Chapter 393 To Come Clean

The atmosphere froze.
Clarissa opened her mouth and wanted to say something, but she didn't know what to say.
She knew what was on Anderson's but sometimes, it was not up to her to decide whether she would see Jara or not.
Rather than promising him not to do so and reneging on her promise later, it was better for Clarissa to make things clear to Anderson from the start.
As she thought so, she pursed her lips and said in a low voice, "Anderson, I'm sorry. I know that you care a lot, but I really have my own difficulties. I promise you that after this matter is over, I will tell you everything. Before that, give me some time, okay?"
Anderson frowned.
There was a hint of coldness in his deep eyes.
After a while, he just gave a sarcastic smile.
"It's up to you."
......
Since that day, Clarissa and Anderson were in a cold war.
They had been married for a year and a half, and they were usually glued together. This was the first time that they came into conflict with each other. Even Pattie and Anne felt that there was something wrong between them.
Pattie was very worried. After all, she witnessed their growth together from day one and she was very clear about their feelings and temperaments.
If it weren't for something serious happening, they wouldn't have ended up like this.
Therefore, Pattie also persuaded them a few times in private.
However, neither of them was willing to tell her the reason. Besides, Pattie was just an outsider hence her hands were tied. There was nothing more she could do.
Pattie could only helplessly sigh. She secretly prayed that the two of them could make up earlier and that they would not have come into a bigger conflict.
On the other side, Clarissa also knew that she couldn't let things go on like this.
She knew very well how Anderson was like. In fact, according to his ability, if something like this happened, he could investigate it by himself without asking her opinion.
However, he did not. Instead, he respected her and let her make her own choice.
Hence, how could Clarissa let him down again?
After thinking about it carefully, Clarissa still decided to tell him the truth.
She was not sure what Anderson would think about about the Lost Vanguard and Mark. However, no matter how bad the outcome would be, it would not be worse than it was now.
Therefore, Clarissa found an opportunity to come clean with him.
Unexpectedly, Anderson's reaction was completely beyond her expectations.
He wasn't surprised at all. He was so calm that Clarissa almost thought that he didn't understand her.
However, Anderson obviously understood what she had said.
There was a smile in his eyes, and he said in a low voice, "Why didn't you tell me before?"
Clarissa pursed her lips and hesitated for a moment before saying, "I've lost some of the memories. I don't know what happened, what I've experienced, what kind of people I've met and what kind of things I've done during those few months.
When I woke up, I was already rescued by Jara. During those years, he was the one who taught me martial arts and racing. He saved my life, so I can't be ungrateful. But that's it. Anderson, do you believe me?"
Anderson looked at her deeply and nodded. "I believe you."
Clarissa let out a sigh of relief.
Anderson continued, "The Holland family... They are more complicated than you think. Jara has been staying abroad for many years, life must have been quite tough for him. I think he must have his own reasons for establishing the Lost Vanguard."
Clarissa nodded.
"I didn't intend to meddle with them, but now Mark is dead, and the group of people who killed Mark is probably the same group of people who hunted me down, I want to get to the bottom of this. Anderson, I want to know what had happened to me in those few months and why those people were coming after me. I don't want to continue to live like this without resolving the mystery. Do you understand?"
A hint of darkness and complexity flashed across Anderson's eyes, but Clarissa couldn't see it.
He said in a low voice, "Clarissa, have you ever thought about it? Sometimes, we don't need to learn the truth about everything. Sometimes, ignorance is a bliss."
Clarissa was taken aback.
She looked at him in confusion.
Anderson sighed lightly.
He raised his hand, gently touched her hair, and whispered, "Don't wear yourself out."
Clarissa just smiled.
"Alright."
"If there's anything I can help you with, just tell me."
"Okay."
After that, Clarissa suddenly was in a better mood.
This afternoon, Clarissa specially sent Pattie and the other servants away so that she could have a heart-to-heart with Anderson.
The two of them leaned on the sofa and talked to each other quietly.
Sometimes, things could be quite strange. Clarissa had been trying to hide the truth from him. But at this moment, once she began to tell him the truth, she could not stop but to be completely honest to him.
It seemed that there was no need to hide anything.
For the rest of the afternoon, Clarissa told him everything about what had happened in the four years abroad, bit by bit.
Anderson listened quietly. Throughout the entire conversation, he did not interrupt her. Only when a response was needed, then he would softly answer her with a 'Yeah'.
Time slowly passed by bit by bit. Later, Clarissa got tired from talking. Perhaps it was because she was finally able to be completely relaxed now, and she had great trust in Anderson, she fell asleep in his arms.
Everything was in a peaceful state.
Clarissa lied peacefully in his arms. Anderson could see her quiet and beautiful sleeping face once he bowed his head down.
His eyes darkened.
His mind flashed back to the night one year ago.
Anderson thought after so many years of struggles and tribulations, he had endured countless dangers and pain, so he should have been flint-hearted. But at this moment, all sorts of complicated feelings were welling up in his heart.
Holding her soft little hand with his slightly rough hand, feeling her warmth, he felt like his heart was loaded with pity and pain.
"Clarissa, I'm sorry!"
She had already given an account of her whereabouts during the years that Anderson could not find her.
Unfortunately, he could not do the same to her. The incident, as well as the memories that she had lost in those few months.
Anderson's eyes were deep and stained with a bright red color.
Thinking of the days she had been alone by herself, his eyes deepened.
He picked up his phone to send a text message.
Then, Anderson planted a very light kiss on her forehead. After that, he gently picked her up and carried her into the bedroom.
Clarissa slept like a log.
When she woke up, it was already dusk. The setting sun fell through the floor-to-ceiling windows, casting a faint golden sheen over the entire room.
Clarissa narrowed her eyes slightly and stretched her body.
Perhaps it was because she had lifted off the heavyweight in her heart that she was able to sleep very soundly. At this time, she was full of energy when she woke up. She couldn't feel more relaxed.
It was just that...
Where was Anderson?
Clarissa rubbed her eyes, lifted the quilt, and got out of bed. When she came to the living room, she found there was no one in the house except her.
A breeze blew over the pages of the book on the coffee table that she had been reading during her free time, making a slight rustling sound. It was so empty and lonely in the living room.
