cure it."
Everyone's face changed again.
And Emmeline frowned.
"Why is that? Dr. Lane, can you explain it clearer?"
Meanwhile, Robert took a glance at her.
Somehow, Clarissa felt that since Robert found out that Emmeline was a member of the Marsh family, his attitude toward her had changed.
It seemed that the initial kindness suddenly turned into a tit-for-tat confrontation, faintly exuding a sense of hostility.
Although she did not know where the hostility came from, she believed that her judgment should be right.
Then, Robert said coldly, "You are not sick. It's a variant cell that is hidden in your body and it was inherited. This kind of variant cell has been dormant since you were born. However, at a certain point, it will suddenly become larger and deteriorate other cells in your body, so your internal organs will quickly collapse. You will grow old and die in less than half an hour."
When Emmeline heard that, her face suddenly turned pale.
What he said was exactly the same as what Luca had said before.
Upon the realization, Jara quickly stepped forward and asked, "In that case, can we develop a method to kill those cells? Like how we deal with some cancer cells right now."
Robert sneered.
"Kill the cells? How? The cell in her body is not limited to a place, but it is in every part of her body, from her veins to her heart, and it can even be found in a strand hair. Her fate is tied up with these cells. If you want to kill the cells, you have to kill her too. Do you want to kill her?"
