Chapter 765 Let's Work Together
Instantly, Emmeline's eyes turned cold, and she shot a cold stare at him.
When Jara knew he had achieved his intention, a trace of pride flashed across his eyes.
For the whole time, he was an influential figure to everyone around him. However, in front of Emmeline, he was smug like a kid.
Seeing that, Emmeline sneered.
"It's been four years since we last met, but you're still as shameless as ever!" she insulted.
Hearing her curse, Jara was not angry.
On the contrary, he became more complacent.
He lifted his chin and replied, "Well, same to you."
His words infuriated Emmeline, and she was at a loss for words.
Upon seeing this, Jara finally let go of her and went inside.
Emmeline touched her chin which was in pain. Since he pinched so hard, there must be a pinch mark on it.
When she thought of how annoying he was just now, she was pissed off.
Even so, staring at his back, she held back her anger and followed him.
After walking for a short distance, they arrived at the cemetery.
In the center of the field, there were newly-built tombstones with names engraved on them.
These people were Jara's confidantes from Lost Vanguard. Four and a half years ago, there was a fierce fight between Lost Vanguard and Salvation Club. In the end, Lost Vanguard won. However, these people were sacrificed, so Jara buried them here.
While staring at the black, ice-cold tombstones, Emmeline was wondering why he brought her here.
Was he planning to kill her here to avenge his buddies?
Nonetheless, he just said that he would not kill her. Did that mean that he would beat her instead to vent his anger?
Duh! If they were to fight, he might not be the one who won!
Upon thinking of this, Emmeline felt a sense of pride rising in her heart. Even the way she looked at him was with a tinge of disdain.
Of course, Jara didn't know what she was thinking at this moment. As he stood there, dressing in his green cashmere coat, his tall and straight figure looked like a tall, vigorous pine.
Then, he asked coldly, "Do you know why didn't I kill you?"
Emmeline didn't respond.
He continued, "Because I promised them that I would make your life worse than death and use your blood to pay them homage."
Upon finishing his words, he turned around and looked at her coldly.
"So, you should be well aware that I will not let you off the hook."
Hearing that, Emmeline glanced back at him, and there was no fear in her eyes.
"So, what do you want?" she asked.
"Ha!" he scoffed, revealing his white teeth that were like a shining blade.
After that, he continued, "I want you to come with me. If you refuse, your sister will be in danger!"
At once, Emmeline narrowed her eyes.
Although she was looking at him playfully, her eyes were reflecting a dangerous glint.
"I warn you, don't mess with the people around me."
"You don't have the right to negotiate with me."
"Oh? Is that so?"
While scoffing, Emmeline walked to a tree, broke off a branch, came back, and began to draw on an open space.
"What if I have something that you want?"
Upon hearing what she said, Jara was taken aback.
His eyebrows furrowed.
With her head lowered, Emmeline kept drawing on the soft soil. After a while, a simple map formed on the open space.
"Recently, I heard that you were looking for something, but there was no clue, am I right?"
With an even colder gaze, Jara stared at her.
"How did you know?" he questioned.
Looking at him, Emmeline smirked.
Then, she chuckled and responded, "I was in jail, but I wasn't blind. If I wanted to know something, I would eventually find a way."
As she spoke, she poked the ground with the tree branch and continued, "This is the map that I solved recently. Although the information you got is true, only a few people in this world can solve this puzzle. So except me, you won't be able to find another person who can help you with this."
Taken aback, Jara walked over and looked at the pattern on the ground.
Sure enough, this was exactly what he had been racking his brains for during these few days.
Surprised, he looked up at her and glowered, "How did you know all these?"
Since he and Emmeline grew up together, he knew clearly what she could do and what she was good at.
Therefore, he used to believe that Emmeline couldn't solve a mystery that he couldn't.
After Emmeline heard his question, she smiled casually.
In her smile, there was a tinge of mockery and coldness.
With a soft tone, she replied, "Is there a problem with that?"
Instantly, Jara's face became darker.
Staring at Emmeline coldly, he continued to ask, "Who taught you these?"
Upon hearing that, Emmeline raised her eyebrows.
Probably she didn't expect that he would get to the bottom of the matter.
After pondering for a while, she felt that it was pointless to hide this matter from him. Anyway, as long as he wanted to know something, he could find it out like a piece of cake.
So, she answered truthfully, "When I was in prison, an old man taught me."
As soon as he heard her words, he turned around and took out his phone to make a call.
At a glance, Emmeline knew what he was going to do. So, she scorned, "Stop wasting your time. You will never find him."
Instantaneously, Jara halted.
He turned around, shot her a cold stare, and asked, "Why?"
While fidgeting the branch, Emmeline dawdled to the side and answered, "Just because... he is dead."
Immediately, Jara puckered his brows.
Mockingly, Emmeline looked at him and added, "Otherwise, why would I tell you?"
Hearing that, Jara was speechless.
D*mn it, he was fooled by her again.
Later, Emmeline threw the branch away. Then, she put one hand on the stone table beside her and jumped on it. "Let's make a deal, Mr. Holland!"
Staring at her coldly, he mocked, "A deal? With you?"
"Yes, with me."
"Do you think you are qualified?"
Emmeline was speechless.
Inwardly, she whispered to herself that Jara was out of his mind, and as a perfectly sane person, she should tolerate him.
Therefore, she grinned ear to ear.
"Whether I am qualified or not, you will know when we work together. What's more, except for me, no one else can unravel this map. So, why don't you let go of your pride? We can give and take, and this could be a win-win situation."
