Chapter 520 Drowning His Sorrows At The Bar

At this time, Evelyn didn't continue to cry as she had calmed herself down.
Marty's action just now had really frightened her a little.
The thought of him made her heart ached.
Looking at her like this, Jeffrey could roughly guess what was on her mind.
He sighed inside and tried to change the topic.
"Don't worry. It's alright now. But why didn't you tell me that you were in an accident? Fortunately, I got the news that you are in the hospital now. Otherwise, how would you be able to deal with the situation just now?"
Although Jeffrey was worried about what happened to Evelyn just now, he still felt the need to chide her for always trying to hold back her emotions.
Evelyn held the cup with her head bowed, without saying a word.
Seeing this, Jeffrey knew that she needed to have some time to herself, so he did not say anything more and went out to ask the doctors about her condition.
At this time, on the other side.
After Marty left the hospital, his mind was filled with the image of Jeffrey holding Evelyn in his arms.
He was driving his car on the wide road.
The grip on the steering wheel was getting tighter as time went by, and the veins on his arm were bulging.
There was so much resentment and anger in him.
Evelyn was clearly in love with him, but why did she push him away again and again?
Moreover, the both of them had long had physical intimacy before. Why did she still reject him?
Marty felt that it was getting more and more difficult for him to understand Evelyn.
The more he thought about it, the angrier he became.
Marty didn't know how long he had been driving aimlessly. He looked around carefully and found a bar.
In the past, whenever he was in a grim mood, he would always go to a bar.
Marty shook his head. He subconsciously ended up here again.
Marty parked his car at the side of the road and went into the bar.
He had forgotten how long he had not been here. The reason being, usually, he would go to the bars owned by his company.
Since he had so much to worry about right now, it wouldn't hurt him to go in and have a drink.
"Hey, what's the occasion? What brought you here?"
Erik Burke was one of the outstanding younger generations in Flaucford city. He was handsome, a womanizer, and known as Mr. Burke by everyone.
He used to be close with Marty. But later, because he was busy with his family's business, they seldom see each other anymore.
Erik was different from the others who had also come from a wealthy family. Marty knew that the others either approached him because of his social standing or his identity as the second son of the Blaine family.
But Erik was different. He really didn't care about these things.
The Burke family was quite influential in Flaucford. Apart from the four great families, the Burke family was also a well-known wealthy family.
At this time, he was standing at the entrance of the bar. When he saw Marty, he felt a bit strange so he called out to him.
"You are here too?"
Marty glanced at Erik, who was standing in front of him, and asked calmly.
"Alas, everyone knows that I'm a party animal. How could I not be in here?"
As he said this, Erik raised his eyebrows at Marty.
Then they found a place to sit.
"Look at you. What's wrong? Have you just fallen out of love?"
Marty must be in a frustrated mood to have come to the bar at this hour.
Moreover, as Marty's good friend, he knew more or less about the relationship between him and Evelyn.
Marty picked up the long island iced tea in front of him and nodded.
The glass of cocktail in his hand seemed to be ordinary, but it was a strong liquor. It was just like Evelyn, who seldom played by the rules.
"Hey, tell me, you have all that it takes. Why would an eligible bachelor like you be so hung up on just one person?"
Erik put his hand on Marty's shoulder.
"You don't understand."
Marty continued to drink the cocktail as he let out a sigh.
"Oh, my friend. You don't seem to be able to get your mind around it. Why are you struggling over this? There's plenty of fish in the sea, so there's no need for you to be so hung up on her."
Erik had always been a playboy. If there was someone that was out of his reach, then he would just simply give her up. He really didn't understand why Marty was so obsessed with Evelyn and why he kept letting her hurt him again and again.
"She's not the same."
To Marty's mind, Evelyn was different from other women.
"How can there be any difference? Isn't she the same as other women? She's just a female celebrity working under you. Isn't there a lot of things going on in your company?"
Erik didn't understand what kind of relationship Marty had with Evelyn, but he was not happy to see his friend be so upset because of a woman.
"Let's drink."
Marty didn't want to talk about this anymore. He came here to drink today
so he could forget Evelyn temporarily. He just wanted to drown his sorrows.
"Well, alright. Let's drink. Tonight, you deserve my company all night. We won't leave until we get drunk today."
Erik was supposed to go back early to rest today, but he didn't expect to meet Marty today. Since he wanted to drink, he would keep him company.
"Erik?"
At this time, someone suddenly patted him on the shoulder behind him.
"Melodie?"
Erik was chatting with Marty with a glass in his hand. He turned around as soon as he heard someone calling him.
He was very surprised to see the woman next to him.
Erik had never expected that he would run into two familiar faces today.
"Marty, you are here too!"
Melodie turned around and was surprised to see Marty by Erik's side.
Ordinarily, Marty wouldn't come to this kind of place, so it was rare to see him here today.
Marty raised his head, looked at Melodie and said nothing.
"For how long are you guys going to drink today?"
It was not easy for her to meet these two big shots today. Therefore, Melodie couldn't wait to talk to them.
After all, she roughly knew the reason why Marty was in a bad mood.
Besides...
At the thought of what had happened this morning, she could not help but smile contentedly.
"Well, let's sit down and have a drink together. Marty is in a bad mood today. Now, I'm sure he'll be in a better mood if there is a beautiful woman like you drinking with him."
As Erik spoke, he pulled out the chair next to him and motioned for Melodie to sit down.
"Since you've said so, I'll do as you say."
Upon hearing his words, Melodie took her glass and sat down beside Erik right away.
Because they all clearly knew that Marty had never liked other women sitting next to him, and Melodie was no exception. So she chose not to sit next to him.
